I converted from a Baptist faith to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There’s a lot of misinformation about our church, even in the comments section of this video. For accurate information, check out Stick of Joseph, Ward Radio, Scripture Central, etc. I converted because the plan of salvation is complete in the LDS church, and no other church. 1. faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16) 2. Baptism (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16) 3. Gift of the Holy Spirit by laying on of hands (Acts 8:12-18) 4. Endure to the end (Matthew 24:13-14). Not to mention the only church that builds temples. We know the early saints went to the temple (Luke 24:53, Acts 2:46) I’m grateful that Christ restored his church and these precious truths have been pieced back together for the full plan of salvation.

There was only ONE temple. It was in Jeruselem and marriage ceremonies were NOT performed in the temple. Only animal sacrifices. The one true temple is the believers body where the Holy Spirit indwells. Mormons are NOT Christians.

Hi Elizabeth, I’m a faithful member of the Church and this video popped up on my feed. Thanks for uploading your thoughts! There is evidence both for and against the truthfulness of the restoration (as well as for the truthfulness of the Bible, resurrection, etc). I do think that the evidence for the restored Gospel is compelling, but what spurred my conversion was the witness I received from the Holy Ghost regarding the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the divinity of Jesus Christ. I truly cannot deny this experience and following it has brought so much light, truth, and joy into my life. I pray that as you diligently seek Jesus and the Truth that you can come to a greater understanding and more joy in your life.

@@tommacari4103what evidence is there for the Book of Mormon? My understanding is that genetic studies have conclusively ruled out the notion that ancient Hebrews were the ancestors of American Indians, and the church has yet to find a single artifact anywhere in the Americas that supports any historical claims made in the book.

Joseph Smith made the thing up! He plagiarized the Bible on many occasions and used the same King James style English to give the Book of Mormon more legitimacy. I've read the entire BoM cover to cover many many times there is nothing special about the BoM that can't be found in the Bible. It makes claims of historical civilizations and battles which have never been proven. It says the Lamanites were cursed with a skin of blackness then later on when they become they righteous their skin turns white and becomes 'white and delightsome'. The BoM is said to be written in Reformed Egyptian which is a language that does not exist. Joseph Smith had an affair with Fanny Alger (his adopted daughter). Emma came home and found them doing the deed in the barn! He then claimed it was a revelation from God. Then 'rumors' came out about Joseph's affair and Oliver Cowdary publicly denounced Joseph's relationship with the girl and subsequently he was ex-communicated from the Church. There's even more details but my man you need to read into the history it gets worse and worse.

I mean... not to be insulting but you make it sound like a complex lawyers contract that you can't get out of after someone has been duped signing into. I don't understand where that would even come from. Most things people care about (relating to lifestyle changes) are pretty clearly outlined prior to baptism--essentially giving up smoking, drugs, and alcohol, and paying tithing. From there, even if one fell back into old lifestyles, it's not like they goto Mormon prison or pay some fine or something, or become enslaved into some deviant covert practices. If one commits to following the gospel "the LDS way" and then falls back into old habits, what is the harm done? If ultimately you decide its not for you, I can only imagine the worst that happens is you get annoying phone calls and door knocks from time to time and cookies left on your doorstep. Sounds so harmful! :D. If you have been wronged beyond that, I do apologize in sincerity, but it's also important to know the LDS church, as all other churches, are made up of imperfect sinners all trying to figure things out as well.

