graemec 09, not all college students are broke. I live in a big college town and if you go in the spring/fall when they leave there are all kinds of things set out as garbage-furniture, electronics, kitchen stuff-perfectly fine. When daddy's paying, apparently it's too much trouble to move.

Love the indigogo products, expecially the toastie, I love cheese toasties. But the electric ones get so messy so quickly and are so hard to clean, love the fact that this pops in the microwave, o not another big electric gadget and then you can can wash in the sink after! I'm certainly getting one of them when they come out, and the jacket one too, tyvm Barry for showing us these prototypes!
@sunstripe857 жыл бұрын
sillyfatmoocow you should definitely back them if you are able :) on some of these products if they don't get enough backers they never actually make it available to the public which would be a shame. I agree with you that they're really cool, I'm tempted by the potato one myself :) ps: you may have meant you are backing it and not waiting until it was available to the public but just in case anybody doesn't get how Indiegogo works and read your comment I wanted to clarify that, because they seem like really cool products so I really hope they get enough backers. I checked their site now and they're about halfway to their goal

I like the idea that I could pack up a sandwich in the container, take it with me to work, put it in the fridge, and then pop it in the microwave. I wonder if it can go from the fridge to the microwave without it shocking the material? It's dishwasher safe too! how easy is that clean up?
@Femme_Elf7 жыл бұрын
I have a grill thing that has plates one side is flat one side is grill. You can take of the plates to wash them really easily. It makes great toasties but you can also grill meat/fish/veggies on it and do all kinds of things. But the electric ones that are specially for toasties aren't great no.

The idea that products of accessibility are laughed at as 'lazy hacks' is so ableist and I'm so thankful you always mention about these being made for disabled too. Thanks Barry, not a lot of KZbinrs who cover these kind of gadgets in their videos mention it. Much love from a disabled viewer.

Here Here! I've actually purchased a gadget Barry featured in a previous video (the Kuhn Ricon can opener... Episode 13, I think) and I can't tell you HOW many times it has made cooking SO much easier for me!!
@Stettafire7 жыл бұрын
The great thing about making things accessible to people with disabilities is that it also makes things easier for people without disabilities too. It's great that more manufacturers are thinking outside the box and it helps more people be more independent while also helping people without disabilities be more efficient in the kitchen. It's good for everybody:)

I don't think people mean to be ableist, they probably just haven't considered that disabled people may struggle with everyday tasks and therefore find the products useful. That's why it's good that Barry is pointing out that the products are beneficial to disabled people so others are aware of that.

I have the mico potato, and it's fantastic! No preheating an oven, and living on my own, this gadget makes a quick and tasty meal. If you plan on making more than one serving at a time, I wouldn't recommend this method - the mico potato gets way too hot for more than one session in the microwave without letting it cool down in between.

They should invent a no spill bowl for people like me with virtually no motor skills I can't make a cake without losing half my flour because I struggle with the spoon,even something like a stretchy washable silicone inward faceing lip would be good because then it could go on saucepans too since silicone isn't effected by heat as badly as some other materials.if you find something like this please test it I'm looking for something effective but still practical.(also before anyone says I've tried different spoons it dosent help and I can't afford a stand mixer)
