@chubbyninja9759 ай бұрын
I admire Simons dedication and commend him for his results, but I think a disclaimer is necessary. You do NOT need to drink that much water a day in order to lose weight. Most individuals don’t even get the recommended amount of 2.7 liters for active women and 3.5 l for active men so upping your intake by even a little bit will probably help most people. You can die of hyponatremia due to high intakes of water. There is also such a thing as overtraining and it can have very real and negative impacts on your body physiologically, and hormonally. Most people can benefit from upping their daily activity by even 45 min-60 min once a day, 5 times a week and still see results. You do NOT need to workout like Simon to get results. He just wanted to purge bad habits in a short amount of time which can also lead to relapse since its not sustainable.

I've been on a journey very similar to this guy. I weighed 350 Jan of last year. I weighed in this morning at 256. I'm right there with him, but I didn't do anything NEARLY this insane. He is close to twice my size, but our goals are obviously different. The only thing I focused on initially was fixing my relationship with food. Getting used to the feeling of being a little hungry, staying busy, and paying close attention to what a serving ACTUALLY looks like when it's time to eat. I would never say that I've been on a 'diet', but more that I'm budgeting my calories better and trying to get between at least 120g-160g of protein daily. If I want it I'll eat cake/cookies/pizza/fast food etc, but that comes out of my daily total. So no cravings ever cropped up, no diet fatigue yet. If I mess up one day? That's no real issue, just don't fuck up the next day. I try to walk around 30 min to an hour a day (incline 1-3, speed 3 I've been binging one piece while on a treadmill and I'm only allowing myself to watch while I'm moving). I still have a bit (lot) of anxiety so I go to the gym sporadically, but I have adjustable dumbbells/kettle bells/rowing machine/treadmill in my house that I use basically every day. No super strict plan, but I just do the big 5 compound movements with a few isolation exercises. You don't have to do anything this insane to lose it. My plan is to get to a normal weight (I'll be happy anywhere from 180-200lbs;), then I'll focus on muscle. I just don't wanna die by the time I'm 45, I'll worry about looking aesthetic later. lol No one asked for my opinion/life story, but I just don't like people getting the impression that weight loss has to be miserable. I haven't stopped working, living life, eating what I want etc. I go to the gym (planet fitness) like once a week, and have a relaxed pace when I work out at home daily, I take breaks/days off, and I still lost close to 100lbs in a year.
@pben48999 ай бұрын
Great work! People often talk about sustainability and losing 2 lbs a week to be safe. I feel like they always miss the fact that when you are 200lbs overweight that’s 4 years. And if you’re 200lbs overweight you might not get 4 years or what other life long issue can you develop in those 4. You can get so overweight that getting to a healthier level asap is life and death. What’s sustainable is a goal for when you get there. I feel like getting there and figuring it out has an equal chance as 4 years of slow progression dieting.

