Personally, I think setting up a stall in an art market displaying your own creations and directly facing everything ranging from praise to indifference to criticism takes an immense amount of courage, especially as an introvert and after some very difficult personal struggles you've recently been through. I doubt I could ever find the strength to do that. You should feel proud of yourself as an artist and as a person ❤

Fear is our worst enemy. It's better to be yourself than pretend to be what you are not because later it will ketch up with you. Nelson Mandela said it looks impossible until done. You have done it. From another HSP friend. ❤❤❤

I totally relate! I recently participated in an open mic where I sang original songs and played banjo. In the moments leading up to the performance, I considered breaking a string, “falling” and hurting my hand, anything to get me out of what I’d committed to. As I sipped a beer at the table with my husband and our friends, they told me how proud of me they are, and that no matter what, they’re here to support me. I decided to lean into that: friendship and connection to these lovely people. The unconditional love and support they showed was not outcome dependent. How liberating! So often, the focus is on one aspect - the “scariest” aspect rooted in our survival-based need to be liked, the ego driven not wanting to mess up and make a fool of ourself and laughed out of town… the usual theatrics of an overactive anxious mind - that other important moments are missed. I took a moment to absorb their words; the sentiment and goodwill. I performed, and they loved it. Even though I messed up. But it didn’t really matter. No one noticed, or cared. I am learning that my value is not determined by being perfect. It’s not tied into anything performance or creativity based. This realization, probably more so than any other, has set me free. I’m proud of you for getting out there as well! It isn’t easy by any means, but it’s worth it.

I also appreciate your stance on AI. I can see so many instances of it being unethical in the training and biases being given to them, and taking jobs away. And from an art standpoint I don't see it being as compelling when a human experience is taken out of the equation.

This is a wonderful video, Ana. I am so happy you’ve done this new endeavour. It’s lovely that you can also get your art out there and feel the success you deserve. It is already rewarding you tenfold. As another highly sensitive person, I can certainly relate to the hesitation you felt in doing this. It seems that the beginning is the worst because one imagines it to be negative. I find it difficult right now to step outside my comfort zone in any way. Yet, I am doing it anyway. I’m not sure of the details yet, but I keep myself moving forwards. The momentum carries you through.

Congratulations, Ana, on your adventure of setting up a booth at the art fair. Your strength and courage are inspiring. The journey you have been on, over the past year or so, has been amazing to watch; thank you for continuing to share your life with us. I too, find it easy to stay at home and not interact with the outside world as much as I once did. Just going grocery shopping can sometimes be a trying experience, although there are times when I do enjoy it. Since the start of the pandemic, I have become a more reclusive individual, and am finding it a challenge to reach out and share myself with other - in person that is. I do attend a couple of Zoom gatherings, which I enjoy and one, in person gathering (once a month). All of those things are geared around topics I enjoy and consist of people that are of like mind, which makes it easier. Each day I attempt to follow my heart, to move through the hours once step at a time, allowing myself the luxury of doing mostly those things I find enjoyable. Thank you, once again, for sharing your thoughts and accomplishments. Peace to you and Brian as you continue down your path.

You are so brave to have put yourself out there, and so generous to offer your original artwork! 🤗👏 I imagine you experienced a flurry of mixed emotions to hand over your one of a kind masterpieces. But what a joy to share them with others and picture them hanging proudly in their homes- after all, there is only so much space for them on your own walls and shelves, and why hide them away when they can bring so much positivity to others (and to you as well when they appreciate the beauty and wonder of your artistic mind, heart, eye, and hand)! 😊 No doubt you are providing them with daily happiness, inspiration, art appreciation, and even sparking creativity within them, each time they your art in their homes!! ❤ I’m glad you are proud of yourself, I’m proud of you too! I hope you met many wonderful people and will continue to find ways to put yourself out there! 😊 P.S. I love that you offered many pieces in frames! I think that’s smart because people don’t have to worry about ruining it on the way home or finding a frame for it! 👌😊

Hi Ana. Boy do I understand the challenges of "putting yourself out there". I worry about the potential criticism and rejection that I might have to face, yet I also worry about receiving compliments! It's always been hard to accept positive reinforcement. I think in the long run, the real purpose of all the art and music I made was simply to enrich my own life. If it brought some joy and pleasure to someone else, so much the better, but just like the necessity for taking in food and drink, I would have had a shriveled life without it.

Hi Ted! I hear you - any kind of attention and interaction is stressful for people like us 😊And I completely agree about the main purpose of art in our life.

Dear Ana, I'm so happy seeing how you grow and bloom. Your art is amazing and it's so cool that you stay your true self. I don't know how to explain it, but there is something missing in AI pieces, and this thing/part is somehow very important from my perspective. You're doing so good! Молодец! ❤ Держу кулачки, но я уверена, что этого не надо и у тебя всё получиться. Обожаю тебя! Привет с Польши! 🤗

May be all Artists should swim against the stream. If we are pushing hard/opening enough into our own personal creativity then that is new and often against the stream?

Proud of you Ana. Can you explain what AI art is? I have looked up the definition but I still don't really get what it is.

Thank you, Emily! AI art stands for art images generated by artificial intelligence using prompts from human agents and the art pieces already created by humans before. There are tons of videos on KZbin now about how it's neither ethical nor sustainable.

@@anagoldberg thank you! I watched a KZbin video like you suggested and understand much better what AI art is. It's fascinating but I can empathize with artists the negative side. I did not know until now that such a thing even existed. Our world is changing so fast.

I think in the long term more people will agree with you the no-AI-art stance. Art is good because it was made by a human and has a point of view; AI "art" doesn't have either of these things.

It's so sweet of you to ask this, my friend 🌸 Unfortunately, I can't ship from Serbia now, but I'm trying to think of some other variants. Hope it will work soon 😊
