I dont know if it has been explained in the comments here, but the reason why the art for Choujin X sometimes is weird is because Sui Ishida is drawing the manga alone with no assistants in the manga. Mangakas generally have assistants that helps with aspects of the art, as inking, background details, etc. so maybe is so much work for Sui ishida alone

Wow, that is a fascinating fact, I had no idea the poor guy has been slaving away solo. This explains a lot, mad respect to him, I hope he dosen't overwork himself into the ground. It would be nice to see what he could do with some exceptional support.
@audax_3 ай бұрын
@@comiccasper3053 he isn't slaving away really, he chose to create this story all by himself so he has complete control over deadlines, structure and minor details. He has some interviews where he felt burnt out and dissatisfied with tokyo ghoul because of the super strict deadlines and having to supervise other people. As for the artwork, it's definitely a stylistic choice. When it's sketchy most often than not is for comedic effect or to represent some feeling or state of mind. The freedom of style is one of Choujin X`s strengths (and the story REALLY picks up from volume 3 onward with Tokio maturing into an outstanding main character)

hey you should pick up Noise by tsutomo Nihei after reading all of blame!, as its a prequel of sorts for blame. helps establish the world, and what's happened to it. also as a comic fan did you know Nihei also did a wolverine story???. yes marvel wolverine. its called "SNIKT". its also excellent. its a what if story like wonder woman dead earth. And Choujin X is phenomenal so far. I have a feeling it will be in my top ten by the time the series finishes up. its written and drawn by Sui Ishida, who also wrote Tokyo ghoul its amazing. also I cannot believe you didn't enjoy Choujin X its fantastic. Tokio is an amazing protagonist. you need to read Tokyo ghoul stop reading Choujin because I don't think you get it. Unfortunately the Hellsing deluxes are not the best way to read Hellsing anymore, as Kohta Hirano had the series reprinted as he read the english translation of the series in the deluxe format and was appalled that they ruined his story and misinterpreted a good amount of the story. so if you want to actually READ hellsing. sorry you gotta but the new paperback reprints.

But be prepared, because on an emotional Level this one Hits Like a Truck speeding on the Highway expacially in the last few volumes Dorohedoro: Amazing world Building with this one. Awesome Story that really ties the knots. Also extremly funny and all in all a Great read. The Climber: there will be soon an english release and i couldnt be hyped more. This is one of my favorite stories period. It may Seem a bit bland at First because the writer switches After like 30 Chapters but then it goes south real quick. A story about a Young man that is completly done with life that finds Passion in mountain climbing that reignites his life. Green Blood: i dont know if there is an the english release. Its a Western Story about 2 Brothers that grow up in a ghetto in newyork. Probably my favorite artstyle in all of Manga. It has cowboys, Action and is a quick read with like 50 chapters. Homunculus: one of the more disturbing reads ive had. Homeles guy gets hole drilled into his Head and Starts Seeing peoples mental Problems in real life. Of course he goes completly nuts. I’m glad you enjoyed and talked about Black Lagoon, I see many people talk about the anime but never the manga. Which sucks cuz its my favourite manga series of all time and i find it way better than the anime. The reason for the delay is because of Rei Hiroe’s struggle with depression, during the writing of it’s longest arc (from the end of volume 6 to 9) it really took a toll on him and you can feel it in the brutal artstyle and storytelling in that arc. After that he took a really long hiatus from the series and decides to take his time with the story nowadays.

Some more recommendations! Undead Unluck - Easily my favorite ongoing manga right now. It has insane worldbuilding and character development, especially from whom I consider the best female protagonist in animanga. Though it does take a bit for the story to get going, and the first chapters may give you a wrong idea on what it's like due to some fanservice-y scenes that the author completely gets rid of after a short while. Yakuza Reincarnation - I am probably one of the 3 people who ever read it, but it's awesome. It is about an old yakuza leader who gets reincarnated into the body of a princess in a fantasy world. The art is absolutely gorgeous, the action and comedy is great, and it's largely about stopping the trade of magical cocaine which is just hilarious to me. The way the protagonist talks and interacts with others is also just a treat, it actually feels like an old man speaking through a young girl, and it's not like his personality ever really changed because of it. Dandadan - Really endearing and fun story about two teens who find out both aliens and evil spirits exist, and awaken powers of their own. The characters and comedy is amazing, with some insane art. And I love the romance between the main characters. Dr. Stone - Drawn by Boichi from Origin, this story is about rebuilding humanity from nothing. It has great characters and conflicts, with of course Boichi's insanely good art. Aside from that, I also just recommend picking up more volumes for the ones you read here, even Choujin X, as I think it is genuinely a really good and interesting story. Though I understand your dislikes and concerns with it.

Generally speaking, I don’t read any mangas, I did an exception for Attack on Titans Omnibus 1 because of the hype from the anime, but that was it. I found the story interesting , but some of the characters were too…. dramatic 🥺
@comiccasper30534 ай бұрын
Haha, yes, some manga moments can be a little emotionally intense. It's not for everyone, like any medium, it has pros and cons. It definetly has some fascinating quirks which are a reflection of the Japanese culture.
@KindlingEffect3 ай бұрын
Yeah, the main character is pretty dramatic, and that character trait is, strangely, part of the plot. That trait of his simmers down with time, but it plays a huge role in one of the most brilliant plot twists I've ever read in a story. PS: The anime is better. Most would recommend the manga for a "reread" and the anime for the 1st time experience.

If you do start reading Tokyo Ghoul, I’d love to see your opinion on it. It is my favorite manga because of many reasons. The artwork, the story, plot, characters, character development are all phenomenal. The manga is a tragedy, which is stated near the beginning so it’ll have some darker themes (not as dark as Berserk) and some pretty emotionally intense moments. The sequel of the original series, Tokyo Ghoul :re, is just as good, if not better with almost everything being improved, even the artwork.. somehow.

Berserk and Claymore are the best manga ever made, equal in genre, both medieval dark fantasies, equal in quality, equal in monsters: Berserk has Appostles, Claymore has Awakened Beyings. Honestly... Awakened Beyings are cooler.😊 PS: Blame! is cool, the movie does it justice. PS addendum: Yeah, nothing else out there compares to Berserk except for Claymore. Only that Claymore is with female Gutses (so not just one Guts), and the mindfck begins much faster in the story than in Berserk.🤓 Another difference from the short stack of difference again in Claymore's favor is that the story is complete, the author Norihiro Yagi didn't die before completing it like Kentaro Miura, God rest his soul and allow him to complete Berserk in heaven, although not exactly a heavenly work.🤷♂️
@comiccasper30533 ай бұрын
I should totally get Claymore eventually, I have heard it is also one of the greats alongside Berserk. So much epic content to consume.
@johnnyd17903 ай бұрын
@comiccasper3053 it's my favorite anime of all time, and the epic part is just beginning in the anime. But much better covered than in the Berserk anime, that leaves out essential chapters from the manga Bakailaka Assassin Squad and Demon Monkey.

as someone who's been in the weeb culture for a long time. My recommendation is to expand beyond the shounen and seinen genre. Yes you have only scratched the surface of those two but manga can offer life changing, cry inducing, depressing, motivational and many more feelings that is not just thriller, hype and action packed. I am sure many people in here have already given you a "few" recommendation. Just wanted you to explore the manga world and not be stuck to the genres you already have been diving into

Actually, there are so many great manga created by female mangaka (Moto Hagio, Ryoko Yamagishi, etc). And they are not about action or with sexual scenes. They are more like great novels or films. Sadly, most of them are not translated in English.
