Oh yea we did that back in the 80’s. But it is so messy. That’s the drawback. It also makes my lashes more “crunchy”. Drier formulas work better. Not as messy. But it deff looks more dramatic if you’re in the mood. My sister used to have me hold a tissue to protect her eyeshadow when she did hers growing up Lol what else are little sisters for

@tammiemartinez64852 жыл бұрын
Not that I don't believe you but I don't remember this technique from the 80's. The one my sister did was apply the mascara then take a sewing needle to separate them. Sounds scary I know but she never once poked her eyes. We have long, thick/full, curly, black lashes to begin with (Thanks Dad! ❤) Well, 2 of us do. What we were looking for was separation. That's still the same thing I'm looking to achieve so no. Won't be trying this. Another reason? I know it's easy to get mascara off the skin but I detest having to do it. I get a little bit irrational just waiting for it to dry so I can, lol...
@veronicamcminn77752 жыл бұрын
@@tammiemartinez6485 lol. I know I hate when I get mascara glob I know to let it dry but I hate it too! Lol. Yes I’ve heard of people using the needle. Glad no one poked an eye out lol.

@@veronicamcminn7775 Doesn't it seem like it takes forever to dry, too? LOL! Yeah, I'm glad as well. I use to sit there just watching her do it. She spent the most time on her lashes out of everything else, haha. Though she no longer does the needle "technique" 😬 mascara is the only product she'll put on now. I use to love watching my sister and one of my cousins put their makeup on. My cousin would really take her time doing a full face. And her nails? Omgee, they were LONG and beautifully done. That was in the 70's. She didn't have our long lashes so it was falsies for her. In fact until I started watching beauty YT I hadn't seen anyone else using falsies in my neck of the woods. Oh, the memories... 😁

Way back in The Olden Days, when I was just learning about makeup, I read a tip to apply your mascara first, and then your eyeshadow. I did my eyes this way for years. I got out of the habit as I got older, but with Chris's mascara technique, it might be a good time to try it that way again! His way does produce a fatter lash faster. I think I'll play with it, too. Thanks for the demo, Charlotte!

Both look great, but I don’t know if I see enough difference to make me want to put up with the extra amount of mess and clean up to get to the small amount of extra volume? Maybe for a night out or special occasion rather than every day? But then I can see myself being fully furious if I mucked up a really good eyeshadow and made that part look worse! Really interesting to see though - will look forward to seeing how you like it as you continue trying it!

I love the look it gives you, it’s awesome! I’m with you, not down with the mess…but I might have to give it a go because I do love a fat, dramatic lash. Also, I don’t know if you’ve tried using a dry brow spoolie to remove the transfer from your lid once it’s completely dried? I personally find it affects your eyeshadow/make up underneath considerably less than using a q tip as it just dry brushes it off - not my idea, got it from Sali Hughes! We’ve been putting mascara on for decades and it’s funny how we don’t even think about doing it… We just do it. A while back I was purchasing Charlotte Tillberry pillow talk mascara. On the website it was a video on how to apply. Again, like I’ve said who even thinks about watching a mascara application video🤷♀️… Anyway I watched it and it held my interest…. Video talked about how the Charlotte Tilbury mascara wand is flat on one side and bristles on the other… In the video the model demonstrates that the flat side of the wand is to be placed at the base of the lashes and push them up. Hold that wand up against the base then twist and blink at the same time… It was a little awkward at first. I’m so used to combing the wand through that it took some time getting used to the “ twist and blink“ technique 😄… it worked really well and similar to this technique..👏👏👏👏

That's my issue too! Thanks to lash serum, my lashes are pretty long, but it's the volume that I'm after...and that's what makes this so tempting. 🤔 On the other hand, my lashes grow and naturally want to stay straight down so if I don't get a good curl on them, then the effect (pointing down from the "back-combing") would be there to stay. If something weighs them down then I'm dunzo. I'm hoping someone of there can speak to the lash curling issue. ❤️❤️❤️

you can get exactly the same look without the weird mess by just using a decent buildable mascara and wiggling the brush through the lashes (which deposits more mascara)and building it up while still wet. Hourglass caution/estee lauder lengthening mascara (the original one) do this perfectly and don't clump up or give you weird lumps on the ends. or just use a decent lash base coat like lash paradise, which will give you 3x the length and volume with no mess and fussing about.

So I think the final verdict is, women with sparse or fine lashes would benefit, but those with already nice lashes may look too heavy and unnecessary in my opinion x
