I thought this was a dead chicken…

As I walked up to this critter on our Florida homestead, I thought this was a chicken taking a bath in an odd position. But as I got closer I realized it was a possum. And it wasn’t playing possum this time! Yes, I got “rid” of it off camera !

It looks like an injured Opossum. Like teeth marks on its back. Opossums are gentle creatures

They eat chickens. We have chickens. We also have guardian dogs that protect our farm. They did their job.

I have possums on my farm they dont hurt anything. That one looks hurt.😢

They eat chickens and ours were out free ranging.

@@anjellalo972 they do eat grown chickens. As for our chickens, they are inside at night. As for our dogs, good for them! Why, because animals can climb over and under fences to harm animals and our dogs protect them.

The last thing you wanna do is mess with that possum. Just like raccoons possums don’t come out during the day. They only do it when they are sick and sick with things like rabies.

Possums can't carry rabies generally. Their body temperature is too low.

@@jaybrowning2225 I had pet yet wild possums for years where I’m from in Florida. They were wild yet. They were like my pets almost like a stray cat lol they are a clean animal harmless. They just look scary.

Rabies would be my main concern...I like living in a country that's rabies free.....

Opossum have a body temperature that is too low to carry rabies. It's not impossible,but extremely, extremely unlikely.

@@labrat7380 lol... I still love living in Ireland... There's literally no wild animals, full NHS health care paid for by a national insurance system.
