Wow, Allie, that was incredible. My fav vid is you winning the Mount Marathon event. That together with this makes me believe that you are an exceptional endurance athlete and I think in time you could become an outstanding champion in that field. Go Allie O!
@stevendorsey48822 жыл бұрын
Indeed, that seemed like a very hard tri-training day. The swim didn't seem too hard, but the biking looked tough, and to follow that up with a long run at a decent clip had to be exhausting. I've always though tri athletes are the most fit of all athletes (with perhaps the exception of true decathalon athletes).

I don’t get how they train 3 different disciplines plus do all the other little stuff (strength training, stretching, recovery, etc.) not to mention regular life

I have so much respect for triathlon. Absolutely brutal!

Awesome video! No joke to do what you did here. Love the brave face even when it wasn’t comfortable. Your ability to go into the pain cave and embrace it means there are no limits to the type of endurance sport you could do if you ever decided to leave the track.

Cool to watch you do all the three events! Allie, you would obviously ace the run portion. When I did triathlons (as an amateur), I joined a master's swim program, which helped that event improve a huge amount. One caution: as one with obsessive and compulsive tendencies, I found that training was taking over my life, so I had to back off. But I wasn't a pro, so maybe it's a reasonable thing for you to try.
@allie_ostrander2 жыл бұрын
I could definitely see the training getting very obsessive! It's basically a full time job.

My girlfriend and I watched the exact same SVU episode at the exact same time as y’all were doing lactate tests. Also, the tests seem like a pain in the ass when you have to stop what you’re doing and do them yourself. Is it something you’d wanna continue?
@allie_ostrander2 жыл бұрын
once I practice testing myself a few times, I think it would get pretty easy, and the numbers get more helpful the more often you use them. I think it can be worth it as long as research and testing goes into the lactate number targets!

Perhaps your stomach issues are due to ingesting the water that is in Greenlake. I would never swim in that lake. Indoor biking for me is tough. I much prefer going outside unless the weather is crap. Anyway, you did great!

I don't think pro triathletes do all 3 sports every single training day... It's about planning training so you can hit the key workouts hard rather than throwing a constant slog at it and feelinhf exhausted.
@allie_ostrander Жыл бұрын
Yep, Ari talked about that at the end. This was a hard training day, and there will only be 1-2 of these a week along with recovery days in between.