Also I did find Wally Browns Video. "The True Native American (Navajo) History of the Southwest." to be rather compelling especially when he talks about The Holy People in this Coyote Ceremony Video, and how they would describe "The Speaker of Peace" wearing a Red Garment, worn over that is a White Robe, 12 Feathers on His head representing the 12 Men that he called to serve The Holy People, about 1900 years ago as the story goes they say they were called from the East to Settle in the Southwest, In one of his other Videos he talked about how they had been called from the East by The Holy People, and crossed Wide Rivers fleeing from a Contentious civilization. All I know is thats what he said. And having read the section on their website titled. "Our Story." its fair to say that he is very adamant that these are the things that were taught too Him as a Boy, and were Taught Anciently. As an Evangelical who now finds myself in the condition of being an Active Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints I just appreciate the Man's Wisdom, and Insights as a Human being. I don't know if he is a Latterday Saint, but I recently heard a Chief from the Ashinabe who is a Latterday Saint say that the Teachings that he received in the various Native American Lodges carry with it a similar Tradition, and Practice to what the Latterday Saint Endowment is trying to Teach us. If so I think thats pretty Awesome. Honestly it just gets more curious with time....The Ethiopean Orthodox, the Mandaean Apostasy. In the Larger Picture what comes to mind is this... Doctrine, and Covenants 38. "24 And let every man esteem his brother as himself, and practice virtue and holiness before me. 25 And again I say unto you, let every man esteem his brother as himself. 26 For what man among you having twelve sons, and is no respecter of them, and they serve him obediently, and he saith unto the one: Be thou clothed in robes and sit thou here; and to the other: Be thou clothed in rags and sit thou there-and looketh upon his sons and saith I am just? 27 Behold, this I have given unto you as a parable, and it is even as I am. I say unto you, be one; and if ye are not one ye are not mine. 28 And again, I say unto you that the enemy in the secret chambers seeketh your lives. 29 Ye hear of wars in far countries, and you say that there will soon be great wars in far countries, but ye know not the hearts of men in your own land." I Hope you have a Great Week Sister. Regardless of what Church you decide to be apart of. 👋

If you want to talk evidence we can talk evidence all day there's mountains of it. You can search it under Wayne May videos. But that's not really the point, the point is... you'd still have to pray about it and ask God if that's where you are supposed to be. And the minute we started talking about evidence someone else will just jump in and say its not evidence. And then you'd be right back where you were again, having to pray about it still. And another problem is to recognize evidence you'd have to know enough about a subject matter to tell what's evidence and matches it, and what doesn't. So someone who hasn't studied something would still have to go right back to the original question of praying about something.

