Floatation therapy is a sensory deprivation treatment which people use for pain relief and meditation.
You lie in water for around an hour which is full of Epsom salts to help you float. The tank is sealed, which means you lie in complete darkness and silence. Some people say the treatment can even be hallucinatory.
Business Insider's Tech reporter Rob Price went to Floatworks in Vauxhall, London to try it out. This is his experience.

I did it, AMAZING. You have the option to play soft music or turn the lights off while you're in there. It's not scary at all and you have the option to exit how ever you please. The magnesium salts are really good for your muscles AND when I came out I felt so relaxed.

Sorry but I've done this a few times and never experienced these things...it is very relaxing and does help with soreness along with other health benefits. I do recommend doing this once a week if possible as I suffer from back pain and does help👍

@Yuri Gagarin everyone has different experiences. But in all honesty, it helped me with neck & shoulder pain. Time seems slow whilst your in there. But as soon as its finished felt like 20 mins instead of an hour. Just do it if you have the opportunity 😊👍

For the best results Joe Rogan recommends taking an abundance of edibles and once you hit that “oh shit” state jumping straight in the float tank 😂

I'd recommend ketamine or any other dissociative personally. It works much more in line with the outer body feelings induced by the floatation tank.

You can leave the pod open or adjust the lighting if the darkness is too much. You are fully in control of the situation.

Claustrophobia - an irrational or disproportionate fear of being in small or confined places and BEING UNABLE TO ESCAPE. Key words in the definition. A good Floatation centre operator will discuss this with you and show you the floatation pods/chambers before you float. The best way to minimise these worries - Can you drive/be a passenger in a car for an hour? If you answer YES, then you should float with little issues ...

Does anyone know if using this to treat PTSD, if it has to be continued weekly or bi weekly or anything?
@laur-unstagenameactuallyca1587
@laur-unstagenameactuallyca1587 3 жыл бұрын
please get a therapist first and talk to them because if you have PTSD and do it, you could accidentally dredge up bad memories/experiences and give you flashbacks except you'll be alone in the dark and won't have anyone to walk you through it. Happened to me, worst experience of my life, had a full blown panic attack and started dissociating and re-traumatized myself lol. It's my fault for being a dumbass tho, my mom said I should wait to talk to my therapist about doing it beforehand and she was right

Jumping in on your old comment, I’ve done 5 sessions now and it has helped my PTSD no end. I can nearly accept it fully now as a part of me and move forward, imagine in a few more sessions I’ll be even better. Helped much more than anything else I’ve tried, I would wait until you are the point in your recovery when you are ready to accept the trauma and no longer have serious side effects from it such as panic disorder/DiD etc. Highly recommended.
