Thanks for reviewing and posting about the bz4x, this and earlier videos. I'm coming from a 2019 Tesla model 3 and considering getting a 2023 bz4x limited with about 38k miles. I dont really need the fast charging and I've even lived with a Ford Focus EV with 50miles range as a daily driver. Totally I've been on EVs for about 9 years now. So I think I have the right expectation for the bz4x. Any gotchas I should watch out for 2023 bz4x limited with 38k miles, for about USD26k? One of our reasons for the switch is the space (toddler and infant) and how bad the ride quality is in the Tesla M3. Other option is Tesla MY, which I think would be best to go with a brand new rather than a used. Then I'm not really comparing the same $$ value. Anyways - thanks!!

I did prefer the R4P to the BZ4X, as a primary car. But our primary car is a Tesla Model Y and the BZ4X is our secondary car. I prefer the Model Y to the R4P 😅
@Molishious7 күн бұрын
The BZ4X seems like a perfectly nice around town vehicle if you get it for the right price. It can be a practical choice. As a Toyota fan I still think they don’t really care about the car and that’s why it has specs that aren’t really competitive with other EVs. It has the smallest battery and lowest horsepower for any AWD of the competition. I started watching the EV dude for projects he was doing on his RAV4 Prime and I’d say that’s a car that Toyota cared about. In the PHEV SUV market it can’t be challenged for power and efficiency. When Toyota makes an EV that completes toe to toe with other manufacturers like the Prime does with PHEV’s I’ll believe they really care. I’m not saying people who love their BZ4X’s shouldn’t love them, I’m just saying I’m certain Toyota could have made a much better EV is they cared to. I’m not angry, just disappointed.

Why not just use a single Nema 5-15P male L14-30R Female, it would weight less and reduce the connections/required adaptors ?
@1375soroush3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the decent explanation. Is it safe to connect both charger probes to the battery itself? Shouldn’t the positive probe be connected to the battery and the negative be connected to the body (ground)? I suppose it would mitigate any risks to the electronics and the charger controller within the computer.

We own two Ioniq 5s, and we live in an apartment. I get free charging at work as an employee perk. So I V2L to recharge my spouses EV overnight in the parking lot. I wish there was a V2V adapter that essentially combined thr V2L and a level 1 EVSE together into one seamless plug. It would mean less entry points for water.

I think the 12 volt battery charges when the car is in EV ready mode. If you are worried about the level of charge in the 12 volt battery can't you just turn on the car in EV ready mode and leave it parked. I think it will charge the 12 volt battery and turn itself off after one hour.
@EVDude4 ай бұрын
You definitely can. The DC-DC converter charges the 12V in Ready Mode, but if you dont want to leave your car turned on, a smart charger is the way to go.

Yes you can with the Room mode turned on but your charging speed will be affected. This vehicule has been engineered in a very bad way. Instead of pulling more energy for the heat pump, it sacrifices charging power.