I read the Book of Mormon in 2002. It is a very strange religion that uses Christian terminology, but has very different beliefs. The B of M is full of errors and no archaeological evidence supports their stories. Most Bibles contain maps illustrating where important biblical events took place. You can visit the ruins or cities described in the Bible(Jerusalem, Antioch, Bethlehem, Damascus, Babylon, Ephesus, Thessaloniki, etc...). If you get atheist, Christian, and Jewish scholars together, they can agree on where the events allegedly took place and confirm the existence of cities and sites in those places, even if an atheist or a Jew denies certain miracles or historical events took place there. Nothing comparable can be said about the Book of Mormon. Some Mormons say the events of the book take place across North and South America. Others say it took place in Central America, in Panama or Mexico. And still other say the events of the book took place in the Heartland of America. That’s why some Mormons are conducting expeditions in Southeast Iowa to uncover the ancient city of Zaramehla that purportedly had 100,000 people living in it in the fourth century, which would have made it one of the largest cities in ancient North America. But so far, the expeditions haven’t found a single thing. In fact, according to the National Geographic Society, “Archaeologists and other scholars have long probed the hemisphere’s past, and the society does not know of anything found so far that has substantiated the Book of Mormon.” To put this into perspective, it would be very difficult to defend the Bible if some Christians said the city of Jerusalem was in Israel, others said it was in southern France, and still others said it was in India. There is absolutely no archaeological evidence to directly support the Book of Mormon or the Nephites and Lamanites, who were supposed to have numbered in the millions. We read about two major war battles that took place at the Hill Cumorah (Ramah to the Jaredites) with deaths numbering in the tens of thousands - the last battle between Lamanites and Nephites around 400 AD claimed at least 230,000 deaths on the Nephite side alone. No bones, hair, chariots, swords, armor, or any other evidence of a battle whatsoever has been found at this site. John E. Clark, director of BYU’s archaeological organization, wrote in the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies: "In accord with these general observations about New York and Pennsylvania, we come to our principal object - the Hill Cumorah. Archaeologically speaking, it is a clean hill. No artifacts, no walls, no trenches, no arrowheads. The area immediately surrounding the hill is similarly clean. Pre-Columbian people did not settle or build here. This is not the place of Mormon’s last stand. We must look elsewhere for that hill." Compare this with the archaeological evidence of other hillside battle sites. Caerau Hillfort, in the Wales capital of Cardiff, was found to have abundant archaeological evidence of inhabitants and weapons of war dating as far back as 3600 BC in the form of stone arrowheads, tools, and pottery. Compare the absent evidence of Book of Mormon civilizations to the archaeological remains of other past civilizations such as the Roman occupation of Britain and other countries. There are abundant evidences of their presence during the first 400 years AD such as villas, mosaic floors, public baths, armor, weapons, writings, art, pottery, and so on. Even the major road systems used today in some of these occupied countries were built by the Romans. Additionally, there is ample evidence of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations as well as a civilization in current day Texas that dates back at least 15,0000 years. Another recent discovery has been made of a 14,000-year-old village in Canada. Latter-day Saint Thomas Stuart Ferguson was the founder of BYU’s archaeology division (New World Archaeological Foundation). NWAF was financed by the LDS Church. NWAF and Ferguson were tasked by BYU and the Church in the 1950s and 1960s to find archaeological evidence to support the Book of Mormon. After 17 years of diligent effort, this is what Ferguson wrote in a letter about trying to dig up evidence for the Book of Mormon: "...you can’t set Book of Mormon geography down anywhere - because it is fictional and will never meet the requirements of the dirt-archaeology. I should say - what is in the ground will never conform to what is in the book." DNA analysis has concluded that Native American Indians do not originate from the Middle East or from Israelites but rather from Asia. Why did the Church change the following section of the introduction page in the 2006 edition Book of Mormon, shortly after the DNA results were released? "...the Lamanites, and they are the principal ancestors of the American Indians." to "...the Lamanites, and they are among the ancestors of the American Indians." A Few False Prophecies of Joseph Smith, Founder of the Mormons: *In 1835 Joseph Smith prophesied the Lord’s return within 56 years (History of the Church, Vol. 2, pg. 182). By 1891 this was proven to be a false prophecy. *In 1843 Joseph Smith prophesied that the United States government would be overthrown and wasted within a few years if they refused to redress the wrongs committed against the Mormons in Missouri (History of the Church, Vol. 5, pg. 394). The United States government has never formally redressed any wrongs committed against the Mormons in Missouri and the government still stands nearly 170 years later. *In 1832 Joseph Smith prophesied that the present generation of Mormons would not pass away before the temple of the New Jerusalem would be built in Zion, Missouri (Doctrine & Covenants Section 84). The Mormons were forced to flee Missouri and no temple was constructed there in Joseph Smith’s lifetime or within the generation that witnessed this prophecy. *In 1832 Joseph Smith prophesied that the United States civil war would eventually engulf all nations (Doctrine & Covenants Section 87). This prophecy did not come close to being fulfilled. Joseph Smith made many other false prophecies in his lifetime. By the standards of God’s word, he must be labeled a false prophet (Deuteronomy 18:20-22)

When Moses was on mount Saini receiving the 10 commandments Moses wanted to see God face to face Gods response was If you see my face my goodness would kill you (paraphrasing) so God put Moses in a cleft and covered him with his hand as he passed by ,Joseph Smith supposedly saw God in the woods face to face in New York and survived ? This should send up red flags ,Read Galatians and see what it says about false prophets ,I hope this helps you in your journey 🙏

@@elizabeth_margaretI have a question for you. How do you plan on having a balanced view of Mormonism? LDS beliefs can be presented in such a way to make it seem reasonable. However, not many movements or organizations can compare with the amount of controversy that has plagued the LDS Church. One of the most shocking exposés is the short and succinct videos put out by Latter Day Smarts. God bless you, sister. I have been blessed with a ton of insight into LDS beliefs and it's no bueno. They believe (as taught in the BOM) that the fall was a good thing 😕 Please find someone who you can trust to scrutinize what they are telling you.

You appear to have Asian heritage. The gathering of Israel is happening right now. 700 B.C. there were 1,700 children of Israel families that settled in Japan known as the Hata people. There are 500 words that are the same for Jews and Japanese. 4,500 years ago the Chinese worshiped the god Shandi, whose creation story is identical to the one in Genesis. In the ancient Chinese writing, it shows they knew all about the Garden of Eden, Caine and Abel, Tower of Babel, and the flood. At exactly that same time Jesus was crucified, there was an eclipse of the Sun and the Moon and the emperor GuanWu said that the Man from Heaven has died and all of the sins of all mankind are upon one man. If Jesus sounds familiar to you, you have the blood of Israel in your veins.

