I would LOVE to see vegan crab meat!! Like dipped in vegan butter- not as a crab cake. This looked SO tasty so I feel like you could do crab even more easily! I was such a seafood fanatic before I become vegan (I grew up in the Seattle area so you can imagine), and even though I've been vegan for 3 years this year, seafood is the one thing I still REALLY miss. Honestly any and all veganized seafood videos are GREATLY appreciated and help my partner and I so much.

She should've used 1/3 cup carrot juice 2 tbsp beet juice and 2 tbsp of soy sauce. To perfect the color, salmon is more orangish brownish pink. Than just regular pink and beets are just a bit too fuscia colored. Carrot juice would've been better and she shouldn't blended those nori sheets into the beet and carrot juice soy sauce mixture and let it marinate. The flavor and color would be better, also a little black salt sounds crazy, it's optional but I think would also help. 😊 She should try it

@@suzannes5888 I have to say I'm not vegan but I'm not that much of a meat lover either the only Animal product I consume would be Eggs and Ham but only for sandwiches and pepperoni on pizza other than that I don't really like eating meat that much I would try going vegan but it's hard when you have favorite dishes like pot pie and pizza and lasagna especially mozzarella cheese I love mozzarella should I feel guilty for loving those type of foods?

I'm wondering if perforating the salmon and making the actual beetroot marinade with pureed nori then letting it soak overnight or so wouldn't give it a better texture/colour/flavour since just marinating it it's always just going to be a white block with pink outside. Plus if you perforate it in lines you could mimic the flaky factor

Looks great for a fun dinner. Perhaps adjusting the colour bit more would also help, maybe add a bit of vegan cream and a pinch of yellow in there to get closer to the salmon colour? Also maybe freezing the tofu to get flakes? Those BOSH guys are so creative aren't they. Must try putting capers in there. Great video.

I wonder if you blend the beet juice with nori and use that to marinate the tofu, will the tofu absorb the umami from the nori. Also, if you cut the tofu into 2 pieces instead of 4 and process it the way you make chicken from tofu, will it make flakier "meat"? I really want to try this but it's super hard to find super firm tofu. Only regular tofu sold in my area. So I need to press it really long to get the same texture

Basically the rule for F to C is that Fahrenheit is double the amount of Celsius. So If a recipe says to bake at 150C then it’s 300F and vice versa. It’s not 100% accurate but it’s only a matter of a couple of degrees and with ovens, the temperature is so high anyways that it doesn’t really matter.

I don't think anything can truly imitate fish. Chicken etc. is easyer as most of its taste comes from seasoning and the method of preparation. But fish has a very unique taste and texture. It kind of melts in the mouth and only needs salt. But maybe one dsy someone can prove me wrong 😁

not vegan, but I've made "fish" with tofu before. I would cut it into small pieces like this, boil it in (leftover chicken broth at the time) some sort of flavored liquid, then pat it dry and squeeze as much as I could get out + batter it. kinda like a fish and chips dish
