I love black liquorice! The first time I had it I was about 4, maybe less, and there was this giant candy shop across the supermarket where my family usually did groceries. One day and my mum took me there and I saw those black strings inside a box and asked for one piece and my mum thought "Well, why not?" assuming it would be a good laugh because apparently, no one likes that thing*, little did she know it was my all-time favourite. * I assume no one likes it because it was discontinued, you can't even find it in candy shops or supermarkets. When I was 20 I went on a trip to France and needed change for the metro tickets so I went to a newspaper stand and bought a tin of pure liquorice mints and the owner was like "That's terrible, don't buy it, I'll change your money without you having to purchase that, don't worry" and I was like "No no, I like it!". My classmates thought it was some fancy-ass type of gum and asked me for a piece and boy, was it fun to see their faces. And this is why the world keeps spinning! Imagine how boring it'd be if we all liked the same things xD

Grapefruit is one of my all time favorite things. If the taste is too strong try sprinkling a little sugar on it. I was also raised on fried okra as a side dish... Then I discovered dipping the fried okra in ranch dressing. I've also never eaten caviar on crackers but I enjoy it on california rolls and other types of sushi. Also I love pasta salad. You must have gotten one that just has oil and vinegar or something instead of a more flavorful one with nice dressing and parmesan cheese.

Re: Black Licorice - Its because of the Aniseed. Also known as Star Anise its a relatively common spice with roots in asian, and later Italian, cooking. Pepperoni uses a lot of spices to flavor it during the smoking process and its likely Anise is one of them. Anise is the main flavor in licorice and its very distinctive for its, almost numbing, semi-bitter notes. Star Anise actually has medicinal properties that are related to anesthetics.

People have different tastes. Candy corn is my favorite candy, I love the crunch of celery, but you need to cut it into thinner strips. Pasta salad, depends how it’s made. Grapefruit you cannot eat the membrane like oranges, just the pulp, because the membrane is really bitter, but the pulp is delicious. Black licorice is a strong taste, but I genuinely like it.
