Jimmy, Timmy, and Spongebob were definitely the big 3 on Nickelodeon. At least when it comes to after school comedies. Danny Phantom and The Last Airbender probably outrank Jimmy and Timmy, but that's still Top 5 at the time. That really was a golden age for Nickelodeon cartoons.

To this day I still genuinely have no idea why, but for some reason when I was a kid I was absolutely OBSESSED with this movie. I never wanted any Jimmy Neutron toys, and wasn't wearing Jimmy Neutron jammies; but I watched this movie hundreds if not thousands of times over. We had this little portable 10-12" tv/vcr combo that my parents would let me set up in my room and watch it. It feels like it may have been damn near every evening after finishing a hard days work in elementary school, a little after dinner but a little before bedtime, I would make myself some popcorn and a sandwich and go watch this movie in my room.

I believe this was also my first time hearing "Kids in America" and "We Got the Beat". Man, the soundtrack had some infectious bops. Yeah, as roughly as this movie aged in some aspects, it laid a good foundation for the show which I enjoyed much more growing up. It felt like a mostly seamless continuation or sequel. This movie was practically a pilot, and I LOVED when the series referenced it. Ex- Aaron Carter's "Go Jimmy, Jimmy" reprisal. Jimmy Neutron may arguably not be one of Nickelodeon's best IPs of all time, but its history is a nostalgic ride.
