It was early morning when they finally gave up and decided to leave towards the city, to fill out a missing persons report. I spent a two days in Yamanouchi (where the monkey onsen is) when I went to Japan and it was absolutely wonderful. My brother and I went in May 2013. I remember we walked into a restaurant around 6pm one night and the owner was sleeping on a cot in the kitchen. I don't think he expected any customers as we accidentally woke him up trying to see if the restaurant was open. He was so excited that we were there and we had a really memorable dinner talking to each other in our respective broken Japanese and English. The people in that town are so kind, I highly recommend traveling there as it is such a change in pace from Tokyo or Kyoto. Anyways, thanks for coming to my TED talk. Great video!

I realized that I'm late to the party, but still wanted to let you know that it's truly refreshing to see some HONEST feedback about Japanese culture and experiences. The world did not need yet another westerner posing as a Japanese idol, shooting sunshine and rainbows out of their ass, and presenting another bland, homogenized "opinion." Thank you for having a thick skin and just generally not giving a fuck about the haters. It's nice to see someone doing this but remaining respectful. Most times I've seen hosts overcompensate with their callousness and be brazenly rude jackasses. I'm never surprised when I hear/read a Japanese native over generalize westerns' manners, or lack thereof, after being exposed to asshats like this.

There's a spectrum of people with respecting Japan. On one end you have people like Logan Paul who just did not care at all. On the other you have people who are over-respectful, to the point where they act like Japan is a perfect country.
