I'm a sucker for trying interesting diets! With that said, I decided to try the carnivore diet for an entire week. The diet has made some big headlines lately. Even talked about in great detail on Joe Rogan's podcast with Shawn Baker and Jordan Peterson.
For those of you who don't know what the diet is, it's an extremely restrictive diet that focuses on ONLY eating animal products mainly coming from red meat.
The diet supposedly has many health benefits such as weight loss, reduce inflammation, fewer digestive problems, increased mental clarity and more.
Out of all diets I've tried, this one was definitely the hardest!
Hope you enjoy the video :)

I done carnivore for about 200 days. The 2nd day was the worst. I avoided all people as i was extremely irritable. Day 3 and 4 i had fun on the toilet. Then it was meh for about 3 days. About two weeks in, i felt amazing. About a month in and my bp was at normal level, usually elevated. You find many ways to snack and many foods you can eat and enjoy. Im just over 186cm tall. I was 87kg at the time and after 2 months was down to 79kg. Lean and very strong. My gut has never felt so good. I would go bathroom once a day, effortlessly, no gas. I dont do caffeine but fuck was it hard having no carbs. I didnt get headaches at all. I had a shit ton of salt. I had a shit ton of heavy cream. The worst i ever felt was the month after ending carnivore. I vowed never to eat bread or pasta again. Now i do essentially what saladino does. Never felt better. Meat and fruit.

Traditional diets tend to boil their meats instead of frying or grilling... I'm curious if that might help with the stomach issues. I knew a Lakota elder and she told me that growing up they boiled everything. She told me that once her kids started taking care of her and cooking all her food they were frying and grilling and that it didn't feel good in her stomach. I imagine that when changing a diet so drastically it may take time to adjust the stomach flora to handle the dense food. Our stomachs aren't just blenders that grind up the food. It's a chemical process between the food and our stomach enzymes and bacteria. This takes time.

In short, yes, causing your body to completely change its fuel source is going to be rough, I've been in and out of a keto/carnivore lifestyle since 2018 quite a few times and even though I've done it a few times I still have issues if I try to change it too fast, or if I don't get enough salt in when transitioning off of carbs.

With a zero carb diet like this you're gonna be excreting a ton of sodium. Might have been why you felt awful around 9:30 - you gotta add a surprising amount of salt to get your sodium levels back up. Carnivore adaptation period is definitely rough though - you'll want to get a 32 inch monitor as well as a wall mount and hook that up to a PS4 in your bathroom right in front of your toilet

This was the only diet video I've seen Will do where I was actually hungry watching. I can understand going full carnivore may be difficult, but I can certainly get on board with having more carnivore and fewer carbs. What I definitely could not do is cut out coffee. All the symptoms of headache and lethargy are what I experience if I go without coffee for a day. I recently cut down on carbs and substituted more protein from meat and eggs, and I have noticed a huge reduction in gas and bathroom issues. But I am not 100% carnivore though, which I imagine would be a huge shock to the system.

To be fair, Will addressed how the adjustment period was probably the worst part and I agree. He probably would've been in a much better place after another week. We do go through carb withdrawals but that doesn't mean carbs are bad for us. We're optimized to use them. I believe some people find success in carnivore while others absolutely hate it so I don't pass judgment either way. I lasted 20 days and when I say I felt like I was literally gonna die, I mean it. I ended up with palpitations and irregular heartbeat. I googled it and it said that there was a real chance my heart could stop so I broke the fast. Kind of reminded me of alcohol withdrawal. I've never been through that but people die from alcohol withdrawal if it's bad enough. I got through it but now I'm traumatized. I want nothing to do with "yummy" things...

You got to get through the first week or two at least to get yourself completely adjusted. I have been on carnivore for the most part for a little less than 5 months. I have lost around 77lbs. Just recently started going to the gym. Lost most of that weight just with the diet. It is like keto but hard core. I love the results I am getting. You don’t need to eat if you’re not hungry in carnivore. You only eat when you are hungry and eat until you are comfortably stuffed. Pork rinds are a good snack to chill with.

It helps you lose fat and gain muscle so if you are already jacked you don’t necessarily have to change what you are doing- it has helped me to get down from 311 lbs to 234lbs in less than 5 months. You can transform your health and revolutionize your way of living with this diet. It is worth pushing through the keto flu and the carnivore poops to have the overwhelmingly better results later. I challenge someone reading this to try it for 30-90 days. You will more than likely drop 30 lbs in 30 days easily if you do exactly what Dr. Berry says on his channel.

Sounds about like what I did, I've never been dogmatic about it, it was just a means to an end. It got me from a 6.7 A1C to 4.3 so I'm not worrying about diabetes medication anymore, I lost 70lbs as well, but put most of it back on when I went off of carnivore. I'm getting it back off by switching to keto, but the bulk of my calories are still carnivore. It's not reasonable to ask Will to give it the required amount of time to adjust to carnivore, but if he'd done it immediately after his week of keto he'd probably have had a better time with it.

Going carnivore after that, and you'll find your a1c back to normal levels by the time your next blood work is done.

