Something I just noticed, unlike most towns in the UK there wasn’t any shops run down and vacant. Maybe they could give us some pointers when it comes to community shopping.

Probably because most of the shops over there are independent small family run businesses. Most of the UK high street are big corporations that only care about profits.

@@RJA UK high streets play second fiddle to shopping centres and retail parks now. Also, UK councils (usually Labour controlled) charge rates so high that independent people cannot afford to open stores, so we get more & more chains and they in turn become dull. So town centre shopping is a thing of the past now, or will be!

Try Zula at Zorlu shopping centre... the best burgers in Istanbul. Also Bartos in Çengelköy is great. I also recommend Sehzade Cag Kebab in Sirkeci.

HI Danny Yes those Burgers looked great at least when you picked those up they did not fall apart and make a mess. Well you said the buns were not up to your taste you must remember that bread and rolls are usually a lot different from the UK so you try and not to compare what you get in the UK. Try and forget you are english when about and enjoy the countries and places that you go to.

East london markets stalls are doing fine and look at southall ,all cash shops with minimal regulations from councils
