The "Anal" helmet at @4:22 is actually written as Arai, a Japanese company that specializes in helmets of motorcycles, and other helmets from other motorsports, just like Fox Racing but in Japan. These Arai helmets are quite very expensive for their sturdiness and structural integrity (literally made out of Nokia and Volvo from Fukushima) while offers comfort. 6:22 It's actually unironically historically correct. Back in medieval times if you had very important message to deliver, you'd ride on the horse so fast, it'd exhaust them so much, they'd die the second they stopped running and all the adrenalina stopped. Also If you couldn't reach the destination in 1 ride, there were those special stations where they kept horses for messengers, so they could switch to new, rested horse and continue riding. That's why kanji for "eki" (station) has kanji for horse in it.

Speaking of Tomino and Isekai: Garzey's Wing was apparently a spinoff of Dunbine, an isekai mecha show... except set in the distant past and without the "mech" part. Another spinoff released a decade later, the Wings of Rean, does have mechs in it though.

The 'narrative quirks' of Garzey's Wing are understandable given that Tomino suffered a complete mental breakdown in the aftermath of Gundam F91's failure (1991-1992), followed by his severe depression throughout the production of Victory Gundam (1993-94). He was probably bearing the mental scars of post-Gundam burnout when he made Garzey's Wing.

@@chaoscrimsoniaThe reason is that F91 was originally conceived as a tv series but conflicts between sunrise and Tomino resulted in them ordering the first 13 episodes already written to be condensed to a film which resulted in the pacing issues in the film. Not only was one of the first modern isekais as we know them (it's also a mecha anime), but it arguably explores a lot of things this show did and a lot better. Dunbine would also get another spinoff in the 2000s called Wings of Rean. I don't know much about it, but it looks cool. I really don't know why he didn't bring it up since Garzey's Wing is so connected to it.

the reality is he was having a pissing contest with Sunrise after he so badly screwed up Gundam Victory that he didn't want to work with them anymore; trying to do his own series, with blackjack and hookers...with this actually exposing Tomino could not write for himself to save his life. All his previous projects he'd been only the director of, with him doing more to interfere with efforts by the writing staff to write a good story. This consequentially is what you get when a man with no talent for writing tries to do everything himself. His ineptness at writing his own material would come back to bite him again with The wings of Rean and G-reco.

The whole "split-world isekai" thing reminds me of the Otherworld books by K.A. Applegate. Read them when I was a kid, they were pretty great.

If the duplicate body thing is interesting, _Everworld_ is a 12-book series from 1999 that also has something like that going on. When the body in Everworld goes to sleep, that mind recombines with the mind in the real world. The kids use it to coordinate and plan, then it becomes even more important later when they start introducing technology into Everworld.

in case for people who didn't know Garzey's Wing is a spin-off of the kickass mecha anime from 1983 called "Aura Battler Dunbine" which is said to be the grandfather of the modern isekai genre created by the same guy who made Gundam, you need to watch Aura Battler Dunbine first to understand the terminology in Garzey's wing.
