Godspeed. First time viewer, really like your candor and presentation. Nice channel. With a PDK, that Cayman will work as a summer daily. I owned a GT4 with a 6-speed and the gearing is just awful for the street - the GTS 4.0 has the same problem, to the point that the top of 2nd gear with a manual is still over 80 mph even in the GTS. It's just not very usable. I sold my GT4 and got a really nice 997.2 that I am personally much happier with. I also owned my E92 M3 for 7 years and it was an amazing car but eventually you realize an M3 is still just a really nice daily (I replaced my E92 with a G80 M3 6mt as a daily and it is fantastic). If you want a backroads car, more of a pure sporting experience, the mid-engine or rear engine platform is the way to go. Surely you are on the right track with this Cayman. As a PDK, with the extra 7th forward gear, that Cayman GTS is a really nice summer daily and balanced backroads car. For me it just comes down to if you want manual or not. If manual is a requirement for you, then you will find yourself either short shifting a lot on public roads just to shift, or you will have to do very high speeds to get any fun out of the manual. But if PDK works for you, then bang for buck it is really, reaaaally hard to argue with a Cayman.

Love the 718 Cayman. I remember when the Boxter came out, I loved it, good size for me. It eventually evolved to a 4 cylinder which turned me off but I still loved the look. I was just commenting how the 2024 Porsche 911S/T and this car were my favorite looking Porsches even though the 911 S/T is not attainable by most. That is a good launch, not bad at all for N/A 6 cylinder and you can do that all day long.

I wanted an E92 for a long time. Then I started learning about that car and BMW’s in general. Ended up with a 981 Boxster S. It’s far superior in most ways. Porsche builds fantastic engines that are very durable and they are far easier to work on. I went for a blast up the mountain this morning and got 20 mpg for the entire trip. The M3? Would’ve gotten 8mpg. No throttle actuators to replace and no rod bearing issues. It’s much lighter and being mid engined it has better balance, turn in and is just as fast with its lower weight.

I miss the sound of the M3 on cold starts or at redline. I also think the “feel” of the steering on the M3 was beefier and connected. Other than that the Porsche gained my trust quick and that makes it more inviting to push my limits and learn. I could never trust the E92 in a traffic light to launch, each launch was different than the other, you just slam the throttle, pray and hope for the best 🤭not the carrera. Also tight cornering, throttle steering and agility goes for Porsche. Also when you drive a supposedly 400hp carrera s after a 414 hp M3 you know that numbers don’t tell the full story. I love the Cayman, but for that price I am getting a Z51 C8 Corvette and pocketing the change.

Any Cayman will provide many smiles per gallon. Yes, I do own one! 🤠

Dawg you should try out an AMG GTS, the old good ones.

i envy ppl who are not obsessed with cars with V8 and above. They have so many options.

I went from E38 to 987.2 S. Can't believe how reliable the Cayman is!

Do you even have twisties to drive this thing on??? If not what’s the point

Go for the 981 GTS for better looks, all the sound you will ever need and safe some money doing it.

The 987 generation is better imo.. my dad owned a newer Boxster S and it felt so heavy compared to my 987 Boxster with a manual. Throw an aftermarket exhaust on one and you won't have the same speed numbers as the GTS, but damn that thing will sound good and it's a manual!

I mostly drive brand new cars ranging from 3800-6000 pounds. When stepping in anything under 3500 I feel like I'm driving a motorcycle lol. The weight is perfectly fine with me.

@@CarswithMiles Far, I guess I just like the smaller Porsches better since they feel more pocket-like (if that's a way to describe them). You can toss them around corners more confidently with less electronic assistance than the newer stuff.

GTS with GT4 front bumper is peak value and aesthetic!

Also if you get a 2.5T motor, you lose the exhaust note but gain quite a bit of power with a flash tune. 420hp and 410 ft/lbs

One does not just replace a M3! But one can get Cayman to hang out with the M3! 😛

Imagine coming from an E92 and saying the 718 tech is outdated. 😂 Good video and I appreciate your perspective on the car.

I never said my car wasn't outdated lol.

Save some money and get a 981 GTS. Same tech, better sounding engine, and IMO a better looking car overall. PLUS, resale values have basically bottomed out and on the way up because the 981s are how you get the flat-6 without spending 100k on a cayman/boxster. I personally own a 981 and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
