NO you didn't waste your money, you'd be surprised at the Legion Go's capabilities, but first you MUST make sure to make some important changes to your bios settings before you get into load heavy titles, to do so first press your power button when the device is off, then hold volume up, then choose bios settings, now that you're in the bios set up screen at bottom right of screen choose more settings then choose configuration, then change UMA frame buffer size to 8G, make sure maximum memory data clock speed is set to 7500 MT/S then make sure you have enabled SMT mode (multithreading mode) and lastly set you core number to 8, games will run way better because out of the box it is not set this way and you do not get its full capabilities until you make the necessary settings changes.

All these people who're sporting non Legos have no idea of the advantages of 2 type c usb's! I connect my power to the bottom using a side profile type c cable (L shape) and if you tilt using the built-in stand it gives enough clearance. I see no reason to have a dock and if I want to go full on desktop then I picked up a baseus hub with a u shape adapter that just snakes down the back side so you don't even see the cables! No KZbin video about doing it, lol! I do this with my laptop and my Metaquest 3! Best part is velcro stickons doesn't scratch! And you can peel them of If you move them around! And doesn't void the warranty! Got a 3 year warranty on mine. Was like $56.00 bucks. And it's local drop-off! Have a 4 year on my Legion laptop!

@@Longjumping-War2484 Google "Samsung T7 Shield SSD". Then you can see why the rubber bands will sit in place, unlike on the older T7 where the SSD would slide off the stand. I will swap to Velcro as it's better in the long run, thank you. They sell those here as i just checked. I prefer this external solution too so i don't need to mod anything. There is people who have swapped out the internal SSD, but some SSD's caused problems. I agree with the comments that giving this a 1600p/144Hz screen was pointless. Very few games even at their lowest settings will be able to use resolution. It would have been much smarter to with a 1440 x 900 or even 1680 x 1050. 800p still looks acceptable on this screen. The problem with these handhelds is that people expect too much out of them. I love my steam deck oled. I would say 2/3 of my gaming now is on the deck because as much as I love gaming on PC, I love being able to sit in bed while my wife reads and play for 30 min before bed, and between work and having a family I was only able to play on weekends the last few years. Yea it’s a bit limiting on what you can play but to play some MCC or doom or other Coop/single player games. I did get it to run helldivers2, barely, but I’m not great on controller so it’s rough haha

I've had my Legion Go for 2 months now. it's awesome for playing games like Ori, Broforce, Assassin's Creed China/India/Russia. It is also utterly amazing for using Steam Remote Play from your main rig. Lenovo keeps improving it with updates and gaming aside, it is also an unbelievably good Windows tablet. Both those USB C ports are USB4, and i believe they dont share resources, so you should be able to plug all sorts of cool stuff into it. My only gripes with it are battery life and Windows being Windows, but i knew that going in. Wish it came with Windows 11 pro, and it uses 2242 ssds instead of 2230, but you can easily buy an adapter or print one if your into 3d printing. There are also already loads of 3d printable accessories, including parts to like the controllers together

I don't think you'll regret the purchase, but I also don't think this will become your primary gaming machine either. I have the Ally and I like it. I use it often as a daily driver for some work stuff. Nothing heavy in terms of workload but the normal Word, Excel, Browsers and email. It works fine. I have played several AAA titles and here is where your interest may wane a bit. You can run all sorts of games on the Z1 extreme, but you will make some compromises. You won't be gaming at 4K, you won't be getting 60+ fps on every game. You will need to tweak game settings to find the right mix to get the frame rates you want. Some games will play really well, but honestly, newer games that are already pushing the limits of current desktop GPUs will never play as well as a desktop or laptop (with the appropriate hardware). So, while I do like my Ally, I realize it's not my one and only gaming machine. I don't do as much gaming on the go due to battery life and my personal preference of playing with kb and mouse. But for the right games, it's great. I particularly like Dave the Diver. A great game for this machine.

Steam deck is better, if you’re going to get a one hour battery life you might as well be plugged into a wall and just use a full PC which is better in every way

You only get an hour at max TDP, which most games don’t need. You can get 2 hours or more with lower TDP settings

Yeah, for people like me, whose jobs imply a lot of traveling, hauling a big ass 10 kg Desktop is not an option, gaming laptops and these new handhelds are a godsend for people like me, airline pilots, truckers, sailors, oil rig workers, miners, etc.

Unpopular opinion: Ally beats them all....ish. BUT if it's your first handheld, then not bad. At least you don't have the bias, and you can truly have a real opinion about first impressions. Your first time is always the best. 👌

Ive been running the steam deck for about 2 weeks now ive been loving it. i got a 1TB SSD and 512gb SD card. Partitions about 80GB on SSD for dual booting windows. So got about 850GB for steam games and 512GB for windows games. I game mostly on SteamOS but for native gamepass games and epicgames i go to windows. Its a bit of work to get it going but when u got it u got it.

I haven't had a ton of hands-on time with Windows handhelds, but I can definitively say Windows is NOT the best choice for handhelds. Steam OS is a much smoother experience overall. Valve really needs to get Steam OS on more handhelds.

I bought the OG Steamdeck. It plays most of the games in my Steam library really well with the exception of Starfield. Plus I love that it's a Linux gaming system.

The keyboard issue is related to microsoft since windows 10. I worked for a manufacturer and sometimes windows doesn't know you are using a tablet and you have to go into accessibility obtion and enable keyboard to bypass this!

7:39 - This game looks like a reskinned port of an old Windows 3.1 game you could get as a bundle of games. I can't remember the name, but it was a skiing game and a yeti would come after you the same way that octopus was coming after you. And now I feel old and so should you if you remember that game.

On a side note, you can get cheap USB-c Hubs and connect keyboard to it if you are needing to use the keyboard. The hub should allow you to use one or two monitors also so it could be a great little mini pc. Just like a laptop but with more power. Also you'll find installing games faster if you can get a hub with a Network Ethernet Connection. I've found that out, wifi isn't as fast as a direct connections to the network.

I bought one a week ago! I'm loving it so far. the size is perfect for me. the screen size was a must for me too, steamdeck/Asus Ally just felt too small. I also really appreciate the touchpad for navigating windows! I wasn't really expecting to use it much.

I love my rog ally. Had it since launch and I pretty much use it exclusively for PC games, except for Alan Wake 2 and Dragons dogma 2, which it couldn't handle. It kinda rekindled my passion for games, since i always found excuses why i shouldn't bother with my desktop.

I sold my Steam Deck (LCD) for the Legion Go for the form factor and screen size and don't regret it at all. For me, handhelds never felt immersive and I would rarely pick them up. Now that I have the Legion Go, I'm on it more than I am my PC.
@BirkenDig-kc6yr7 ай бұрын
There's many ways to safely get way more power from the legion go itself without an e-gpu. In the bios you can turn the igpu from 3gb to 8gb and its been running flawless. Can also turn your power usage up to the full 65 watts instead of 30, without flashing the bios there's easy to use 3rd party software for experimental use. With a simple PD dock its quite the versatile gaming PC. As someone who lives off grid & uses the Go for demanding tasks, its incredibly efficient and quite unbelievable how it competes with more expensive power hogging desktops & laptops.
