Күн бұрын

It’s time for the biggest transformation on my saltwater paludarium to date. After 55 days, it is time to introduce the first big batch of live coral to the aquarium. It’s been quite an adventure so far and with these new creatures, things will only get more exciting. We’re adding a ton of filter feeding species, that will help keep my aquarium water crystal clear and break down nutrients. They will act as the natural filtration for my saltwater ecosystem.

It's possible to light the tank and plants separately: A spotlight-style slightly bluer light aimed just at the water feature, and either a bar-style light across the back, or a white light mounted higher up. This would allow you to add things like clams, which would be amazing to see Even then I think a whiter spectrum would look more natural. I've followed your setups for a while and they've always leaned more beautifully naturalistic than solid windex actinic, which is refreshing If you don't have blue photosynthetic plating sponge, it's a cool addition. It grows in whorling scrolls/plates, almost like plating Montipora, and has great color

Dart frogs do not go well with water and as they absorb a lot of things through their skin the salt would kill them. Let alone they would also need to be contained as there would be nothing to keep them from hopping away. Seahorses are a much better option for this setup

Love this!! Been wanting something similar. Some ideas…. Use the black wall as a living wall and extend the plants up the wall It’d be interesting if you could somehow hide the aquarium lights under more plants/hardscape. Would love to see a setup where absolutely no equipment is easily seen on a rimless setup …. Including lights.

you might want to look in what kind of cut paste for tree's you might want to get for the mangrove trees when you need to cut them back to seal the cut wound and not get obvious cut scars. and make the cuts sloping backwards so all cut scars are at the back.

Fun fact about sea squirts:they have a notochord as larvae, which is a spine-like structure seen in animals like tadpoles! This classifies them as chordata, but they are not vertebrates!

Those sand sifting starfish require far more food in the sand than will be present in this system. Fish waste is important and with a system like this which requires low stocking, those starfish will starve over time. The gorgonians will also slowly starve to death. They require constant feeding, at least two targeted feedings a day. We are now far better equipped to keep NPC's but they require a dedicated system with targeted nutrition. I love this tank, i really do and it is a thing of beauty but 40 years experience in this hobby tells me the animals I have mentioned will not survive long term.
