I feel like classic fixed is like those competitions where 6 people have their hands on a car and the last one to take it off wins the car. If you can make it to mid game you hope no one suicides into you and you have the patience to keep playing.

I couldn’t figure out how Pete was so fast at first, so I studied him. Then I realized his camera didn’t move every time he attacked a territory. When I looked for a way to change my own that way, I found the animation. Problem solved.

Great comment about trust in relationships near the end starting at 1:12:20 . One of the best ways I've heard that put. Not what I expected to find while watching game streamers to find tips for a friend wanting to start a channel (with very different games), but definitely going to be sharing that. That was the highlight of the last 100+ hours of streams from small youtubers and mid size gaming channels. just *chef's kiss*...Made me switch from a smart tv playing in the background to my computer just to comment. Thank you. Great videos and production quality too. I didn't expect someone to be able to make streams of Risk entertaining, but you succeed sir. This channel is going to get added to those I watch at least semi-regularly.

If you happen to read this, any advice for someone starting out making videos? The advice you give seems to be pretty good; though I guess that should be expected from a risk player. The friend interested in making content tends more toward games such as the Sims series, Mario games, and other classic Nintendo games.
@TheKillPeteStrategy
@TheKillPeteStrategy 8 ай бұрын
I'm grateful to hear that resonated for you. The advice I would give to anyone trying to make video is understand why you're doing it. For me I ask what is the value proposition of the audience's time. Why should they watch? Your time is not free so I aim to produce something of the highest quality that I can come up with and hope you like it vs what a lot of people do and try to get views and clicks and likes etc. without focusing on the product. I hope that makes sense.

I only play classic fixed because it's the only mode I truly find enjoyable and dynamic enough. I can't really maintain a top leaderboard position, and I've certainly had streaks of terrible, terrible luck, but bad streaks withholding it's pretty possible to maintain grandmaster and maybe even top 300 consistently and I've gotten top 12 before. By the way, what do you think about changing balanced blitz so that rolling with > 100% gives better rolls instead of worse? Seems more intuitive and would make the game sharper, troops more valuable. I'd definitely say 100 people jumping a single person means that person is much less likely to do some damage than if fighting 3 people.

Every now and then, mix it up. Say, "Come along with the ride for me." just to see if anyone catches it. Idea for a game mechanic. Reserves. You don't necessarily have to place every troop you have at hand. You can "deploy" some to a special, personal territory that does nothing else but hold those troops, but on a future deploy phase, you are free to redeploy those reserve troops to absolutely any territory you hold, but you have to deploy them all at once and to only one territory. Holding troops in reserve could enable a player to bring a surprise army to any battlefront, but it means you have fewer troops on the board at any given time, which means you could be defeated while you technicly still had troops, but if they're in reserve and not on the board, they don't count in that way. The reserves counts in no way, including and especially for bonuses and number of territories held.

@TheKillPeteStrategy
@TheKillPeteStrategy 4 ай бұрын
It's not any players responsibility to do anything special if they accidentally find themselves in a lobby with a streamer. What I would do is I wouldn't watch the game and I wouldn't say anything and then it's fine. You shouldn't have to bot out if you didn't do anything wrong.

I think classic fixed is always about how players view each other's actions, even if the settings state no alliances. Your actions in the game are viewed by all, and that can and will affect who gets suicided into. Patience is important, but so was all the obnoxious blocking other people's bonuses behaviour which Pete stayed out of, merely making it clear that he wanted his bonus and for blockers to leave. I don't think it was an accident that blue suicided purple. Well played, good win.

NA becomes a quagmire if the SA player is a bad neighbor, not even worth fighting for imo. If I'm going for NA and the SA player doesnt put a stack in asia i bail immediately, unless it's a really good start. even single stack in asia is better than NA with a bad SA neighbor because since they get their bonus quicker and have less territories to spread out in and only 2 guards they'll always have the upper hand and be able to keep you off of the bonus. Best to let someone else deal with that, or plant your stack in europe and screw over the europe player. He'll either stay in europe and there will be no +5's on the board, which makes for an interesting classic fixed game, or he'll move to NA and he and the africa player can deal with the noob

I feel like the commentor misrepresented accelerationism. The point of it being that capitalism is doomed to fail by design but it is impossible to exit capitalism due to it's strong grip on society. The only way to exist late stage captialism and enter a "better" society (which society is dependent on who you ask) by accelerating the already certain downfall of the current system and rebuilding society in the new system from the ashes of the old world.

@@TheKillPeteStrategy well look at America for example. Democrats keep saying that maga Republicans are a threat to their "democracy". Democracy is just used as a buzzword here because we are a constitutional republic. So when they keep saying "threat to democracy" what they are saying is "convincing other groups of people to not vote for us" so you have to be careful when people say democracy because once these evil people get "voted" in it's only a matter of time before evil people use their power to become socialist which always leads to communism which has killed more people than any other type of governance in world history