Not trying to one up just give some information about what worked for me. Male 33 went from around 340 in august 2022 to about 190 at the end of 2023. I didn't do anything super insane either I don't think. From the start I meal prepped. Used youtube channels recipes at first. I looked up info about calculating calories and got a rough estimate of what to eat to maintain and I think I ate somewhere around -300 to -500 calories from that. Record your weight daily in an app same time every day. It will and can fluctuate wildly so don't get discouraged. This helps a lot later on because with a lot of data you can really nail down your maintaince calories over time. People get really hung up on eating a weeks worth of meals all prepared at once but just incorporate stuff you like. I literally had the same breakfast for nearly a year and it was f*ing delicious, every morning I was super happy to drink it (basically a chocolate banana peanut butter smoothie) When you are heavy you can get away with a lot at first because you have more calories you can eat. I was eating like a bag of popcorn a day as a snack just because i could fit it in my macro calculator (don't recommend but it made fat me happy) Myfitness pal free edition can help a lot with tracking calories, logging food, recording weight and photos over time, etc. I highly recommend something like this to help keep you on track So I had rough diet I cobbled together of things I liked to eat and prepared it every week over a day or two. That hit a calorie deficit and tried really hard not to cheat on that diet (super hard at first but gets easier the more you learned to fight yourself mentally. You are going to be hungry.) I did zero muscle work and just focused on upping my cardio. At 340 just going for a 10-20 minute walk a couple times a week, whatever I had the energy to fit in after work or whatever was sufficient. As your lose weight you will get better endurance so I tried to get about 6k steps a day at first, over time that turned into walking for 30-40 minutes or hiking for a hour. Those two things, keeping a deficit in the diet and upping the cardio I was doing was all I needed to lose about 10 pounds month. Some other things I did early on that I think became crucial was I cut out caffeine early on. You don't need to do this but I was a 2 liter of mountain dew guy a day for a long time so i went cold turkey on the liquid calories and just never went back to caffeine. (don't need it I have more energy now then everyone I work with who drink soda all day) Stuck to water and non-caffeine zero sugar diet drinks. In addition I wanted to create a really clean healthy diet as I was learning more about nutrition so I made the decision to purge all added sugar from diet. I would still eat natural sugars but I stopped with most processed foods, added sugars (got a little stuck on honey and maple syrup for a while as sweeteners because they come from natural sources but their affects of the blood are the same as added sugar so some people consider them as such). I ate mostly whole foods that I cooked, lots of veg and fruits, lean proteins like chicken, found a new love for nuts and seeds and beans. I think this is what really made the journey worth it. My overall health has been incredible. Yes I lost the weight but how I feel every day, how i never get sick anymore, how in tune to your body you become (when i have added sugar now like a piece of gum i can literally feel the sugar rush like a cigarette high it's wild) My sense of taste has completely changed. Fruits are basically as sweet as candy. At 190 I just started to incorporate muscle training 4 day split all bro muscles no legs or abs. I try to do high intensity cardio for 20-30 minutes 2-3x times a week (jump roping for me) and keep my steps at 10-11k. This might sounds like a lot now but i ramped up to this and you definitely don't need to do this at first. Just walking as much as you can and tracking calories is literally it. For better results ramp up cardio over time, eventually, many months later try jogging or something more intense to get the heart rate up. Then try to keep a higher heart rate for longer. The healthier your diet is and the more you stay away from prepacked foods, eating out, and added sugars the overall better you feel, sleep, poop, be the f*ing energizer bunny. One final thing. If I were to start out from the beginning at 340 with the knowledge I have now the only thing I would do different is prioritize protein in my diet and maybe do some light muscle resistance early on to try to insure that the weight I was losing was mostly fat and not muscle. Currently I'm cutting again and i'm eating about 1g of protein per lb of body weight though I'm not sure how to scale that up to bigger sizes. Does a 340 pound person need to eat 340g of daily protein? I'm sure there are vids online that can help you figure that out and this is something that is debated among nutritionists anyway. I would say most everyone who is not tracking their protein is certainly not eating enough. But you can always build the muscle later after you lose the weight. First get protein in line then fill in carbs and fats with rest of the calories to your pleasing. I'm of the opinion that you can get 100g of fats or 200g of fats and get similar results if your overall calories are a deficit. Same with salt. I tried super low amounts of sodium at one point and it was not good. I felt terrible, started getting light head and dizzy when I stood up. Went completely in the other direction and now get about 5000-6000mg a day which the app considers massively excessive but I feel great and my blood pressure is super healthy. Best of luck.
@clamum96489 ай бұрын

Because everyone is only interested in how fast they can lose weight... they aren't thinking about the long term. It was only when I stopped thinking about how fast I could lose it and started thinking about how I could maintain it that I was able to lose over 120 lbs... (and still losing). @soflo5495 ай бұрын
@@elsh332 tracking calories for a week or 2 to understand what a normal good day of eating should look like, also getting accustomed to which foods you can have with which in a day to satisfy cravings while not going overboard is beneficial. But the constant stress over every little calorie is no bueno. Even when you track calories it’s still an estimate, so worrying about it is useless. Eat intuitively and listen to your body and mind most importantly, but set aside small goals for your health such as no processed sugar 4/7 days of the week or 2/7 low carb days of the week. Balance is key. Burn a few hundred calories a day through exercise and I guarantee you will not gain any weight unless you have a binge eating disorder.

