I've been sitting on the idea for this video for probably the last 2 years, but I seriously started laying out how I wanted to approach it and how it'd be shot once I built the PC (about a year and a half ago). But then I took a half year hiatus due to being over-stressed. After I came back from the hiatus I was super anxious about following through with the video due to the nature of the content and how I wanted to perfectly time and execute the ending, but I was finally able to push through it recently and get it done. Hope you all enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed creating it.

I don't think $250 is "scamming" or ripping off someone. The time it takes to build, install Windows and updates, stress test etc is worth the $+75. He is getting a perfectly working computer as soon as he plugs it in.
@nerdonabudget5 жыл бұрын
The scam effect I was going for is the fact that people won't realize they just bought a severely limited build when there are Ryzen 3 systems out there for almost the same price. You're right, $250 was pretty close to a decent deal, as you saw I did try to get $400 for it but people in Seattle were too smart to fall for something that blatantly bad, so I had to tread closer to the line

@johnczyz5 жыл бұрын
I agree with several of the other viewers here, this is not a scam. The price of $250 was fair for the system, especially considering that it contained a legal copy of activated Windows 10. All the components worked. There were no deception of switching out fake product for real ones. the ad accurately listed the contents of the computer. Now had the original poster switched out components for non-name brand ones, then you might say it was a scam.

3 words for people buying used parts and not wanting to get ripped off: DO YOUR RESEARCH Finding used component prices is easy, compare the total value of parts listed to what the listing is asking and then haggle down to what feels like a fair price. Insist on testing the PC before paying and make sure your run something intensive like 3dMark to make sure all the parts actually work and don't start artifacting, shut down or overheat under load. Also inspect the internals for things like the broken fan in this video, at the very least bring the price down for it. Nicely done video. Not all scams are high dollar, most are trying to shake you down for an extra $50 - $100. People do this because they sell 10 of those junk PCs at a time and hope the buyer isn't going to make a fuss over small sums of money. The other type of scammer I hope most people don't fall for, the ones that list a $5000 system from 2006 for $5000 and list what they paid for all the parts 13 years ago to justify it. Sometimes they are morons, other times they are just trying their luck. Also, never buy used Macs unless they are price comparable to a similarly specced PC used (don't forget to factor in a display if the Mac is an AIO). People say Macs hold their value but they don't, its a lie. The specs aren't miraculously more capable just because they have an apple logo slapped on them. A core 2 Duo is just as outdated and useless in a Mac as it is in a PC. By and large, many Mac users fall into the category of the morons that think they can get the bulk of what they spent on their system back when they upgrade. Stop letting them get away with it, stupidity shouldn't be rewarded.

@@zackburkhart8693 Aaaaaand when you are at 250, going to 350 is almost 50 PERCENT more than your original price... that's like saying getting a 3500 dollar PC instead of a 2500 dollar one is 'not much more'. Don't just write stupid comments on the internet for the sake of doing so, just in case you come across a competent fellow.

I actually never even considered the possibility of you ripping someone off. When I saw the title, I went "yeah Danny's gonna try to scam someone and in the end reveal everything and throw in a bonus". Never even crossed my mind you would really scam someone. Not because it was a bad performance, I just didn't register any of that as Danny behavior i guess :)
