I had a Insta pot for years with the bucket you pulled out and it was alright. The chips or fries cooked in it always seemed to be very dry if you wanted them crispy. We decided to upgrade less than a year ago tote Oster table top which is basically a small oven with heating elements top and bottom with two fans . One up top and one on the back wall. It fits a 12 inch (30 cm) pizza and we used it all summer outside rather than our full side oven. It’s leaps better and I suggest anyone who isn’t quite sold on air fryers to spend the money and get a large oven style with dual doors or one large door. It’s definitely worth it. The best part is there is no need to make multiple batches when you need to feed more than 2 people .

A couple things. With AliExpress, many sellers underprice products and then overprice shipping in order to place better in search results, so that particular air fryer was likely supposed to be more expensive. Also, can we really call that last one an "air" fryer? It didn't seem like it was pushing any air around at all. :P
@TamarLitvotАй бұрын
I see that shipping cost trick on a lot on sites. You'll see an item at a good price, but when you look at the shipping, it's awful. Sometimes that's because it has to be shipped internationally and that's legitimately expensive. But sometimes it's within the U.S. My guess is that the seller has to give a % of the price to the market site so they lower that price and jack up the shipping price.
@kevinh96Ай бұрын
HomCom is a legitimate brand, part of a much bigger group called Aosom (pronounced Awesome). The UK distributor is properly VAT and Companies House registered so my guess is that their air fryers (if bought from proper online retailers) conform to UK and EU safety regulations so that's why the HomCom one is better built than those other two.
@mrbarrylewisАй бұрын

It's really good getting an air fryer with a window because of how quick things are. We have a 12" boxy one and it helps being able to watch and stop it at the perfect time, and because it cooks so quickly it's more feasible to actually watch rather than a fan oven (we don't actually have an oven, nor a stove, we just have an air fryer and portable induction hobs, because it's cheaper and more flexible - we batch cook so we can scale up our cooking needs then and scale it down and have hobs in a drawer so our surfaces is clear, we can also split up cooking into multiple places or go outside)

10:57 One of the most important things about air fryers is the fan's position, which is directly behind the heating elements. It literally fries the food with intense hot air and it does it quickly. Unlike the conventional oven which their fan is not directly behind the heating elements and it just help the air circulation a little bit, and not effectively frying the food with hot air but just baking the food or roasting it.

Chips are generally recommended for 25 mins in the oven in my experience but your point is well taken.
@JeEhaOАй бұрын
40 minutes is insane, My frozen chips are cooked to perfection after 10-12 minutes with 180 degree. 20 minutes that he did in this video is even a little too much for me, I do not want my chips to get a brown almost burned color. The timer depends though since more crisps makes it harder for the air to circulate and I use a XXL airfryer so I can fit a lot without stacking too much. I never use pre-sets since they are mostly just a guess, I try some settings and write them down to have a list to look at.

I agree . He's wasting his money on these garbage appliances. He is getting the results that he's paying for. If he really wants to test air fryers then he needs to get much higher quality ones than these. He also needs to research cooking in an air fryer instead of just going in blind. The cook times, prep, and temperatures are all different. Before I got mine, I watched loads of YT vids, especially from Empowered Cooks, to learn as much as I could. Unfortunately, I think he's just doing this for views and to show how ridiculous he thinks air fryers are.

I don’t know how applicable this is to UK, but in America, you can only run one air fryer on an electrical circuit, two of them will quickly pop the breaker. I assume the dual drawer ones are set up so the heat doesn’t ever run on both sides at the same time. So buying two of them might not be such a great option.
@HaralHeistoАй бұрын
It's not applicable in the UK. We can draw 3000w from any socket, and 7680w from a normal ring main circuit. Given these air fryers are all around 1300w, you can run a good few of them at the same time safely.

for a cheap good one find one with a glass bowl(all the electronics in the top). added bonus you can look at it as it is cooking. shouldn't be that expensive either, if you can find one. they're popular in asia, the small local ""pizza""" stalls use them. and a decent price for a small closed up one like that is indeed like 10-15 euros. it's not like that they don't work(if they're not broken) they're just small, so very small. a bigger glass bowl one you can cook the entire meal in there.. stick some chicken breast and potato wedges rolled in oil and spices and at strategic moment put in some cream mixed with crushed peppers. recipe also works for pork tenderloin.

Does your air fryer say to add a teaspoon of oil when fixing chips or other fried frozen foods? The one I bought my Grandmother does, but you have to watch where you put the oil or the fan could pick up the oil and catch fire.

I think what we learned today was not to buy a green air fryer. Lol didn't realise someone else had made this joke already

It's a shame honestly that the good brands don't offer more fun colors. I really love the color of the really really cheap one. lol Like it looks like a coffee machine from the 90's with that nice hunter green. lol

the homecon(roberto) looks pretty much the same as the one i have. similar thing with the rubber toes, the screen is the exact same, the presets are the exact same. honestly, it's a pretty good one imo. i never use the presets tho, i find them to not be very good. that's the only negative i have on it. because i make fries on mine regularly, and the preset would just burn them. i put it at 10 mins for 200c and they're good. if i was doing something in it prior, then i count it as preheating and only put the fries for 8 minutes
