Especially because I never gave you any secrets on how it worked I used to sign players who had pace, off the ball and anticipation with player traits such as “beats offside trap” or “gets forward whenever possible” with a DM that tries killer balls. Absolutely perfect combination! It’s been over a year since I last used it… Might be time to bring it back 👀

Great video, and also surprisingly great tactic considering it worked well against decent teams in my save. I have a challenge for you, though, which I call the Role Roulette. It works like this: You choose a team, either randomly or deliberately, go into the tactics tab, and choose a formation without touching the instructions and roles. Once you have your formation locked in, you must spin a wheel for each player in the team to determine their roles. For example, if you have a player in the centre-forward slot, you spin a wheel containing all the available roles for that position and go with it. You are allowed to choose the duty for each player (attack/support/defend) on your own. Once you have done this for all 11 players in the formation, you can then set up the individual and team instructions however you see fit. The challenge is to make this work in a league season by winning as many trophies as possible. I have tried this myself a few times and all I can say is that the chaos that can be caused by all the random roles thrown around is something you rarely see in FM under normal circumstances, and it’s hella fun.

Defensive wingers are insanely underrated in FM. They're great for neutralising wide tactics relying on overlapping fullbacks. I think you have those guys to thank for for your defensive solidity.

I would of said, if the 3 CMs on attack were hesitant, switch 2 to BBMs as they actually have finishing stats \o/

You can make it much more crazy, with a single CMA as most advanced: IFB-L-L-IFB WB-VOL-A-DLP-WB CMA

I actually used a tactic like this with Maritimo in FM22. Finished 4th place in my 2nd season in charge LM and RM were on IW-A LCM and RCM were on Mez-A CM was on CM-A DM was on RPM 2 IWBs on Attack, 2 BPDs and a SK

I've used a 4-2-4-0 in the past with AMs on shadow striker role. Worked amazingly well actually.

Weird suggestion but a 22222 formation both vertically and horizontally with no repeated positions (can't have 2 CBs or CMs but I think two CFs is unavoidable in the match engine) So something like - X - X - X - X - - - - X - X X - X - - - X - - X Two on each line both vertically and horizontally

Wow - so much angst and drama over using it and look it works perfectly lol I figured it would be easy. Your whole team is basically on defense and waiting for counters and openings. As long as the back line holds up or your players avoid bad mistakes in your third, you're tough to crack. Now do it in reverse. No defense. Every outfielder crowded from CM and higher. It could either be glorious with you pressing them in their own third all game - or ugly if they manage past the CMs.
