A super creative person can come up with an idea and invent something so unique it will take the world by storm, impossible to be duplicated. And then, there is Angelina Jordan. Can you conceive of anyone, anywhere attempting to duplicate what she just did? Every part of the production was phenomenal and with her voice with all it's depth and soulfulness as the centerpiece, this masterpiece designed by Angelina and Toby Gad I believe can win a Grammy and be recognized for it's greatness.

Hi Cliff - this version of this song by AJ hit me, in exactly the same way as when I heard "Back to Black" from Amy Winehouse for the very first time. Angelina's voice has more range and colours than Amy's had, but Amy was an exceptional songwriter who wore her heart and her raw emotions on her sleeve, a courageous yet flawed character who echoed our own mistakes and failings. In contrast, I really loved Angelina's "Shield", "Million Miles" and "Good in Goodbyes"; also "Love Don't Let Me Go" and "Now I'm the Fool" were both good songs and performances. To me, however, this is AJ's first "world class top level" original song, where her vocals, the lyrics and the arrangement amplify each other to create a beautifully-crafted masterpiece that sounds unique and unlike any other singer on the planet, past or present. She and Toby need to promote this heavily in early Feb 2025, just before Valentine's Day, to get that extra "kick" from topical radio plays that might give her that first big hit in a major country. Once that happens, she should soon become a household name.

At 16 she co-wrote this and sang it showing she was done, moving on, it didn’t work out, too bad for you, then two years later we have the same song performed in a way where you hear the sadness of her reaching the conclusion it’s time to end it, and can feel her sadness as if it’s yours.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 You really must listen to the pre-release sneak peak recorded live in a very intimate setting. That was a precursor to the pop version, whereas this is the jazz version. That video is on James Thiel's Summa Engineer channel. She just peels the paint off the walls with the power of her voice. Just a piano, cello, and violin and Angelina's raw performance. There is also the released pop version that was actually recorded pre Old Enough but did not make it onto that EP.

Life? Yes, everyone experiences life. Baggage? No. That’s where we part ways. Baggage is one of the things you can choose to do with life. But, while I don’t know AJ personally, I’ve been to 4 of her concerts and meet and greets, and follow her career for years and I don’t get a sense she’s carrying any baggage around. I get a sense she’s experiencing life, learning from it, and taking it in stride. Otherwise she couldn’t write a song like Thank You. She’d be writing mediocre crap over and over like Taylor Swift whining like a indulgent 13 year old about her bad choices in men and how she’s going to get even. That’s definitely not what I get from Angelina’s music or persona.

She still is a good person and she might be still sweet I will never see her in concert personally, because i live in Germany and can´t fly over to a concert in the US. Angelina has literally shocked me, I love her voice and I'm more and more in awe of her unstoppable musical evolution, I would never have expected that at her age she had already reached such a stratospheric level of vocal perfection. This is truly a beautiful song perfectly arranged for her voices (so many!), both in the first blues version and in this later jazz version, but what she creates in this melancholic and sad version is indescribable and absolutely astonishing, also for the apparent ease with which she does it, in reality the instrumental accompaniment is little more than a simple pleasant decoration, her voice alone is enough to reproduce the emotional effect of a whole orchestra. She is a truly eclectic and extraordinary artist, I understand well why Toby is enraptured by her talent, being able to collaborate with a singer like her leaves a boundless space for musical imagination, you probably can't even imagine what vocal wonders she can create. Her creativity is simply enchanting and astonishing. 💛🧡❤

Claudio, all your literary compositions are unique and this one has captured the essence of why and how Angelina has established herself as an artist soaring to such heights with a degree of magnificence, it is fair to say her voice has touched the hearts of people throughout the world. She is definitely here to sing for us and she brings to us joy, hope and most of all love. Everything she sings chills our bones and warms our hearts with a soulfulness so genuine it often times brings us to tears. But, there's more to it, isn't there? It's also 'who she is', a beautiful, humble, kind, caring and loving human being and we feel all of that in her voice. "Claudio, what's next?" Just had a thought: If Bad Valentine, this version is nominated for a Grammy, wouldn't it be something if Angelina and Toby performed it live at the Grammy's Award Presentation Show!

Thanks for the appreciation Robert. I absolutely agree with you, she is so eclectic and complete in her vocal expressions that she surprises and captures you again every time you listen to her, she is always musically compelling. Of course a Grammy recognition (whit whit performance🤩) as a new artist or young jazz musician, it would be wonderful and it would be a significant push to make her known to the world. But I still love much the way the family and its curators continue to maintain a composed and not shouted public profile, while they are building for the future, increasing collaborations and her contacts in the world of artists. She will become famous, it could not be otherwise, but she will do it having the time to take the measure of a world of entertainment that can crush you if you are not prepared.

Yeah this was spectacular wasn't it? I don't think there is anyone else that can do what she does, While the comparisons to Amy Winehouse seem inevitable for the time being. I feel that in the not too distant future Angelina will surpass all comparisons. Amy was phenominally good in the lane she chose to perform in. I enjoy Amy's music and still listen to this day, but Angelina has virtually no limits. She can sing nearly any genre, and still she creates her own lane with such unique choices.
