It’s really hard for me to think about Japan. I used to live at Roppongi Minato-ku, 2 chomé 1-1 (diplomat housing compound). I was sent away and dragged into the troubled teen industry (not my parents fault, they’re victims just as much as I am), and my family moved while I was away. I was promised I’d be back after 3 months (wilderness program called TRAILS NC), but was then away for another 15 months at therapeutic- I use that word lightly, boarding school called New Leaf Academy in Bend OR. I’m now in Portland OR (as you can see, huuuuuge change). I haven’t been home since July of 2018 (7years?). Watching movies like Bullet Train is hard, hell, all my favorite youtubers are going to Japan now, but Schlatt specifically is oddly comforting. I love Schlatt, so I decided to watch even though I was 100% sure I’d end up feeling like I should blindly walk into oncoming traffic, but when watching him, that feeling never comes. Instead it’s some form of happy nostalgia in a way. Long story short, I’m glad I decided to watch because surprisingly this is helping with this overbearing homesickness I can never get rid of. Maybe it’s because Schlatt is someone I look up to, or maybe it’s the way he edits and films his videos, or maybe it’s the fact that he’s not in the Roppongi area like Pewds. I just thought I’d write this because I’ve been dreaming of home for 7 years and feeling sad, and now I can watch something filmed in Japan and actually laugh. Thanks, Schlattacus

I've known multiple people, and dated someone that went to wilderness camps, but my high school theater director (who's clearly lacking a brain) decided it would be a good idea to do the play "Wilderness" which surrounds teens at wilderness camps at different times. Definitely not as bad as being in a wilderness camp, but also definitely traumatizing to rehearse and perform these abusive scenes over and over, trying to make them look as real as possible. To put the awfulness in context, the only scene that was removed was one where one of the characters was self-harming on stage. And multiple of the people there had friends or family members that had been sent to a wilderness camp, and had first-hand experiences with the kidnapping, of which there were multiple scenes that we performed before and during. But basically I've had a lot of second-hand experience with wilderness camps, and wanted to share that even while I never went to one, I genuinely understand to a greater extent then most people, and that you are doing so incredibly much better. @@S4lym0n In theory it's supposed to be a place to allow teens to recover in nature away from the stressors of "real life" for a variety of things, such as drug addiction and mental illness. In reality people are treated incredibly poorly, and the entire process is incredibly traumatising, from the effective kidnapping of the kids, to the lack of communication with the parents, the terrible treatment these people get while in these camps, and it doesn't really help people sort through the things that are bothering them. I know a couple people who are advocating against wilderness camps and raising awareness about how awful they are, but it's still not talked about enough, and people continue to end up in these terrible places.
