I think I solved the Engine Prime Denon LC6000 it needs a 2 channel dj mixer

On todays show I discuss why I believe the LC6000 needs a 2 channel mixer to be attractive to DJs who like Denon but use a computer or DJs who don't have the money to buy a SC6000 or the full prime system. I am convinced Denon needs to make a replacement to Serato and Virtual DJ what do you think am I way off?

How does this product help grow engine prime user base???? The reality is that it doesn't. The solution in my opinion is to make a new mixer or dj software like serato for Denon because this is useless to engine prime users who don't care about 4 channel mixing.

It's just a controller. It's literally called the LC... "Layer controller"... It's core duty is to be a physical jog for Denon's players with third and fourth layers. Yes they added DJ software controller support but it's really to use with Denon's standalone gear... They're working on the prime 4 integration as we speak.

This is actually all I ever wanted. A modular controller that can be hooked up to a standalone mixer. Because all in one controllers do not necessarily have the mixer that’s quite up to par with standalone mixers and because the mix is done internally in software (only am aware of DDJ-SZ that was built with “external” mix function). Would like to see external monitor(s) accessory of some kind so in theory one would be used for waveforms and the other for browser.

Denon upset the scene by taking "controller" features and putting them on a stand alone unit. Then doubled down with that approach with the sc series. Controller features in a place the market wasn't expecting. Now they show us a modular support unit to work in the ecosystem. And will also work with their partners in theirs a well. I would be surprised if this was their only accessory in the pipeline. And i would not be surprised at all if they introduced a mappable version of their software to make it truly modular.

Man.....I've been saying this for ages. Make a standalone mixer with a screen / hard drive, etc that you can connect any type of player too (including LC6000s). .....however if such a Mixer were to exist along with the LC6000s, wouldn't that essentially be a Prime 4 with "large jog wheels" (like it should have been in the first place)?

Preach on the need for a mixer. I do like the my lc with a battle mixer but really want prime mixer with stand alone.

Right and its supported by serato. They removed all the bells and whistles on the rear of the unit. Its also USB powered but also have the a/c power as well. Check out the video that MoJaxx or LaidBackLuke put out there using these. MoJaxx is using them with a mixer and LBL is using it with his Prime gear...

I disagree with your interpretation and or opinion. It appears you're wanting everything that Denon makes from here on to be standalone. I think of the #lc6000 as sort of a RANE turntable in a sense. Yes, you're going to need a mixer, a computer, or an SC5K/6K etc. So sorry to disagree my friend but I think your complaint seems irrelevant. I'm actually waiting for the motorized version to come out before I make a move. Thanks for sharing.

I think you misunderstood I'm asking the question, is this out of character for what type of gear/software they have released so far? I thought I was more clear but the LC on its own is useless to Engine Prime software you need to pair it with other hardware. My point was if Denon wants to build up the Engine Prime software this release doesn't make sense without a mixer or some sort of Serato type dj software by Denon to use it as a controller.

I too would like to see a motorized version but part of me sees that as very unlikely. Why? Because it will clearly eat into sales of both the Rane 12 (and maybe Rane One). I think people would clearly prefer a smaller, lighter, more portable version of the 12....right?

@@DJKeo I think it's a smart business move to be flexible. The LC6k is just a controller that works along side of the denon players and it can be used with any mixer and most software's

In music when asked about product development for certain brands they will direct you to the brand that they hold responsible for certain products. For example I asked if Numark was going to develop a v7 Mark II they told me if I were interested in a spinning platter look towards Denon and their 5000 M's or Rane 12, so they probably would tell you if you want a 2-channel mixer to look at the rane or Numark mixers.

@@DJKeo to me they have a regimented way of thinking. We are supposed to be satisfied with 4 channel mixing. I just told the DJ friend of mine I'm more of a 2-channel mixer type of DJ I even own an old-school DNX 300 with that being said I would love to see a 2-channel version of the 1850 but I doubt that they will oblige

@@DJKeo to answer your question as to how does this help engine Prime grow I think they developed this product because of complaints about switching from deck a to deck B this gives you the physical control of the other layer without pressing a button. I don't know if this would help it grow but it just simplifies things

@@elliel2k2 yeah but the amount of djs who need four decks control is niche the majority of users only play on average 2 songs together. I would also leverage the fact that most djs use a laptop connected to a controller or mixer so if the goal was to move engine prime up from 2% and get into double digits this doesn't seem helpful. I don't think that this product is bad alot of people looked at it and said this is great for serato or virtual dj and thats the thing that is so confusing for me. Very few people want to get this and use it as it was intended most want to use it with a competitors dj software.

