@talphazero10363 жыл бұрын
@Swag Monke Why are you even on a video of someone speedrunning a game called "Dumb Ways To Die", since that doesn't seem like something you would find funny😐 People dying isn't usually considered a joke, but here we are laughing at fictional beings being in situations where they can die from electrocution, being run over by trains and cars, overdosing on substances, being burnt alive and so on. Pretty dark with the implications, but no one here gives a flying fuck. We find it funny😃
@talphazero10363 жыл бұрын
@Swag Monke You told me that self deprecation wasn't funny, and I told you that was subjective and I don't care. You then said because humour is subjective doesn't make everything funny. I then answered by basically saying your hypocritical because this whole video is about fictional characters dying in supposedly stupid ways that would be horrendous in real life. It doesn't relate to self deprecation, it relates to what you said afterwards:Everything shouldn't be funny(though you seem to find people dying funny cause that's the whole point of this video). Do I have everything correct so far, or did I miss something🧐?

Canberra is the same. Americans are constantly screwing it up in their news reports like they do Melbourne. One time a character in an American sitcom had to say Canberra and somehow came up with "Cahnbuhrreh". We only recognised it because they said the city was in Australia. It was so bad my brother and I had to pause the show and rewind it just to check. And then to laugh our heads off. Can't even imagine what Americans would come up with for even mildly challenging place names like Tuggeranong or Woolloomooloo. Or, dare I say it, an Indigenous Australian place name that is more difficult. Like Wangkatjungka.

Fun fact about this game: It's part of an advertising campaign for train safety in specifically Victoria, Australia. Melbourne (You slightly mispronounced it, it's more burn than born) is the Capital of Victoria, and Victoria's trainline, called V-Line, had this advertising campaign back in the early 2010's. I can't say how successful it was, I always took train safety seriously, even as a kid, but the song was certainly catchy! Loved the little guys standing around Flinders Street Station.
@gamenerd6073 жыл бұрын
1: it's not "melborn" or "melburn" it's "melbin" 2: V-Line wasn't the ones to create the song or game it was created by metro. 3: V-Line isn't our main trainline it's metro. (V-Line is one of the trainline companies here in victoria but it isn't the main one)
@FrostGlader3 жыл бұрын
@@gamenerd607 I have heard the term Melbournians, its burn, and even then it's probably more bern and ben than anything lol. V-Line covers a good chunk of Victoria, mostly locations along the Princes Freeway, with a few branches via Buslines along the way, and even then the Myki cards (our easily exploited transportation system that works for literally everything, for people outside of the state) are marked with Public Transport Victoria, we can probably toss the blame for the ads to them due to the extreme coverage the ads got around the state... not counting KZbin and App Stores where the rest of the world saw it. Either way, it's an ad originating in Victoria, Australia, specifically FOR Victorians, and was created to advertise safety around Public Transport in general, with slight emphasis on Trains, and it became fairly popular around the world during the time it was created. Let's leave it at that.
@gamenerd6073 жыл бұрын
@@FrostGlader i'm literally FROM Melbourne EVERYONE HERE pronounces it as "melbin" the only people i hear say "melbern" are Americans and just because V-Line covers a good chuck of Victoria doesn't make it the main trainline, metro is the main trainline because it covers the more common areas and WAY MORE people catch metro then V-Line making metro THE MAIN trainline, and you can't just "toss the blame to V-Line" because they cover more places then metro because at the end of the song it literally says "be safe around trains. a message from METRO" and in school we had a time (around the time when dumb ways to die came out) where a METRO worker came in to the school and talked about train safety and showed us the DWTD

Based from his comments all throughout the video, I wasn't even surprised. I don't want to call him an idiot, so gonna say he's kind of a dumbass

It’s depressing that there are people out there who actually don’t know what this game is or the song about it

I loved this game when I was playing it, but it is SOOO Hard to master some of the levels! In my opinion, the hardest one is when you need to hop on hippos.

The story behind the garbage bag being chased by a car is actually a guy trying to escape a drug dealer. The lyrics for the song say “scratch a drug dealers brand new ride” sooooo yeahhhhh :)
