Though I watch your weekly videos faithfully, I normally don’t write any comments. But I just have to say “thank you” for sharing all your wonderful adventures, and all the spectacular sights along your journey. I used to live in the mountains of Western North Carolina and people came from all over just to see the Fall colors. It was a typical short season as a windy day would cause the leaves to fall. June Lake Loop is always a good drive for color. I remember the first time I ever went there in October of 1967. Being from SoCal like you I never saw a full season change except for trees in the yard.

I spent a few weeks in Northern Idaho in the fall and the Tamarac trees were sort of the harbinger of things to come. After they turned entire mountainsides bright yellow, the vivid reds, and amber against the green pines were almost indescribable. Enjoy.

NOTHING LIKE the Aspens at Silver Lake! Love the shots of Mt Whitney! The Eastern Sierra is my second love of my life. I always know where you are when you are there. John Muir has always been my inspiration....He has never lead me astray!..Thank you so much for sharing these great places. I've been LONGING to go for the last ten years. My wife has health conditions that have kept me from backpacking in my soul place. Thanks to you, I can see it every year and my fondness of the sierras is deep in my heart. I think Sonora Pass from east to west is the most beautiful drive in California. Though it is steep and narrow it has been recently replaced and is in great shape! Don’t miss this drive. You are still the best at these videos. Thanks for what you do!

We drove through it right after they opened the gate. It's a moonscape up there at the summit. I love the Walker River area on the eastern side. We then went on to Reno and rented a penthouse suite for 70 bucks a night! Circus Circus rents rooms cheap at off hours like Sunday.

Cat, thank you so much for bringing me home. I lived in June Lake during the mid 70's at the Cherokee Cabins while taking a break from college to write short stories. Years later, after going to an amazing farrier school in Porterville, I returned as the horseshoer for June Lake's Frontier packstation. To live there 12 months a year is simply magical. Although I live in Montana now, June Lake has my heart. Thank you so much for bringing me back.

Well, you can tell it's getting close to Halloween, as I just saw the scariest and ugliest thing you have ever filmed; It was the $6.00+ per gallon fuel prices.....YIKES!!! We're at the peak of leaf color here in central Iowa right now as well. The little quaking aspens I planted along the lane into my house look amazing. Can't wait until they get big. Last night I made the first fire in the fireplace in my house. I stood outside and watched the smoke curl out of the chimney for nearly an hour. I love being out here alone. But I wish I could have shared that with someone else. I'd ask you if you've thought about your winter plans. But I know it's still too early for you to be thinking about that. Thanks for the Autumn Blessing! Spent much time in the Eastern Sierra and fall is maybe the most spectacular. The one gravel road with yellow on both side reminded me of the road into Lundy Lake. And the Aspens along 395, by Mono Lake, get jaw dropping bright yellow. And the June Lake Loop, always so lovely, and with thrilling hikes into the Ansel Adams Wilderness. Thanks Cat! - I needed that - it touched my old mountain man heart.
