I still have NIGHTMARES! 😆 |Southern Cornbread Salad | Southern Homemaking VLOG

It's my favorite day of the week y'all! SATURDAY! 🤗👏🤗 We start the day with some Bacon Egg & Cheese Biscuits, Titus and Tyler head out to do some shoeing & help start a filly for a customer, we clean up the mini garden a little, and for supper we make Hamburger Steaks with Baked Potatoes, and Southern Cornbread Salad! I forgot to tell y'all how good it was in the video, but Y'all! Let me just tell you, it is GOOD! If you like to mix your cornbread with beans and onions, you will LOVE this salad! Don't worry about it being cold, that kinda scared me a little 😆, but it was delicious! 😁👏
Southern Cornbread Salad
Ingredient:
4 cups baked cornbread, crumbled
1 (1 oz) packet Ranch seasoning
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
2 (15 oz) cans pinto beans, drained and rinsed
2 large tomatoes, diced
1/2 red onion, diced
1 cup green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup green onion, chopped
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 (11 oz) cans corn, drained
Directions:
In a small bowl, whisk together the Ranch seasoning, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Set aside.
NOTE: The recipe said to make two layers of each ingredient, but I just did one layer like the picture did and it was great!
Lightly crumble half of the cornbread in the bottom of a large trifle dish. Layer with half of the pinto beans, half of the tomatoes, half of the red onion, half of the bell pepper, half of the green onion, half of the cheddar, half of the bacon, and half of the corn.
Top with half of the dressing mixture and repeat all layers once more.
Cover and chill until ready to serve.
Buttermilk Biscuit Recipe:
2 cups self rising flour
6 TB unsalted butter (cold)
1to 2 cups buttermilk, NOTE: You may need more or less depending on the thickness of your buttermilk.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°
Combine all ingredients and mix by hand, using a little flour to keep it from sticking to your hands too much. Pinch of pieces a little bigger than a golf ball and roll into ball shape. Pat in extra flour and press slightly onto baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until bottoms of biscuits are browned. Brown the tops and spread with butter!

It's amazing the difference when an animal trusts someone vs fear of someone who doesn't know how to interact with them or wants to harm them. It was sweet to see the trust the horse had for Titus and Tyler.

My hubby and I always watch your videos at night. He always gets a kick when he hears you say candles putting off a good "throw". We took our mini dachshund to the vet over the weekend and they had candles on the counter. With a straight face he says to me. I wonder if these put off a good throw? I laughed so hard. Is Titus interested in buying the horse to train it not be be wild? I know him and the boys could make that horse very gentle and friendly. We had shrimp cocktail tonight and shrimp sautéed in butter,old bay seasoning, garlic salt, black pepper and fresh squeezed lemon juice. I had shrimp cocktail and my husband and son had the shrimp with the old bay and other seasonings. We had a baked potato, stemmed broccol, and garlic bread with it. So good. Not a real heavy meal and good when it's so hot outside. Manley says the cutest things. What in the world would you all do without him? He keeps everyone on their toes. He is so precious. So beautiful to see how gentle Tyler n Titus are with the horses. The horses respond so well and develop trust. And they get those scratching n loving rubs which makes them know they are loved no one is there to hurt them💕. Oh Fallon! I had a ground hive of hornets and stumbled on them by accident. I got stung just once and it stung so bad… they clamp on and don’t let go! It took two cans of spray to saturate hive and ground. They were still coming. Then flooded the ground. Getting stung is no joke and I recommend you have an have Adolph’s Meat Tenderizer on hand for emergency (make a paste and smear on sting) and take a Benadryl. Both helped alot.

I absolutely adore the times where Titus shows us him working or even breaking a horse. The way he goes about it is the way I always understood rather than what they've shown in movies and such. Supposedly you can go out at night with a blacklight and find the worms super easy so you can pick them off and dispose of them. I've never done that, but it would be cool to see. 🤣 You can even tell Manley that that's where the surprise inside went. 🤣🤣🤣

Tyler jumped up on that wild horse like it was nothing. TTitus and his son have a real good working relationship and the horses love them. Their so gentle and caring. Hope you liked your salad, it looked good. The worms think you grow the tomatoes for them Falon. Stay well and safe.

My dog and I both got stung by a yellow jacket the other day. Mine on my leg and it burned and stung for hours and hours after and was even hurting really good the next day, come to find out the stinger was still in my leg after I cleaned it and everything. I kept wondering why it was hurting so long. That cornbread salad looked so yummy. I'll have to try it!

Fallon, The bee story was terrible! I read about yellow jackets when one stung me out of nowhere. It said they will sting more if you wear clothes with flowers or bright colors. I had on a red blouse. Also if one wears perfume. These things make them angry. I pray you never get stung again!🥰

I got attacked by a swarm of bees ,got stung several times, a nurse bleached the stings and gave me to s of liquid Benadryl,lol packed ice on me , was aweful, so I know how you feel girl
