I have a set of the gravel wide++ paired with tubeless Gravelking sks. These tires hardly ever need to be topped up with air even after several days of sitting. They are light and fast! Awesome value for the money!

Great video as always! Thanks for the insights, as I'm currently also considering upgrading my alloy wheels. The weight of 1-2 common household chinchillas might make quite the difference when climbing.

So glad I've found you... you're a lot more relateable than other riders as you seem like a normal guy... plus I'm thinking of buying a BMC Roadmachine. Funny how a good set of carbon rims makes you feel as if you can go faster and completely changes your ride. Good work!

Nice content. I have the scribe 32d wheels. Live in S.Wales and wanted a good climbing wheel. Super impressed with the wheels. Paired with Conti GP5000 fitted by scribe. So fast compared to stock wheels Love them. Freehub is loud, but just keep pedalling if you don't like it😆

I love my Scribe 50+ wide Aero wheels and saved a bit more than a Chinchilla over the Mavic Askiums that came on the bike. Do you prefer the softened sound? Thinking of doing the same as it is a bit abusive when freewheeling in group rides 😂
@MitchBoyer2 жыл бұрын
I used to pack the freehub with grease every few weeks to quiet it down, but now I’m used to the sound and don’t mind it anymore. Cant speak for you group ride buddies tho 😜

Great video thanks! Quick question, I want to buy the same wheels, and had the option of three different rear hubs, sram, shimano and Campagnolo. What was the option you opted in for? I loved the free hub sound check.
@MitchBoyer2 жыл бұрын
My groupset is the Shimano Ultegra 11-speed mechanical, So I went with the Shimano freehub. Definitely wanna make sure you match your groupset and freehub. Also, the team at Scribe is super responsive, so if you send them a quick email with your details, I'm sure they'll help you out. Hope that helps!

Hi Mitch, very nice videos about the BMC bike ! I have a BMC roadmachine too and riding the default wheelset. Had the change off wheels a big impact of ride feel, handling, cornering and compliance ?
@MitchBoyer2 жыл бұрын
I 100% recommend upgrading! I've been very surprised by how drastic the difference has been (in a good way). It's now been about 3 months and 1700miles riding on them. They spin up much faster, and it is easier to maintain speed. Cornering confidence and compliance are even better better (but that might be more affected by the 28mm tubeless tires I am running). Some real world numbers: I have a benchmark climb that I ride every few weeks to measure my fitness gains. When I put the wheels on my bike, I had a massive improvement compared to my previous time 4 weeks earlier (6:29 > 5:55). Over 30 seconds! Some of that was likely due fitness gains (but I doubt I knocked over 30 seconds off my time in just 4 weeks). Hope that helps! Long story short: they make a great bike even better :)

What other wheels were you looking at before you chose Scribe? I have been stalking a set of Hunt Aero 44s and they seem pretty similar to the Scribe right down to the wonderfully obnoxious hub buzz. Did you consider these?
@MitchBoyer2 жыл бұрын
I looked at the Hunt 44s and a pair of used Zipp 303s. Scribe won me over with their customer service and warranty. No regrets so far!

Hey Mitch, it looks like this video has been a year, and I just want to ask about the wheelset? I'm considering C38 or the scribe. How is it so far?
@MitchBoyer Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I still love 'em! I recently upgraded to their Elan wheelset (same size), and love those just as much as the originals. They are a little lighter, but I don't notice much of a difference to be honest. I think the Scribe Core range is an incredible value for the money. They have a new freehub I'm excited to try out--there will be a video on it as soon as I get me hands on one :)

Great video. Love your bike. Debating getting these same wheels….and I live in Palm Springs. Planning to also get 42. How are the wheels holding up? You still happy with the purchase?
@MitchBoyer2 жыл бұрын
I love ‘em! The freehub sound has grown on me and 42 is a nice depth, especially since it’s the only pair of carbon wheels I own. Light enough for climbs and slippery enough to feel fast on the flats. Definitely still recommend them 👍

Awesome video! I’ve actually ordered these last week but it’s reassuring to see your video review of it. I may have to change my bearing option as I’m also in LA and was not sure what to go with so I just went with the endurance option originally. I may also have to pick up that grease. Was it easy to apply for someone that’s never taken a hub apart?
@MitchBoyer2 жыл бұрын
Nice! Hope you enjoy your wheels as much as I have mine. It was really simple to add the grease. The only tools you need (besides a cassette lock ring tool to remove the cassette) are two 17mm cone spanners. Unscrew both ends, and then the freehub slides right off.

Any reference to how loud these are compared to Hunts?
@MitchBoyer2 жыл бұрын
I don’t have any Hunts to compare them with, but there’s a sound check toward the bottom of this article with a bunch of different freehubs (including Scribe and Hunt) cyclingtips.com/2021/02/scribe-aero-wide-42-disc-brake-road-wheelset-review/

@@MitchBoyer Thanks for the link. Ended up ordering the Scribes. Super stoked!
@robr55042 жыл бұрын
These scribes are louder than the hunts, mavics and rovals. My mate bought some scribes and had to pack the hub with grease (at additional cost). The noise might be a nice safety bonus but it’s also really, really annoying and he’s definitely freewheeling less in the group otherwise he’ll get heckled. I run bontrager pro37 wheels which are really, really quiet. I do wonder if packing the hub with grease impacts the performance? We often focus on weight and rim depth but there are other components in the wheel that can effect your average speed/watts
@Brwnrice2 жыл бұрын
@@robr5504 Yeah they definitely do sound crazy. Just ordered my pair yesterday so i’m looking forward to gettin them! Will keep you guys updated on how they are/ noise. I’ve recently spoke with Mark from the Scribe team- super helpful, easy to reach and incredibly patient with me.