Today I passed the 7 day mark on the Carnivore diet. What drove me to it was I had reached a resting blood pressure of 191/110. Early this morning - right when I actually passed the seven day mark, my blood pressure came in at 122/80. The bulk of the excess blood pressure came off in the first 3 days. In fact in the very first day, my blood pressure dropped from 191/110 to 160/100. The very first day. But if you look up blood pressure and the carnivore diet, all the medical professionals are saying “If you have high blood pressure, do not do the carnivore diet.” Modern medicine has life threateningly (to patient lives) bad biases.

I actually don't see why you can't add coffee or some types of vegetables and herbs into your carnivore diet though. Adding some pepper and zucchini would make a huge difference taste wise and is still considered keto. Even carnivores do not exclusively eat meat in nature. Will should also add some innards to his diet and not exclusively eat the muscle fibre meat, the innards have higher micro nutritional value and are essential to this type of diet.

When i felt better all i wanted was meat. So ive basically existed off of deer roast so far. I do season it with salt,.pepper and sometimes garlic. So far what ive noticed is mostly good. I no longer have to take stomach meds, bathroom issues are better, no bloating. The only downside was being extremely tired. That is starting to get better now though. I dont plan on keeping this diet. O need to gain, not lose weight. I love how this seems to have helped reset my gut though. Im going to start adding some veggies in and then go from there. Figure out what my stomach likes and what it doesnt.

I use freeze dried beef liver, heart, kidney caps for the extra nutrition. I make my own lemon water with salt potassium and a little bit of monk fruit powder about three quarts a day. Only cook with butter, lard, or coconut oil. High fat moderate protein very low sugar does work for me. Interesting, but you'll need to do a lot more than 1 week to see the benefits. Couple of points: There is a transition phase where your body adapts to using ketones for energy. This phase also involves oxalate dumping which is kinda like a friit and veg detox, and your gut microbiome needs to adjust to the higher fat intake, which will cause issues in the short term. You don't need to supplement with creatine since meat has loads of it, and neither do you need extra vitamin c. You get enough from the meat. You may need a mineral supplement, but if you have some liver from time to time you probably won't need it. Anyway, maybe try it again one day. I'm on month 14 and have never felt or looked better.

Yes, a lot of people do carnivore to reverse autoimmune conditions. I did it for a few years and reversed a few autoimmune conditions and literally got my life back because I was very very sick and overweight a few years ago. Eventually lost almost 70 pounds, went down 4 sizes, lost about 10% body fat (possibly more) and now I eat a much wider variety of food. I am still working on my health and have bigger fitness goals. Became a trainer/health coach in the process of it all because of the dramatic change in my health and fitness. It was all so worth it but I wouldn't want to do it for the rest of my life. I went back to keto and now I'm starting to add back in more food slowly, but will probably stay fairly low carb most days with carbs centered around my workouts and higher carb days here and there. I am not into being dogmatic or make any WOE a religion. Thank God I love meat!!

I wen't to try this diet for 2 weeks and 2 months later I'm still going. This video covers the worst part of the diet which is week one, from there things went amazing for me. Dropped so much weight without exercising, and managed to hold onto my muscle...the results were so incredible I don't want to stop

@@socaranectien1933 People have their reasons when trying an elimination diet. Some do great with plants, some do well eating specific plants and others when eating no plants at all. It's nice to know there is something you can do when dropping water from the elimination.

@@xiakala7836 elimination diets are done under medical supervision for limited time in pursuit of an actual lifetime diet plan. the carnivore diet is a fad diet. it may have a lot of health benefits but it’s not an elimination diet

I believe people are as diverse in their systems as animals are. Some of us can't handle just meat and eggs. Some of us get sick on plant-based diets (like me). Been eating carnivore for 4 months now and I honestly had NO weird side effects (probably because I never lived on starches or processed junk food). I guess this is just my predisposed diet on an innate level, so why stop at all? I feel better than I did when I was in my 20's :-)

Higher salt, and perhaps some electrolytes if switching straight over to the carnivore diet. It's better to transition over gradually if you want to avoid, carb cravings, energy crashes, mood issues or bowel problems. It can take a while to fully adapt, but once you have, you will feel better than ever.

Do you eat things with palm oil in it? It’s pretty unethical how they deforest the rainforest and displace the wildlife. People have been eating animals for years. Their relationship seems fine still shes vegan while he eats meat on the regular already and still are going strong. 🤦🏾‍♀️

@@tamaramcrae1347 While you statement about palm oil is true, you are taking away from eating animals, look into how much deforestation happens due to animal farming.. if you really cared about the environment you would be doing more then just staying away from palm oil, you would be limiting your animal product consumption.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and accredit your headaches/mood swings/etc. to the lack of coffee. I'm guessing those symptoms would be much less severe if you weren't addicted to coffee prior to going into this diet.

The first few days of carnivore sucked. But after that I feel better than I ever have before. More energy better clarity and the fat is just melting away. The hard part is I want to eat because it’s habit but I’m just not interested in food. I eat 2 meals a day consisting of mostly red meat and I feel perfectly satisfied.
