Honestly, I used to consider Wiliam as a joke engineer (not that he's bad, he's just fooling around with ideas). But knowing much effort an event like this needs, I have MAD MAD respect for him. Wish I bought the tickets sooner and went.
@jogadorjnc
@jogadorjnc Ай бұрын
Interesting... The vibe I always got from him was that he's the one youtuber in the "joke engineer" space that isn't primarily a comedian/content creator He's similar to Stuff Made Here in that when he builds random bullshit the final "product" isn't the only thing that matters, he feels it's important to do some things "properly": like insisting on making his cad stuff modular. He kinda makes joke stuff as if it wasn't a joke It makes sense that on the MrBeast thing he was the who took up the challenge: it was for content, but it wasn't a joke, it was an industry-level engineering challenge It's also why he kinda had to be the one to create open sauce: it's an actual event, not a joke
@Mike__B
@Mike__B Ай бұрын
@@jogadorjnc I feel he's more similar to "I Did A Thing", as that guy does silly things that make no sense. Shane "Stuff Made Here" is like pro-tier level stuff, William "damn I need a part, lets go to Home Depot", Shane "Well let me fabricate the piece on my CNC machine".

As someone who worked Open Sauce originally as a volunteer then an employee getting to know the family and making choices on food costs to feed staff, it hurt to realize how expensive it is. Each time someone asked me if were gonna be seeing a return on expense I told people that I can just tell that its not about making money and that its more about the potential growth and benefits that are inevitably bound to come to an an event grown and driven primarily by the community. by the way at 17:00 I completely resonate with you Will, which is why I would do this head over heels any and every time I get the chance.

When the Discord announcement went out looking for volunteers this year I seriously considered it even though we were traveling to get to the event and staying in a hotel. The first world fair was in London in 1851 with a Paris based organisation serving as it's governing body. the 6th World's Fair was the first one in America. 6 of the 35 so far have been in America. In 1988 it as rebranded to World Expo (which was in Brisbane) and the last World's Fair/Expo was in in Dubai in 2022, the next one is in Osaka in 2025 and the 2030 one has been announced. yeah I'm kinda emotional about it helping that family so much and helping you, i definitely went to spread the word online about it making sure it got the reckonition it deserved... it's when i had just gotten into Mr Beast videos and was in the process of watching not just 1 but all of them all the way back and even mentions or reviews of videos i think i did that for Williams videos too but i been watching william and friends content for far longer than just 2009 ❤ also spent minimum 3000$ to 4k on 2024 open sauce being 1st real vacation like out of state in 3 years saving up for it only twitchcon 18 /19 missed 17 to family stuff or had everything planned to be there and was gonna do annual 1week vacations for mental health but yeah mom dying 2020 and she was the one bailing me out of poor money choices 2019 ... i guess I'm getting better at planning my own travel idk still kinda winging it and loosing money 🤑 💰💰 along the way but the experience i hope I'm learning along the way 2019 taught me about fake friends which made really real friends stand out like blinding red reflective paint on a bridge 🌉 out last chance to ditch sign 🛑 like in the movies this time i forgot what I'd learned because 3 years hiatus from Caring about myself only going after money alone which i tried my best to hold on to friends during that and even slightly attend family functions if they existed but some stuff clashed timing as were planned in separate places same time frames like black in 2017 , well quitting my job a month before OpenSauce just to be sure i could be there and network with friends or make friends probably not the best idea but also i wouldn't trade it to have the money back to have not gone and still escaping a job that didn't pay well for the job but payed well for the area but at the expense of being treated oh not too great at times but for moments treated fair, anyways I Will do my best to continue the heartbeat of the community because we're all for your dream being something we all can enjoy (he said wearing his OpenSauce T-shirt from cat wearhouse and cool patch and with the signed stuff i got there) that maybe wore in public today ❤

I absolutely loved this interview but I really want someone to explain how Kevin fits into this - is his job just to live on William's property and pop-up in his second channel videos? I also love what William had to see about the effect schools has on people - but I still want to know about Kevin too
@dimitriputney5835

Kevin has his own channel; The Backyard Scientist. Pretty sure they live together and collab a lot now; I know Kevin used to be based in Florida but that seems to have changed. If you're into wild experiments/tech/chaos, definitely check him out!

@@dimitriputney5835I think it was more of a Kevin: "Jesus flying out here is way to expensive" and will going "well we do have property wanna live here?" Because they were collabing all the time and flying from Florida to California would be too expensive after a while, plus hanging out with friends on a bit of land fucking around would be great on it's own

Banking for creators? Wasnt there something happening this year simular to that? That a lot of people lost their money because of some problems with the bank? And they even have gambling stuff in their website
@trykarat
@trykarat Ай бұрын
yea someone built a gambling app where you deposited money - and they partnered with a shitty company that went bankrupt and lost track of where the money was. Honestly stupid shit and yes - we're working on something different with legitimate partners. eg our first product is partnered with Visa and Stripe

I do believe this is something really cool. I just wanted to ask a question about a similar product I saw somewhere In another video. This is the first video that appeared on my recommended from you and I really like how you express yourself and the way you interview flows amazing and you seem like a really cool genuine guy. I hope everything you aspire to do or be goes great man.

Reality is we’re trying to build something difficult and it’s 100% good and fair to call out potential challenges and hold us accountable Appreciate the kind words. @trykarat
@trykarat Ай бұрын
good catch! to william's point - i definitely made a mistake here and made a shitty thing so we filmed this in this little bar area looking over open sauce and filming logistics were hard. the glitch is because the camera angle was wrong and i was allllll the way on one side of the frame and we had to add background back so i looked centered

@@trykarat don’t fret about it! It took me 38 minutes while watching it on my very large TV before I noticed. You should do more weird editing “mistakes” in future videos for engagement. I don’t know if I was going to comment had I not seen that. I mean I am enjoying the video, I gave it a thumbs up, but I’m watching on my TV and it takes too much effort to say, “Good video!” on my phone and it also doesn’t feel like I’m adding anything of worth (creatively at least). That being said, I very much enjoyed that you clearly are a fan of his and that you were able to ask questions that I would have wanted to ask. This is not a shallow, surface level interview.
