Honestly, I used to consider Wiliam as a joke engineer (not that he's bad, he's just fooling around with ideas). But knowing much effort an event like this needs, I have MAD MAD respect for him. Wish I bought the tickets sooner and went.
@jogadorjnc5 ай бұрын
Interesting... The vibe I always got from him was that he's the one youtuber in the "joke engineer" space that isn't primarily a comedian/content creator He's similar to Stuff Made Here in that when he builds random bullshit the final "product" isn't the only thing that matters, he feels it's important to do some things "properly": like insisting on making his cad stuff modular. He kinda makes joke stuff as if it wasn't a joke It makes sense that on the MrBeast thing he was the who took up the challenge: it was for content, but it wasn't a joke, it was an industry-level engineering challenge It's also why he kinda had to be the one to create open sauce: it's an actual event, not a joke
@Mike__B5 ай бұрын
@@jogadorjnc I feel he's more similar to "I Did A Thing", as that guy does silly things that make no sense. Shane "Stuff Made Here" is like pro-tier level stuff, William "damn I need a part, lets go to Home Depot", Shane "Well let me fabricate the piece on my CNC machine".

It’s weird, because it’s always been a rule that a regular new business will lose, or at best break even for the first five years, or at least that’s how it used to be. Now festivals and the like are known for being money pits if not done damn near perfectly. Combine those two things and this type of thing is almost insurmountable. I do find it interesting to hear that the creators are a huge expenditure, even though it’s a fellow creator trying to do something for all of them. I guess people are just greedy and sucky (I would have at least lowered my rate if I was another creator asked to be a part of this, but then again, I’m not a scumbag). There’s a part of me that understands all his angst about KZbin videos, but another part of me, the working 10 hr days, 6-7 days a week doing tree work (a company I own btw) which causes me to be nervous every night driving home that I’m going to fall asleep from exhaustion and die in a car accident, makes me want to smack him for not realizing what he has, and to not overthink it. Most of us would love to have a successful YT channel.

@@Spaghettaboutit AWWW THANK YOU I APPRECIATE IT not going to lie i've been feeling pretty shitty waking up this morning and seeing 50 people notice my editing mistakes

@@trykarat don’t fret about it! It took me 38 minutes while watching it on my very large TV before I noticed. You should do more weird editing “mistakes” in future videos for engagement. I don’t know if I was going to comment had I not seen that. I mean I am enjoying the video, I gave it a thumbs up, but I’m watching on my TV and it takes too much effort to say, “Good video!” on my phone and it also doesn’t feel like I’m adding anything of worth (creatively at least). That being said, I very much enjoyed that you clearly are a fan of his and that you were able to ask questions that I would have wanted to ask. This is not a shallow, surface level interview.

Banking for creators? Wasnt there something happening this year simular to that? That a lot of people lost their money because of some problems with the bank? And they even have gambling stuff in their website
@trykarat5 ай бұрын
yea someone built a gambling app where you deposited money - and they partnered with a shitty company that went bankrupt and lost track of where the money was. Honestly stupid shit and yes - we're working on something different with legitimate partners. eg our first product is partnered with Visa and Stripe

@@trykaratAfter re-reading my comment I believe it came out sounding like I was shitting on your project. Im sorry really. That was not my intention at all. I do believe this is something really cool. I just wanted to ask a question about a similar product I saw somewhere In another video. This is the first video that appeared on my recommended from you and I really like how you express yourself and the way you interview flows amazing and you seem like a really cool genuine guy. I hope everything you aspire to do or be goes great man.

Oh all good- I didn’t take it that way at all! Reality is we’re trying to build something difficult and it’s 100% good and fair to call out potential challenges and hold us accountable Appreciate the kind words. I’m just glad I get to do this and work w creators like William. Thank you for watching!!

it's when you see will not fucking around - you know it's really serious. as patrick rothfuss says: "There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man."

why are you editing out your reflection in the wide shot and his microphone cable in the close-up?
@trykarat5 ай бұрын
yea i'm sorry about that - there's an additional lav microphone we added as backup audio and it had a bunch of wires that made it messy - I asked my editor to clean it up and missed that we also removed the main microphone cable ☠ for the reflection - we had it in originally but it was *super* distracting - like imagine trying to watch William....but you can't because you're mainly just seeing two of me

anyone else notice Erics reflection popping in and out like it's added in post? is this some kind of magic mirror? 57:21

good eye! we originally had the reflection in but it was super distracting - like you couldn't even focus on William because it looked like he was being interviewed by 2 of me. not sure this is better but was trying to improve it

@@trykarat ahh ok. i was half expecting it to be some weird invention from the con not taken down yet lol. it popping in and out wasn't too distracting though so probably a good choice 👍