I think it's a big opportunity missed that the LC6000 did not include an RCA out. Ok... yes. I get it. It's main purpose is to be a companion for the sc5000/6000 media players and they come with two RCA outs, along with accompany 4 channel controllers with two decks. That's awesome, but I do have a problem with their marketing touting it as a controller for Serato, VDJ, and DJay pro going as far as print it right on the box. I'm going to use Djay pro for an example since I used it with my XDJ-700, two Pioneer media players with their own RCA out plugged into a mixer. I did this since it was the only DJ software that uses Spotify which unfortunately is no longer supported. I enjoyed using DJay pro but their software mixer is crap, though has improved a little recently. Back then when using a controller, the EQ was not full kill and the filter had to much resonance making it unusable. But using the XDJ-700s having the RCA out plugged into my DJM-450 mixer, it was amazing. It was a joy to be able to have a club like kit with a streaming catalog of tracks to practice and test out songs before buying for my gigs. This is the part that burns me. Once again, LC6000 on the box says it's compatible with Djay Pro, but I need to use a mixer that has USB. DJay Pro native list of mixers are very limited so honestly... what's the point. What's the point of using the LC6000 as a software controller on Djay Pro other then being an extension of a 4 channel 2 jog wheel controller. Here's the real point I'm trying to get to. There is no DJ software controller current and active right now in the market that gives the option to use any hardware mixer. If the LC6000 had an RCA out, then you could have two of them running any DJ software and have the RCA cables plug into any mixer of your choosing. Just any mixer... small, big, rotary... my DJM-450 is not compatible with Serato, but using a LC6000 that has RCA out, it would work. There is no controller that is current and active in the market right now that can do this. This is why I feel that the LC6000 not having RCA is a big opportunity missed. To say that RCA out would jack up the price of the LC6000 would be foolish, specially since the XDJ-700 a stand alone player from pioneer is at the same price.

When they work with the Prime 4 standalone this solves the issue. Why buy an LC6000 for $700 when for the same price you can get an SC5000? This should have been $449.

I think this would significantly drive down the price of a full setup of media players. Denon should come out with a 4 channel mixer and I want a 2 channel mixer from Rane.

You've got a weird take on it. It's primary function, 1st & foremost, is a Layer controller for Engine...hence LC. If Denon left it at that, which is what everyone initially thought it was going to be then you wouldn't even be making this video because you'd have no reason to think it was "incomplete". Everything else that it does is just icing on the cake. So why would you think it's missing something and expect it be something nobody expected it to be? They threw everyone a bone but by doing so, now it's incomplete and missing something? I think you are totally looking at it all wrong. I have a pair of 6000Ms & X1850 and I picked up a pair of LCs the day they hit the shelves and judging by all the posts on the Denon forums & social media groups, there's a boatload of pre-existing SC users that did the same. So why you would think that it isn't a priority for Prime users baffles me. Nor do I think they need a DVS. That defeats the purpose of the Prime series. The main selling point of the Prime series is the stand-alone aspect & ditching the laptop. A Denon DVS is a complete contradiction of what Prime represents. If you're a Prime user that means you've already committed to doing away with the laptop. So why would you push for them to put it back into the equation? If Denon implemented this mixer that you think they're "missing" then all that makes this system is Denon's version of Twelves and a 72 and they'd just be competing with themselves. Manufacturing a DVS wouldn't be a game changer for Denon. Pioneer made Rekordbox but yet they're flagship controllers are still cross compatible with Serato. So it's not like Pioneer was able to cut the umbilical cord because they have their own DVS. So why the hell would Denon think a DVS would benefit them?

I have a prime 4. Why wouldn’t I want to pay 699 for another deck instead of 1700 ? You clearly dont know much about this gear. The lc6000 works with literally every DJ software along with a controller. All the prime controllers now all work with software as well. I am as confused by your confusion as you are by this gear. There is a reason the whole community is super excited about this it’s just common sense.

I’ve not seen a single thing about this being sold as a stand alone unit lol. How could that even be if it only works being used as a layer controller ? Period
