Nice job breaking the record - I can only dream of going sub 24 min :) I used to volunteer at my local Park Run (I cycled there) but soon realised that aside from promoting the health benefits for those that may not run, far too many runners were driving to and from the event, which for me defeats the purpose of your message here - driving X miles to run 3 miles seems a bit pointless - for those that have no issues with motivation, just start at home and run 5k, no need to do it at a Park Run where driving there offsets any potential benefits, not to mention the irony of asking for cleaner air!

Now you've moved to Manchester I guess it's not on the cards. 17-29 is the current course record for ladies held by Annabel Gunmow, just saying, 74ft of elevation according to my Garmin too.

As an asthmatic who drives (a hypocrite etc.) but if you want clean air driving to run isn't a great start. Local air quality issues outside of industrial areas are significantly correlated to emissions from cars (tailpipe, braking, tyres etc.). Signing things is easy, but we have to take individual as well as collective actions

I’ve put just over 10,000 mi (16,000 km) on my car since Aug 2019 (3+ years). That’s less than the yearly average I think. I love to car pool if possible, but also just don’t need to drive much with a remote job. Got the car back in my last year of college and could get basically everywhere on foot except the drive back to my hometown.
@billyb36892 жыл бұрын
@@TheAmazingHuman-Man Yeah I work in transport myself, we are in some ways victims of our circumstances and the transport conditions around us. But we (including myself) can also be guilty of traveling just for variety, for example if people can cycle to either local park runs rather than drive for variety it's not a huge sacrifice. That said, we all can act inconsistently and having different circumstances, so solutions are complex

Most of the pollution in the world is created from companies who completely disregard the climate crisis. The petition is to fight the climate crisis on a large scale, one person not driving will not help at all until governments and companies pull it together
