I Thought It Was A Grizzly At First

No binoculars yesterday, saw 'something' in the willows slowly moving along, looked like a big grizzly at first.

I've had the opposite happen to me, in Alaska. Saw a "moose" across a gully in high grass. When it seemed to get my, or my dog's, scent, it whirled around and stood up sniffing. (Huge coastal brown bear). Then it raced down into the gully toward us. This was above treeline, in early May. There were still patches of snow here and there, melting. No trees. I moved quickly into a deep snow patch and got down real low (Heart was pounding in my ears!) Had a light rifle with me and figured the snow might slow him enough to allow another shot. Didn't know what else to do. I was relieved (very) to see him climb back up to where he was before and continue what he was doing there... digging out ground squirrels. He was very hungry. Don't think he ever knew we were there. We quietly left.

I've seen whitetail doe do the same turkey hunting with my daughter. It was quite the beat down before the young deer got the point. They entertained us for 30min at least.
