Congrats 🎉 I actually went to TESLA QC and got a grand tour explanation as well as a half hour by myself and love to tour with the model Y exactly like yours - at less than 60 000$ all in it’s my next car should I ever manage to trade while the bargains are out there. Cant wait for more experience details on you and your MY 😊

congrats on the TMY! now that you've had the tesla for a few weeks, among all the PHEV and EVs you've owned, how would you rank them so far in terms of how much you like them overall? Consider making a new video ranking all the electrified vehicles you've owned so far, I think that would rack up a lot of views as many are shopping for electrified SUVs these days. I think I know where the bz4x will be on your list lol!

Great idea! Tesla would definitely be on the top right now. It's the car I did know I needed/wanted.

So I gotta ask, why did you go for only the RWD when it snows in your area? I'm sure the answer is price but what will be your mitigation strategy during the winter?
@EVDude Жыл бұрын
The IONIQ 5 I had was also a RWD. I had this misconception that RWD was an issue with all cars since they perform poorly in winter when there's snow and ice. But since a year or 2, a few of my friends have owned RWD EV cars and they don't swear they have no issues in winter. Doing a little bit of research myself, I found out that EV's do have less problem with RWD because of their weight distribution with the battery being dispersed at the bottom of the car. Combined with proper winter tires (mandatory in QC, Canada), I don't expect to have problems. I also live in an urban area where snow is cleared pretty fast and we may get a few days of extreme snow (20cm or more) per year. Hope this answers your question and thanks for watching! (P.S. The price also played a role in the decision)

@@EVDude Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know snow tires were mandatory in QC (smart rule); that generally makes the most difference in snow vs something like AWD and all season tires so cool that all is logical and good. I own a RWD Model 3 and it has been a great car overall with only one caveat, the 12V battery . Feel free to research into the 12V. If you ever get a message on the app or touchscreen about it needing to get replaced, please do so ASAP. It's a pretty helpless feeling having a bricked car in your driveway because of a proprietary battery that we're dependent on Tesla service to take care of. Great reviews, keep em up.

@@Frontlaven Thank you for the tip. Will definitely keep an eye on that one, I've heard some horror stories.

Are you happy with the cold weather performance of your TMY? Recharge speed, range and, most important for me, stability of the RWD in snowy and icy conditions?
@EVDude10 ай бұрын
I am very satisfied actually. Satisfied with everything, especially charging speeds during winter, I managed to charge from 7% to 80% in under 25 mins in the middle of December! The RWD is not the same as AWD, you can feel it. But I never felt stuck or low powered in snow. But you definitely need to have good winter tires and not use the cheap ones out there. I ended up getting the Michelin X-ICE snow for my Tesla and the Continental Viking for my wife's EV.

I almost bought the Rwd My but the price was a bit high and the winter range was not enough. I need a solid 220km of highway range at all times and was not confident it could provide it, especially after a few years of battery degradation. I was also worried about glass quality and corrosion. Did you enjoyed the ioniq 5?

Keep it up and you will have covered every brand of EV.. I am kidding but congrats on your new vehicle

Congrats on your new car! I am a bit surprised of the concrete choice due to multiple comments in your previous videos where you shared serious concerns about the Tesla built quality. And in the same time I am not that surprised as I also believe the with the Tesla price drop and with other brands price increase the Model Y becomes the most natural choice for someone looking to buy 5-seated EV SUV. This time I truly believe that there will be no (or almost no) regrets of your choice and you will probably keep this car much longer that the previous ones. I hope you enjoy it and I will follow your reviews as I may be considering a Model Y for myself at some future time. For now though I plan to keep my Rav4 Prime for at least 4-5 more years, as I still enjoy it a lot and it seems perfect fit for my everyday needs (including both a lot of daily trips within the city as well as some occational long range highway trips).

Thank you for watching and for your comment. You're completely right, I was a strong believer that Tesla cars were not up to my standards for build quality and that was one of the biggest reasons keeping me away from them. With the announcement that the Model Y RWD would be built in China vs USA , and build quality being substantially better on China made Teslas , I decided to give it a try. I had one issue at delivery for a slight frunk adjustment but besides that, the car was built perfectly. I think time will also tell, especially for winter. You're also right for the price drop ans people looking for a 5 seater SUV, Tesla becomes an interesting choice. The EV9 might also be a great option for 7 seater but I fear that the price might be too high when reservations open at the end of this month. Enjoy your R4P, it's an amazing vehicle and still one of the best SUV on the market in my opinion. Cheers!

I watch another KZbinr who just changed from an Ioniq 5 to a TESLA Model y and his reasons were mostly due to issues he had with the 5. Ironically I just got to drive a friend’s Y today which is the second time I’ve had the opportunity to drive a Y. His was AWD and had a lot of power and FSD. I’m still not sure I wouldn’t like the 5 better but I can definitely see the advantages with the Y. Anyway, I hope you like your Y. I’m still paying off my Prime and I wont’ be going full EV until next year at the earliest.

You have the "non skippable" adds on. I don't know how that affects monetization exactly, but it's annoying.
