I Tried First Custom Doll My Little Pony OOAK Dollightful Guided mlp

Today I tried my first custom My Little Pony figurine ooak. I watch a lot of Dollightful's videos to help guide me and some of the products/techniques were used from her videos. We will customize Princess Twilight and Rainbow Dash. I used apoxie sculpt, Acrylic paints, and fun.

When removing a face you need ACETONE, you can use nailpolish remover but be sure it's at least got acetone in it. 100% acetone is ideal but can melt the plastic if you aren't careful

Also, holding it for that long doesn't really help as Aceton and Isoproanole (aka Aceton free nail polish remover) both evaporate quickly

I remeber the first time I tried to remove paint off a pony, same thing happened to me with the nail polish remover. It smeared EVERYWHERE. 100 percent acetone for the win, made my life better the day I picked it up.

Like others have mentioned, you can use 100% acetone to remove the paint on the dolls. You can also use the boil-washing method to tame the doll hair. Just a few tips in case you decide to continue doing custom dolls, which I would love to see. If you decide to do more custom MLPs, may I suggest recreating the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse as ponies... you can show the dark side of cute with that theme. :)

Boil washes can be really hard with mlp dolls (Idk if their heads still detach but the earlier gens were hard to get water out of if you got it in there). Hair dryers can also give enough heat depending on the type of hair, you just need to keep it in the position you want

Dont boilwash mlp manes since their hair is only made of cheap nylon so itll get frizzy :( i suggest you iron it instead

Not on a plastic doll like this. The acetone melts plastic and releases nasty fumes. Source: I'm an idiot and did this on some dolls

IroSquared Boku it depends on the type of plastic, most doll customizers work with the same brand so they’re familiar and know wether or not acetone works. When using a new brand of dolls (and a new type of plastic) they’ll usually do a small acetone test on the back of the dolls head.

If you wanna re-root the hair you stick the pony in hot water for a couple of minutes and the head SHOULD come off and you can take the hair out from the inside!! :) have a good day.

your doll customization skills are coming along so nicely!! theyre both aweseom :D quick tip: if you still want to change the hair of the figures without rerooting, you can try trimming the dolls hair and using a glue-weft techniques to attach on all new hair without the use of a needle! goodluck :D

My dear Jackie, three small pieces of advise from someone whose watched way too many Dollightful videos: First off, make sure as others have commented to use acetone nail polish remover. Pure acetone may be too strong as it could melt the plastic so dilution may be needed (side note: if you need to remove sharpie from anything use acetone it will work!). Secondly, she usually pours boiling water over the hair to get all of it to go down, and ises a chop stick just to style. I would suggest using a metal clay tool instead of a knife as it will give you more control. Lastly, she always wears gloves when sculpting with apoxy sculpt as it is not he best stuff to get on your hands. Anyway great first attempt.

Late Victorian / early Edwardian. Keep in mind Victoria was a very long-reigning queen - so her style shifted from what we in the US call antebellum style (think Gone With the Wind or Little Women - Yes, I know they aren't perfectly accurate, but that's the general shape) through the bustle era. :)

If you're really into psychological thrillers, I definitely recommend "ERASED" and "Another" (they're in my top favorites), and if you're in the mood to cry your little salty heart out "Wolf's Rain" is so good! I started watching anime more in my high school days, because the only anime I watched as a kid was Naruto lol the rest were cartoons early in the morning before school on Disney like Brandy And Mr. Whiskers, The Proud Family, and one other one I can't remember the name of. Then I came home and watch Nickelodeon stuff. I hardly watched Cartoon Network, at least from what I remember.

Jackie if you soften the head by heating up the head with a hair dryer or hot water it should make it easier for when you attempt to reroot a doll in the future. Also acetone is what you need in for removing the factory paint.

I did a couple of customs what helps is taking a melde from a sowing maschiene they are usually smaller and poke extra holes between the once that are already there. And put less hair in wach hole

I'm super glad you are trying customizing. You have to use 100% acetone to remove the face paint. I've made the mistake of rubbing alcohol.
