I think one's mindset has a lot to do with it. I can see how someone who had to undergo a fairly invasive surgery and just wants to feel like themselves again could be psychologically impacted by the recovery and find that ordeal demoralizing. As someone who chose to fast with liquid for 6 weeks, I felt differently about it.
@1011000111 ай бұрын
@@oedalis it's that and... as you say it's a choice. Yes, I choose to have the surgery, but not having it would cause even more problems. Plus, you need to keep your calories up to keep weightloss to a minimum. And if you would like to hit your macro's (and not reduce your food to carbs/sugar) the volume of food it very high. So I was basically force feeding myself by day 10 because I was so full all day. Plus, after the 6 weeks you can't just return to your normal diet, you have to rebuild again. At the end, it was worth it as I had one of the speediest recoveries my surgeon had ever seen and I didn't lose more then 4 kilo's (mostly muscle).

I know you do these fun challenges for fun and sprinkle knowledge in there but I just wanted you to know you may have changed my life and i am so glad. Studies have shown having soup before a meal helps you feel fuller sooner and eat about 20% less calories than you might typically consume without having had it. Soup (regardless of whether it's brothy, chunky, pureed) can make you feel just as full and satisfied as a meal you chew. I'd be curious to see to test the theory by having only soup and seeing if you still feel energized and if the consistency of the soup changes your fullness.

Ingredients: Frozen banana, a tbsp of Spirulina, 2 heaping tbsp of peanut butter, 1/4 cup Coconut flakes, 1/4 cup Soaked Cashews, a few soaked Dates or tbsp Honey for sweetener, a few tbsp of sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, ground flax seeds. Before I get any responses I want it to be noted that I wish for you to think before you speak. I am not trying to offend anyone or start any wars this is simply my opinion. I want to create an open dialogue about the comment he made about Ensures (specifically the ones that have extra calories) and how you have to be "traumatic" to drink something like that. Not only that but his comments following it also come across as pitying to me. And I feel like this is a common thing I see when people discuss stuff like this. Nevermind the fact that people with medical conditions (again we're not traumatic for it, nor does it have to be traumatic), ED's but recovering, the elderly, etc drink them. I'm someone who fell off and stayed off the growth chart when I was a kid for a number of reasons. Yet it's not talked about how Ensures are not just used as a weight loss tool or for the elderly. Something I've consistently seen with Ensures (and other drinks like them) are that people in poverty tend to buy them as well. Because those are often times more accessible than buying a ton of food to "catch up" on weight loss due to lack of access to food. (Again speaking from personal experience.) I think this is something that really needs to be more talked about regarding the discussion of Ensures, drinks like them, and general replacement meals, which again can sometimes be more accessible than actual food is to those in poverty (and no I'm not talking about the super expensive ones, and again I drank these back in the early to mid 2000s which is what I am going this off of.) Again this isn't to ruffle anyone's feathers I just think it's an important thing to discuss that's not talked about enough. If my thoughts seem all over the place I apologize I'm over caffeinated at the moment, and if I remember I'll come back and edit this to make more sense when I'm not. Thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to the following discussion.

The absolute rule against no liquid calories ever is kinda silly if your diet incorporate the occasional pure treat. Like, how is having a can of soda after your workout any different than a small bag of gummy bears?

I would say having soda could be better in the sense that it will hydrate you but the downside would be that it has a lot of acid in it

I don't think it needs to be an absolute rule and occasionally I'll fit in a smoothie in my diet because I love 'em but a bag of gummy bears is gonna keep me fuller longer. And a sweet with more fiber would do me even better.

@@lorcha1237 you can drink a glass of water instead + the amount of acidity your food contains has zero impact on your body

You should try a Ramadan day fasting, just fast from sunrise to sunset, no water or food, go to the gym and document how the day goes by. It’s important to eat well just before sunrise so that you have enough energy throughout the day.

$20 for any drink that doesn't have alcohol from an LA nightclub, music festival or Disney park should be a crime.

As someone who grew up very scrawny and sturggled with digestion and IBS, eating enough was always a struggle. Theres much better ways to do a liquid diet than just drink as many different things as possible. You can make healthy shakes, protein shakes, milk,
