I’ve been “searching” since I decided I wanted a relationship. I’m 20 now, and I’ve always been the “fat friend”, never had a boyfriends, in hindsight I’m happy about that because I saw first hand how all of my friends would get into relationships, break up, fight, just toxicity to the max. So from them I learned what I DONT want. It’s come in handy now that I’ve slimmed down and guys actually approach me. I can spot the red flags instantly, and I don’t entertain them. My standards are also pretty developed and if you don’t meet them.... byeeeee. I know that when the time comes, I will know if that person meets all the check marks. Until then, imma be single and enjoy me myself and I.
@thedarknessofnana4 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah! Enjoy your youth to the max, you are only in your 20s once... and have your you time before kids enter the picture. As a 31 year old, I can tell you that the energy levels to have fun and go out are only there for a decade. Once you’re 30, you’re not dead and can still have fun but you gotta take it tf slower so you don’t injure yourself lmao. 😂 Take it from me, get into a habit of doing some mild to moderate exercise (it could just be walking a lot as you get from place to place on public trans) so that you will transition towards not having as much energy as in your young 20s smoothly. (My lack of energy might be because I’m chasing down a 2-year-old every day lol. 🤣) I digress. Have your fun and continue to not feel pressured into a relationship! Glad to see young women who know themselves and are not afraid to exercise that self respect. ✊🏽

This video really resonated with me... when I was younger, I had a pattern of dating the worst guys because "they needed me" and I thought I could fix them. I was engaged twice before I was 18, and the first was extremely abusive. (I've been diagnosed with PTSD thanks to that relationship.) Thankfully, I was able to figure out the common denominator in all my crappy relationships- it was me. I got myself into those relationships for whatever reason, so I stopped dating for 2 years, basically to try and figure myself out. Right before I got started dating again, I decided to try and figure out what I wanted and didn't want in a potential partner. I made a chart with 4 categories: things I absolutely wouldn't do without, things that would be nice to have, things I absolutely wouldn't tolerate in a partner, and things I preferred not to deal with but weren't dealbreakers. It involved things like smoking (absolutely not), reading (a must), the ability to be silly and not take themselves too seriously... The chart helped me really nail down what I wanted in a potential partner, which was something I'd never had before. Two weeks later I met a guy that I generally wouldn't have dated- he was intelligent, he was nice, he was funny... he was all those things that I generally didn't think I deserved, I think. Thanks to the chart I'd made, I was able to realize that if I'd had a magic spell to turn my chart into a person it would have been him. I took a chance and we started dating... We've been married with 26 years now, and honestly he's still my favorite person on the planet. And without that stupid chart I wouldn't have thought twice about dating him. Do I think you should make a chart? Maybe... it might work for you, it might not. But figuring out what you want (and don't want) in a partner before you start dating can be incredibly helpful. But take this suggestion for what it is- just the ramblings of some stranger on the internet. :D

@La la LandWhat are these supposed "red flags" even alerting you to? I'm just a stranger on the internet, I have no investment or interest in deceiving or harming anyone who reads my comments. 1. Why should marriage stop me from commenting? I'm a fan of Danielle's channel. I don't think I even finished the video, I was mostly responding to other commenters relating their horror stories. 2. If we were talking about sustaining healthy marriages, I'd have a lot to say. I don't have much to say about dating and find a life partner, bcuz my circumstances were quite unusual and not easily duplicatable. I married someone I'd known all my life; there's no advice to give there, bcuz not everyone has that kind of relationship already available to tap into. 3. I never changed my position. I never came on here to insult or look down on singles. I was always just acknowledging that's its rough out there and I'm glad I'm not in the dating game. I only added information i.e. I didn't date but was fortunate to find someone anyway. 4. You came at me with the intention of being mad regardless of the truth. First you thought I was gloating and being arrogant. I clarified that I wasn't gloating & that I'd experienced some rough times too (more so loneliness than toxic relationships); but then you interpreted that as turning myself into a victim. Um, OK, sure 🤷🏾♂️ Somehow, I really got under your skin and stepped all over your toes: my bad. You want me to just go back and delete my whole comment? It seems to have really been triggering for you.