I went through a similar journey, 1 year rehabilitation learning to walk again, which was a few steps, long rest, repeat for 8-12h a day with adjusted exercises. Once I learned to walk again and savings were good enough, I took another year off and pushed myself in my workouts. morning/evening workouts, lots of steady state cardio, learning a new language and getting an education for a different sector. Of this routine only lifting 1h in the morning remained. Once I rejoined the work-force I dropped my cardio down to commuting by foot or bike, 10k steps a day on average. Dropped 2 of my meals to compensate, which I didn't miss since I had the routine of work and planned breaks. The routine changed but what needed to stick, stuck. It's discipline even when the plan changes. It was the best choice of my life, coming from bedbound my muscles were athropied so I looked anorexic once I dropped the excess weight, gained 20kg to look normal and still be a size S-M whilst being 5'10. This dude is the personification of the "cut's gonna be legendary bruh". But, seriously it's amazing man, keep pushing mate, you're doing great. I used to drink 11 liters of water per day when I got from 232lbs down to 148lbs (105kg to 67kg) (heaviest I've ever been to lightest I've ever been in my adult life) in 8 months. What worked for me: -Intermitted fasting (skipping breakfast, then having 3-4 larger meals) between 1-9 pm eating period / 16 to 8 hours -Lots of water (11 liters) - the trick is to use a lot of salt in all your meals - eat gherkins etc. -Chewing gums (sugar free - calories are nullified by the chewing action) all day long whenever I'm not having a meal -Mouth wash and brushing your teeth whenever you feel hungry with a bad taste in your mouth -Walking outside once or twice a day in low pace while listening to a podcast or a comedy special or an audiobook for an hour -I do weightlifting religiously now, but I did not do it back than when I dropped all that weight. Honestly, it felt like it was almost effortless. Trust me, it's so much easier than you think. You really get used to the morning hunger, then for the rest of the day you will not feel hungry. The only "difficult" part is quite a few visits to the restroom. At least once an hour. Oh btw, I was working in an office environment 9-5 , 6 days a week with 1h of commute and socializing after work, dancing classes and living with my partner (additional responsibilities towards my partner etc.) It really felt effortless, it wasn't even planned really, I did not set any goals, no calorie restrictions, just meal prep for the whole week. It's very easy, give it a shot and see how you go. Hope this helps. Cheers.

11 liters of water is absolutely braindead, no matter how much salt or magnesium u take you will always have a disbalance of electrolytes unless you are somehow perfectly getting the amount of electrolytes per day, which mind you not is not only salt and magnesium. Especially taking even a single multivitamin, as theyve been proven years ago to be unhelpful and possibly more harmful than useful. Mouth wash and brushing your teeth whenever feeling hungry is another sure way of ruining your teeth for no reason. What would actually work is dropping all the bullshit and building discipline and habits not doing gimmics

My man is killin it’. While you definitely don’t have to do an absolutely insane lifestyle change like this to get results I understand that so many people do so much better when they are very rigid with themselves. My biggest piece of advice from somebody who lost 60 pounds doing Keto and intense restrictive diets (not really my thing anymore) is that when it’s time to go back to a more maintenance style of eating and working out is to MAKE SURE to have some sort of support system to keep you accountable. Whether that’s going to therapy or plugging yourself in with some friends who are going through the same situation as you, having other people around to keep you accountable and motivated is so important. 😮Eating and working out how intensely he is just isn’t sustainable for most people for the rest of their lives and the transition period can be so difficult. You almost feel like you’re cheating when you actually eat something that you truly enjoy and it’s so easy to fall off the wagon and crush 2 combo meals from Micky D’s again lol Much love though and his motivation and results are amazing!