I was raised LDS I was so in love for Jesus but I didn’t know that Jesus is God! All my life I teaching that Jesus was my old brother and Satan as well! And during the pandemic time I just started to study out side of the Mormon doctrine and my doubts started to grow up! They claim they are the true church, they claim that the church was corrupt by man ! All of Christian’s church! But as far I was studying I found out that Jesus said : “I’m going to be with you until the end of the world Matthew 28:20” . I just started to think rationally: Or Jesus was lied or LDS doctrine does. And I just started my path to get out of the Mormon church. It was so painful 😢 but as soon I found out Jesus is my God I found happiness out of Mormon doctrine. I remember that for them the sacrament of the body of Christ is just a memory 😢it’s completely disgusting! Because Jesus said its Him ! 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 It’s really is the body and the blood of Jesus til he comes back again! Unfortunately people doesn’t take time to study the first Christian’s life, if they do like I did they will understand the meaning of the last supper. Gets way from LDS doctrine it’s not came from God.

Matthew 28:20 is Jesus talking directly to the Apostles and is meant for them only. Neither Jesus nor we lie, you just misunderstand. _"Unfortunately people doesn’t take time to study the first Christian’s life"_ Oh, as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I love reading the Early Church Fathers writings because they are the biggest proof that Joseph did restore Christianity to what was originally taught. Would you like examples? _" I remember that for them the sacrament of the body of Christ is just a memory"_ I am not sure exactly what this means, but what we teach is exactly what the early Christians taught.

@@elizabeth_margaret Joseph Smith wanted to spiritually seal families together horizontally, hence he was sealed to many people, including a young woman. However, she didn’t live as his “wife”, nor was their “marriage” consummated. It was more a gesture of connecting their two families together into eternity.

I'm leaving the LDS. And Polygamy is a topic that most shy away from. The church abandoned the practice due to pressure from the U.S. federal government. And of course in early Mormonism there were teenage marriages to older men that were consummated. Brigham Young, Lorenzo Snow, Wilford Woodruff, and John Taylor all had teen brides. Brigham Young even said that a man needed 3 wives for the highest degree of glory in the Celestial Kingdom. And for that reason you have many splinter groups of Fundamentalist Mormons who still practice polygamy. The Book of Mormon describes huge cities and many battles which there is no archeological evidence for. Also, it was said to be written in Reformed Egyptian which is a language scholars say doesn't exist and we haven't found one trace of it in the entire world let alone ancient America.
@steve-oh4342
@steve-oh4342 4 ай бұрын
there is plenty of evidence that the stuff Joseph Smith wrote was complete fiction. If you delve into the book of Abraham for example, Smith claimed to have translated from ancient Egyptian texts, it clearly shows that he did not understand the hieroglyphs referenced, he was just merely looking at the pictures and drawing his own conclusions, making it all up. According to Smith, the book of Abraham is supposed to be Abraham's own personal account written in his own hand. In actuality it is ancient Egyptian funerary text from the book of the dead.

@@laurievoss285 I have thought about this. And no doubt that we have built over much of what would have been ancient civilizations. The problem is the battles described in the BOM are too grandiose, there would definitely be remnants found. Not only that but not one trace of Reformed Egyptian has ever been discovered. I'm in the process of joining the Orthodox Church. Started taking classes weekly and attending the divine liturgies. It's truly the Church that Christ founded.

A lot of what you mentioned here is inaccurate. As time goes on, more and more evidence is being uncovered. People expect everything to be revealed to them by a certain deadline. If we're hand feed every single evidence, we wouldn't need to have faith and rely on the Holy Ghost for truth.

I agree with another comment made. Watch Test of a Prophet: The Bible vs. Joseph Smith and The Bible vs. the Book of Mormon by Expedition Bible. I would also add Mormon Stories, Mormonish, and Mormonism LIVE. The last 3 will give you a very good idea what Mormonism is about. After a few of those, you'll know more than the missionaries. Polygamy is still a doctrine in the mainstream Mormon church. The doctrine also includes concubines. Just read Doctrine and Covenants 132 (section 132). The missionaries carry that around with them.