I met my bf online and we're literally inseparable(we've been together a year and a half,going strong). A good amount of my relationships started off as good convos online. I've had bad results and amazing experiences. And I'm grateful to have met my bf cause we're both huge dorks and anime obsessed and I get that it can be impersonal and that it's not for everyone. But it's definitely an interesting way to meet and get to know people. I'm a huge introvert and have anxiety so meeting people like through cafes or shows whatever isn't my cup of tea. But it's awesome you tried it out and got out there :) casual dating can be a great experience just getting to have fun and explore without being so set on someone and committed at the jump. Until you truly get to know someone. So I'm rooting for you!

I know what I want and I'm willing to not waste mine or someone else's time when I can clearly see that they are not what I want. And I also loved it when you said "I'm not hurting myself by just trying to be someone's girl" ❤️ The goal isn't to just be dating anyone for the sake of dating and its okay to want more, it's okay to be patient and content with the process unfolding, it's okay. Girlllllll seems like their is plenty of us riding this wave ....... You couldn’t be more spot on with what your saying. It’s a generational thing now to online date. I find that the problem with online dating is that people have far too many options, and putting in the work becomes effort, plus people are just there for the frill and not necessarily there to find a companion. I’m a sapiosexual /demisexual and it’s hard finding this through online dating. Good luck to us all.

Star the fact you felt that way about your first swipe is gold. Genuine Gold. Your are something special. What you just said is what allot of us guys want females to understand. If you don't like us that's fine. Like you said Compatibility is a thing. But when your rude and unnecessary about it you don't see the person for who they are before you really get to know them. And that's what allot of women have problems with nowadays. They say men think it's a game messing around on females but yet you females are the main one's with the yes or the no choices. Allot of guys get "swiped" for the most superficial of reasons High Key on average. But then get lumped with the idiots that do negative things to women. Getting blamed for things we never did and forced to apologize for it. But now women are complaining about guys not approaching, wondering why this is happening and it's bcus of the very thing they didn't do but you yourself did. Care about them as a person before making harsh unjust judgements.

I'm in the dating scene now for the first time essentially at 27. Have been in a relationship since I was 16 and that ended in 2018. So the next date I go one will be my first first date in 10 years and my first time in as many years trying to learn a person from scratch.

It’s ok my first time using bumble I swiped to the left so many times, that the system ran out of options (“left swipe syndrome) 😂 You’re on the right track don’t lower your standards & don’t give up ❤️

Girl, way to be on guard against those red flags. Once people show you their true colors, it's definitely a key indicator on how they can act again in the future.

Met my soulmate on blk. We basically exposed our deepest interest in life. I don’t even think we talked about “what do you want from your future partner.” We just kept it real and shit blossomed from there.

Your so smart and articulative and much wiser beyond your years, I wish you the best and be careful on those dating apps, although I’m sure you already know that, but most of them are just seen as more of a hookup outlet than dating so just keep in mind that most people’s intentions, on there, are not good.

And see this right here? This is why I can't use dating apps. Too impersonal. I am demisexual and monogamous. That just recipe for disaster. I fully support other non ace people using dating apps. It's just not for me. It wasn't made with me in mind
@ad20944 жыл бұрын
I am also demisexual and monogamous. It took me so long to even find the language
@MarcelWilsonLynch4 жыл бұрын
@@ad2094 honestly same. I was 23 when I actually realized I was demisexual though I've always known I was monogamous I thought everyone thought like me.
@ad20944 жыл бұрын
@@MarcelWilsonLynch yeah the way its presented in media, at least while growing up, it would seem what we now call demisexuality was expected and enoucraged. But then you get older and realize people meet random strangers, sleep with them and then decide if they are compatible for a relationship. Reality vs expectation basically. I knew something was up when I was the only girl in my group that thought grinding was weird and should probably be qualified as sexual harassment 💀
@MarcelWilsonLynch4 жыл бұрын
@@ad2094 omg it wasn't only that but like my mother always asked me if I was gay. Always told me I needed to date and then would lecture me about how dating is just meeting people to get to know them which is still such a strange concept to me. I always found nudity gross. And I thought my mom was the weird one😒 nope turns out I'm just ace. It's me I'm the weird one😂
@ad20944 жыл бұрын
@@MarcelWilsonLynch I started questioning myself at some point but then when I finally met a guy that I became close friends with and developed sexual feelings for it was like "ohhhh THIS is what people are talking about" It's cool to meet others with similar experiences cuz then you don't feel so crazy
