OMG. I have to say it's such a relief to see Inertia pooping on your carpet! That sounds terrible, I'm sure, but it's nice to know it happens to the experts too. Thank you for showing that. I'm serious! And the biting -- my GOD -- the biting! My husband and I have little red scabs all over our forearms!
@doodlelong13155 жыл бұрын
I know! I almost cheered out loud when she started pooping on the carpet, i thought my lab was the only one, she's the same age as Inertia. We've had her for one week and today I almost cried, it was the first time ever she was sleeping in the living room with my other dogs and she got up, went to they back door, sat down, and started whining, as soon as I let her out, she trotted in to the yard and went to the bathroom. That was my proudest moment, and the first time I actually felt like she was understanding all this potty training! Good luck with your pup, I'm sure they will get it!

No, it just shows that he can't read dogs. It was dead obvious from 3:16 on that she was searching for a spot to relieve herself.
@crosita15 жыл бұрын
@@DaveDEF82 He definitely missed the predicting behavior, and it looked obvious to me too, but he's demonstrated an excellent grasp of dog body language in his body of work so you are being way too harsh. Filming with nice (and thus complicated) equipment is not easy. This level of documentary style footage hours doesn't leave time for a ton of retakes, and puppy attention spans don't either. Give a little credit.

I honestly ruined the first months of my dog training by following the training proposed in this channel. Positive training is awesome, but corrections are needed. If you have a dog that works only with positive training praise the gods, you're lucky. but some dogs need more structure, and corrections once in a while (I don't mean hitting them, or any abusive way) but firm, and fair corrections along with the behaviour wanted.
@lizsun2615 жыл бұрын
Fermin Algañarás definitely agreed! correcting puppy nipping, jumping, and other puppy issues is what will help make solid dogs in the future!
@doodlelong13155 жыл бұрын
@Fermin Algañarás I agree, especially with commands like come, the only reason they're coming is because the think you have a treat, but if you call them in public and they think they have something better that a treat, they're not gonna come. They need to know that there's rewards for coming, but that there will also be a punishment for not coming.( obviously not being mean to the dog or anything, just a firm correction that the dog is able to understand)

I live in a country with very bad habits for training dogs. And i've been watching you for over 9 years! My golden retriever is an angel thanks to you and your videos. Everytime when someone asks how i got my dog so obedient, they think it's because she is smart and it was easy for me to train her cause she's smart. I say: no its not just because she is smart, its because ive worked with her from day 1 thanks to your videos and tips. I hate when people just assume i've hit the lottery with my dog and that she was easy, not realising that a new puppy is not just a play buddy but a commitment and a lot of work to get a great buddy. Thank you for these videos for someone like me - that loves working with their dog, always in a good way - they are god sent. I wanted to get your book as well but i can't really get it in my country, but ill keep trying to find a way to get it. P.s. I always give your channel to people that have a new puppy/dog and they are overwhelmed by being 1 time owners. You are my favourite dog trainer.

Such an incredible series especially if you’ve already been through “puppy hood “and see where you have gone terribly wrong and realize how tremendously ignorant your expectations were for a puppy. I had no idea how vital de sensitization was.....and in an urban setting where I live in NYC...so much more so. The thing that sets this series above all the rest of your training videos is that you put it all in perspective for stupid people like myself who thought that teaching a puppy could be accomplished in the time you displayed in your other videos. You made it look so easy in your prior videos and it’s a process that occurs over time. This as stupid as it sounds, I didn’t know, especially as a first time dog owner. I began watching Zak George videos and thought...I can do this. Well, its not that easy. I love your candid oops moments. Makes us all feel human.
@crosita15 жыл бұрын
You are so hard on yourself! You just didn't know better, and you write like a person of intelligence. You're not stupid! If people documented training in real time nobody would have the patience to finish the videos, so pretty much everybody makes it look too easy. It's the down side of this educational format. Be kind to yourself now that you have learned from your experience. ❤️

What a sweet puppy you have there. I think everyone with a new pup should watch this. I did socialization and training with mine - but wish I had crate trained. Because I have a very disabled son I thought he would never be left alone anyway. I did not think about the times I would have to take my son to appointments. Then we had to deal with separation anxiety. It took time but he is fine to be left now for a few hours - had I done the training early it would not have ever been a problem tho.

I am so glad I found this channel! I am a first time owner of a dog. We rescued a 2-week old pitbull/boxer. He is 8 weeks now and he is such a "normal" puppy. People were giving me horrid advice ( to punish the puppy) with spanking and crate punishment. I think that's savage. I found these videos and took sole charge of the training. In less than one day, with your first 2 videos, he is doing AWESOME! A bit afraid of going outside but hey 3 days of training and cruelty-free! I love my little guy and want a happy long life for him. Thank you so much for putting this material out there.

I really needed these videos to bring me back up to speed on puppy training.

This is going to sound nuts, but not only is this preparing me for our puppy soon, but these videos have made me a better mom. Not to sound disrespectful to children, but some things work for both species. I only reward them or give them something if they are calm and not complaining. All of this particular video reminds me of the kind of mom I was too when I had little infants. Desensitizing and providing stimuli. I am feeling so confident for my new baby!

Yes! Hard to find one that will take the time in a regular busy practice. If you can get to a veterinary teaching hospital or look for a low-stress-handling facility that uses the Sophia Yin approach you're much more likely to get one who will take the time. It cuts into their bottom line though, so they might charge more.

Very good! My collie (as seen in my profile pic) is still a shark at times with her puppy biting, but she is doing amazing with crate training. No crying for 3 or 4 nights in a row and she will be 10 weeks old this Thursday.
