psn should give a default gyro setting so every game can get benefit of gyro

It's so frustrating that most AAA devs have no idea how to implement gyro well in their games. Instead of treating it like raw mouse-like input and a sensitivity slider for X and Y axis, which is usually the easiest to implement anyway, they seem to put in extra work that actually makes the motion controls feel far *worse* , with things like forced deadzones, forced acceleration and non-adjustable sensitivity. It's not like there aren't any good examples of gyro out there. Just look at MW2/WZ2, Splatoon and even No Mans Sky.

Same for when aim assist was for controllers to have any semblance of skill on consoles till Bungie cracked the code. Other devs still couldn't get it right for more than a decade after. This is easier as it's beyond spelled out and it's more simple hardware related as opposed to software.

It's funny that you bring up GOW Ragnarok as the gold standard...I keep on raving about it's implementation of gyro on the gyro subreddit on a nigh-weekly basis LOL

another is until dawn! it's a ps4 game but it still has great motion controls, for example; throughout the game you have to stay still (it says 'Don't move!') and you literally cannot move or something will happen, it's pretty cool and it was a great game imo

2:46 Resident evil 4 remakes gyro is bad but tbh if it was good. The games conbat would become so easy. It almost feel like it was intentional.

I never used it in my videos but maybe look at creating those "parts" or chapters in your video timelines for vids like this one where it can make some sense. I think I see some videos put the timelines in their descriptions as well. I would assume this would help a lot for SEO when people search these games in a general sense.

How the **** is Ragnarok the gold standard? It's not even a shooter. Devs, get it together. Gyro has been around for years now. There's no excuse.

I'm confused, sure it isn't a shooter, but they got gyro right, it feels like it should, the only problem is the lack of an option to change between yaw and roll mode. Other than that, it is one of the best implementations alongside shooters like CoD, Fortnite, Deathloop and Neon White.

Best game on steam to play with Gyro is Half-Life 2. They have a reset function that you can set to a double press on the reload button and the aim will reset to the horizon level.

Oh and on gyro in desthloop: doesn't that implementation lack a "recenter/gyro off" button? Other that that the sensitivity and all that stuff is fine...

Deathloop (PC) has good gyro? What are your settings for it. I remember I could not set a button to disable gyro when gyro is always on. I ended up just having gyro activate on ADS. Is that the best setting? Correct me if I'm wrong

Unfortunately Deathloop doesn't have a button to disable gyro, so the best option is to use traditional analog sticks + gyro or gyro while ADSing

Classic Splatoon fan over here, but it's odd how other games have yet to get the perfect Gyro implementation of Splatoon. One of the best decisions the devs made was to put a camera-rest button (Y) so even if you start your game and your controller was off, you don't have to move your hands. Just get in a comfortable position and press Y. It helps with the inevitable gyro-drift too. Also, gyro control's all directions of the camera but joystick only the horizontal one. It might look like a bad thing but it's actually the "correct" way, at least imo.
