Agree, they're getting picks and hitting some nice head shots. I would be OK with a widow like that. Low hit rate on Mei doesn't say that much. Projectile heroes always tend to have a lot of missed shots, because they rely on prediction. Even very good Hanzo players whiff a lot. You expect a target to zig, but often they zag instead even though they shouldn't.

I really can't stand people that just latch on to "their aim sucks so they're terrible at the game" like dude even top 500 players can always improve on their own aim and this is gold so no shit they aren't gonna have flawless aim. Good aim might help you win a fight, but good positioning will help you win the game. I applaud the person that submitted this because I love those days when I'm really dialed in with widow but I never have had the confidence to play her in ranked and even on my better characters I'd never have the confidence to submit a game for Emongg to review so they have my respect for having vastly more confidence than I do.

​​@@aguila7686 No, it really isn't. Saying "aim better" isn't advice. It's a hollow criticism. Everyone's aim gets better with practice without even thinking about it. If you don't think about your positioning though it'll never get better. People will keep taking absurdly long flanks, LOS their supports, and die far away from their team. Saying "maybe adjust your settings" is actual advice, but it's still going to take time for the individual player to hone their muscle memory. Saying "do it better" means absolutely nothing. The difference between advice and criticism is that advice offers a potential solution to the problem while just saying "You're doing this wrong. Do it better" is empty criticism with nothing of substance.

i do really appreciate the defense on their aim. people in lower ranks tend to say "oh well their aim is bad, therefore THEY are bad and thatll fix all their problems". overwatch is a very complex game in the sense that having great aim wont automatically put you in high rank. even people in t500 miss their shots every now and again

Aim comes with time. It just does. It’s a practice thing. But being told not to do a specific play in a situation so that they survive is something far quicker to implement. You can’t just be like “ah aim better”, because you will with time and practice. That’s all you can use. Plus their aim was great. Wasn’t top 500 but nothing to scoff at, they did great that game.

It's amazing what taking Emongg's advice about positioning can do for your games. The only down side is if you primarily do QP then getting into ranked is a pain because at bronze the odds of getting a team that doesn't go off on random adventures is almost impossible.

@@mimthyss A kill is only as useful as it's impact. If you get a kill but die right after you did nothing. If you get a kill on a sombra you chased down but it cost your team a point is it good then? If you kill an enemy and mercy revives it but you get spammed out because of it you cost your team the fight. Kills only matter when they have benefit. Like letting a baby DVA stay up for 5-10 seconds to try and stagger the enemy team. Does getting the point matter any less if you get it without killing a single enemy?

Problem I noticed is the reason they were LOS or distanced from their sups was because they were pumping all their heals straight up their tanks ass all game. If they swapped to a more brawly hero (like when they were on mei) they would have moved with their tank and the supports would also be there naturally

One thing I don’t see vid coachings talk about is pinging enemies. Especially if the person doesn’t use comms, it’s so useful. Things like flanks or sombra’s are easier foiled with a simple ping. Also, when you feel like you’re not getting healed, switch off and adapt to something that’s better self sustaining or mobiled lol

They definitely got better and won the fight several times, but I'm convinced that they should have swapped at the end of defense. If they were more consistent in picks widow is great, but they were consistently dove and barely pressured. They're really good, but having an aggressive dps to swap to is a great tool to have and I think can help them in situations where the enemy recognizes they're a good widow. Also if they went for more bodies on low characters that'd probably save more people. Dinking an enemy isn't neccesary when they're low or it's a sombra hacking someone, sometimes it's better to take a faster shot that'll more likely hit.

That random user trashing the Widow’s aim is exactly how it is. I’m a Bronze DPS and my aim isn’t consistent in the slightest. I struggle with getting overwhelmed (it’s obvious people target Widow, but I keep getting dogpiled playing Sojourn as well) and it’s hard to keep up aim under pressure. I remember in my first few hours of the game (not playing comp, just Unranked), I would get yelled at and called useless by my teammates playing Widow Bcs I was struggling with the basics of the game. Emongg is right in that there’s so much more to the game than aim. I mean, look at characters like Lucio and Moira. Aim isn’t important on those characters as much as their impact on the game. And there’s plenty of top 500 Moiras and Lucios out there.

Emongg's glorious positivity is a double-edged sword here. Aim aside, I think there's merit to giving the feedback that he shouldn't have been playing Widow. If his goal is strictly to improve his Widow play, then sure, you give feedback where you can and assume aim will improve. But his goal is clearly to win and climb, which was illustrated by the fact he swapped to Mei on defense. This feels like an instance where a player is forcing Widow because they occasionally hit shots and feel good about it. Widow's job is to get fight opening or fight ending picks, but he was mostly getting elims in fights that were already won or lost. There are so many heroes that have a similar playstyle to Widow that could have provided exponentially more value to his team, and that's worth acknowledging if you really want to climb.

Where and how you take fights can be improved easily and immediately. Aim takes time and practice (which you get every game all game). Positioning gives you easier shots and more time/room to think. It's not a mountain. It's a labyrinth. Progress is around a corner.

i dont think their aim is bad per se. i think they just have shit sensitivity with a really small mousepad combo. look for example 14:45 how their crosshair is moving like a constrained space for the wrist is the issue. they just need to smooth that out and they will, in combination with good positioning and awareness, climb even more

I was in silver recently now plat1 and only because I realized evading is 90% of the game. I wouldn't mind submitting a video, id love to hear what I'm doing wrong. I quite often have more then double the healing, half the deaths than the other healer, not that I'm trying to diss it, but it's about every other game where our tank says things like "this lw is a god" and I pair well with tanks that acknowledge a healer desperately trying to save them lol...
