@@njmxjunkie3128 the engine can be whatever you want, not sure how you can come to a conclusion its good for a grom.... the suspension is trash with 8hp, 40 would suck. Whats it cost? Spending more than double (for a new grom) to make it rideable is ridiculous. Groms are expensive enough as it is for mods and parts. Big bore kit is a better route imo, once someone passes 20hp with a swap makes one think you shoulda just bought a bigger bike that will do more and not cost nearly as much.🤷♂️

Badass build!! Couple things: they make a laser chain alignment tool with a cat 5 laser, I have one and it helped immensely with the build I did putting an R1 engine into a Yamaha Raptor 700 frame; 2: even if you close your eyes, welding will still burn your eyes…

I like the project overall. From personal experience, I have seen fuel cells get welded on after being filled with water then empties and rinsed more then welded, explode. The fumes don't get washed out and they are what is dangerous. I usually purge with pure argon before welding for safety. I can't wait to watch this run on 2 stroke power!
@donutdan15082 жыл бұрын
Guys used to flash off fumes from large tanks then weld on them. But if they went to lunch and came back the fumes were built up again and would explode when flashed again. I would wash the tank real good then flood with Argon like you mentioned. Redundancy would be a good idea. Be safe everyone Donut Dan

I love my Grom. My friends are surprised when they ride it saying it rides like a bigger bike than it is. Mine is converted to a 32 kilowatt or 32000-watt electric motor and 100.8v 60ah Lithium-ion battery using Samsung 21700 40T cells. It hauls tail. You should someday consider doing an Electric build. If you ever do I can help you out choosing the right parts. Might be able to have some companies donate for a build for your KZbin channel. I'm sure they will as they donate to channels way smaller than yours. Electic cross kart running 40 kilowatts would be gnarly! Nothing would touch it.

Nah, don't waste your time taking a class. Just go to Amason and grab a Forney Easy Weld Flux Core welder and go ham on a piece of scrap. It will click fast. Watch a few Tutorial videos here on youtube. It's easier than people think it is. Especially with the Forney Easy Weld which is labeled for every steel gauge setting and has automatic feed and arc control. I taught myself 15 years ago without videos in a day or two. Later on, you can get a tig welder but for most builds like this, a flux core is all you need to weld tube and plate steel. KZbin University is all you need.

Got to get your hands on some of the European 2 strokes. I put an rd 350 in a 1994 ninja 250 frame. Wicked fast. Working on a banshee engine in a 1995 ninja 500 frame. That should be even better as there is more power to be made from the banshee engine. Keep up the great work! Not sure how the old motor was mounted but like on my moded bikes the original engines were rubber mounted in the motor to frame. Meaning putting a solid mount on the motor it really vibrates. The 2 stoke machines these came out of the bars and foot pegs were rubber mounted. So I added banshee rubber engine mounts to my custom made frame to get around the issue.