I dropped from 200 to 163 in 10 months without counting calories or macros. I just exercised regularly and ate foods that I knew to be healthy (eggs, tuna, oats, chicken, rice, broccoli, fruit etc) while giving myself treats on weekends (burgers, chips, cookies, beer etc). It was incredibly mentally freeing. Felt like a completely different person by the end of it

As a medical doctor, this video raises numerous concerns: 1. You eat so much that your gut cannot handle all of that food. This may be a large aspect of what is causing your Crohn’s disease - a damaged gut will likely promote autoimmune disease. 2. You exercise so much that you place a tremendous amount of stress on your body. 3. The combination of the two does not seem in the lease bit safe. You’re losing weight, but I believe you’re damaging your body in numerous ways that you do not realize. 4. This lifestyle does not teach any sense of self-control. I doubt you will be able to remain at the weight you want to be once you’ve lost all your weight, because then you have to maintain - and do you want the rest of your life back? Your full time job is fitness. This is not healthy. 5. No greens except dry scoop? Really? You’re not teaching yourself how to eat properly. There is absolutely no self control here. 6. 12 L of water also seems concerning. Your kidneys are probably not happy with you. I doubt you’re damaging them, but the loss of magnesium is concerning given all its important functions. You’re probably still deficient, even if your lab work says your levels are normal. Most Americans’ total body stores of magnesium are low. I cannot support this. This video is massively concerning.

I completely get you when you're talking about fast food and late night orders. I had those same issues in the past... I'd order a ridiculous amount of food and stuff myself while watching tv or some other bs. Luckily my max weight ever was only about 240lb, which is a lot for me considering the fact that I've trained all my life. Those 'being lazy and fat' times happened every now and then which is why I usually got from about 180lb to 220-240. 240 (110kg to be more precise) was the line I never wanted to cross, so that was an alarm for me to do something. And like you I went all in, no gradual changes, I planned stuff in my head briefly and the very next day I'm in the store, buying food that I've planned out for my diet. Get home and breakfast is already a part of the plan.. few months and I'm back at 180, 190... now I just gotta figure it out how not to spiral back to the bs habits lol. It sucks being unhappy with your body man. The self esteem goes poof, which leads to being introverted more and more, laziness without saying just happens right away... I mean, I'm a stupid f**k kinda, I have this weird habit, when I drop out of my training regime for example, I instantly start eating trash. It's like, my mind is convincing me to be lazy about everything at that moment... pick a comfort zone and just chill. So everything that a person should thrive for, goes away, and you're just lying on a damn couch, eating your favorite snack every day, all day, feeling sorry for yourself at the end of the day or in my case right after I ate 5k calories in a single sitting of which most is just garbage most people consider snacks or deserts lol. So yeah, I've been there, done that, and hopefully I never do it again... :)

I was in the 8th grade the first time I twisted my left knee and then 15 or more times during double days football practice before my freshman year I finally told the coaches one more time and I'm done got my GED at 15. My right knee has been a one and done complete dislocation it did the Zorro sign being young and dumb in my mid twenties at home not work but I was at work two day's later doing asphalt repair cement ditch sandblasting and crack filing stupid right just two day's if you don't have bills to pay or family to feed working10 hour days without any pain meds not even now and I have people telling me how you didn't have this or that company pay to get things fixed when the injuries were not work related. To top it all off you try and get help from social security and or disability benefits and get lied to and denied don't tell them you want to get medical procedures done so you'll be able to go back into the workforce again and provide for yourself because if there's anything that can be done to fix it whether or not you can afford it your not disabled.
