One of the better reviews I've seen. I like it very much. The clearness, no-nonsense, and unbiased nature are all good. I like the Polestar because it doesn't try too hard to look like a futuristic EV. It has a traditional maybe hotrod look. I like my M3 LR swoopy lines even with the duck bill grill. I lowered it with H&R springs and 19 TSW wheels to differentiate its looks. Tesla's software is king. Those related features are awesome. The efficiency is awesome. They are able to increase efficiency through ATR updates which is amazing. The more you learn about how Teslas are made (gigapress) and the robustness and future readiness of the software, the more you are not surprised by their dominance.

I got a used 2021 PS2 because of your initial video about your purchase. Your review is very fair. I don’t like the way the Tesla looks. I just wanted an EV that looks like a normal car. It is well built and it is good on longer trips. Most people for everyday driving go less than 40 miles. The range is plenty for everyday use. I got over my range anxiety really quick. Also I do not miss having to go to the gas station every week, especially during the winter

Re: sedans v crossover/suv. I’m 68 (aka The Old Man), and I LOVE my ‘21 M3 SR+ ! Like you, I love the handling, the stance, the efficiency, and the appearance. The M3 (and sedans like your polestar) has it all over the big box SUVs. (Full transparency: I used to drive a SUV; we have two teenage boys [who love it!]; my wife has a VW ID.4 PRO., which she loves.) Really enjoy your videos. Safe travels to all! (Edit: While I’m sure it’s mostly true that EVs are significantly heavier than the ICE counterparts, it’s not always. I compare my M3 with the ‘21 BMW 330i RWD, as that car specs out very similar in price, size, features, etc. Weight: T 3,648 lbs B 3,582 lbs An insignificant difference. Also, I got 38k miles on my stock Michelins, and I consider a good portion of my driving to be spirited. I just put on a new set of Nokia ONE tyres. So far, 600 miles in, I’m very happy with them!)

I bought the exact same model year, color and configuration minus the Performance Pack back in April 2021. At the time, I got it for 0% APR and paid full price but was able to get the $7,500 back on my taxes. I completely agree with everything said - while the car isn't a charging monster and doesn't have the longest range, it is a BLAST to drive (especially in AWD with the Performance Software Update) and meets every need I had. In fact, in the 2.5 years of ownership, I have not once needed to charge away from home. IMHO, the TM3 may be a good car, but it is as bland and common as a Camry (for deserved reasons) and I wanted something different. As for the cupholder issue - I just 3D-printed one that hangs off the glove box. Yeah, you shouldn't need to do that, but it was a cheap and easy fix for a small problem in an otherwise great car.

Bought a used 2021 Polestar 2 with Plus, Pilot, and Leather a little over 6 months ago and put 7700 miles on it since. And I've been using the portable charger at home on a regular outlet! I've gone camping a few times and done road-trips. The OEM Thule roof bars are great and I've used them to haul canoes, mountain bikes, and camping gear so I definitely recommend them. 1300 miles into one road-trip, the car got a airbag malfunction error so I had to leave it with the Polestar dealer there and that was a hassle but otherwise I've had 0 problems with it. I really like how the car handles without the Performance pack and I'm worried I'll get jealous if I ever get to drive one with it lol. Polestar, dog and camp mode please!!

Nice review, I'm just over 1500 miles in a 2024 LRSM and absolutely loving it so far. I had a 2019 Model 3 SMLR and this is, for me, a far far better car. From build quality to interior livability to driving experience, I just find this car much more a well rounded experience. Soon even the CCS road trip charging experience won't even be an issue. Highly recommended.

As an owner of the 2019 launch version Polestar 2 Performance AWD in Sweden and running it for 113,854 km or 70,745 miles, I'm still loving it! It feels like it's still new. It is powerful, steers like a sports car and performs on the many dirt roads we have in this area as if on smooth asphalt. My wifes Volvo XC40 Recharge SM has about half the power and is the boxy SUV-shape she loves more. Both cars are basicly the same platform, but I like the Polestar more for its sporty character.

Hey Max! Great review that I enjoyed watching for two reasons. My brand new MY24 RWD P2 with Pilot arrives next week, and also I graduated with a journalism degree from CU Boulder in the mid 1990s and my first career job was at the Loveland Reporter Herald newspaper. Back then I spent all my spare time in the mountains fly fishing and camping in my full-size Bronco, my first car. Fast forward 30 years and I am on Kangaroo Island and am getting my first EV, and chose the P2 for the exact same reasons as you, but for me range and RWD of the update were the tipping point, plus I was ready to take the plunge. I did get a 7kw solar system/Tesla Powerwall last week too, so there’s that. Interesting thing about the new Polestar in Australia is our dual motor does get the new battery/inverter, also we get the Pixel headlights with the Pilot. I chose not to get Plus, for savings, and also because of our hot climate, I like the idea of having a cocoon without the sunroof and didn’t want/need the heat pump or heated back seats etc. I probably will miss the HK stereo, but oh well. This is the most car I’ve ever owned, all my previous three vehicles been pick-up trucks, other than that Bronco and that was very basic! I did get the towbar package and that actually held my delivery up to two weeks as the MY24 needed a new module shipped in from Sweden to make it work. It now works but the ferry company quoted Polestar $4000 for the car carrier to come over from the mainland to do the home delivery. Now I wait and track the VIN as it makes way over from Melbourne to Adelaide. So close!

Review is solid. Thank you. Polestar is a pretty well established outfit. If you know Volvos, Volvo has had the same gold seatbelt, gold brake calipers, manual Ohlins dampers in the XC60 and s60 Polestars that are in this car. And also, so much of the car is Volvo, the seats, the materials. Volvo even designed this car as Polestar personnel design starts with the Polestar 3. But all of those designers are ex-Volvo designers. People get confused and think well, it's in the Geely group and such so that's why they are similar but Polestar and Volvo are the close brands. A brand like Zeekr or Lotus doesn't share so much most of the time (except Polestar 4 is more based on a Zeekr than Volvo, but it is the exception--yet that still uses Volvo materials). So, I'm basically saying this is a sporty Volvo. Polestar is a spinoff from Volvo and shares so many Volvo characteristics in terms of body structure feel and ride quality and such. It feels like a Volvo. If you like that European, yes European, feel, as the Chinese purchase hasn't changed the content of Volvo and where they are created/engineered/designed and such, then Polestar feels familiar. Tech, well, that's not the focus. I don't really care that much about driver's assist. The thing I like about driving is steering around corners. If anything, I wished the car could automate the stop and go drudgery of driving. But, that's not the car's forte. Efficiency, never has been a Volvo forte. Solidity, though, and comfort and such, yes. As for the console, that's just a weird design decision by Polestar (which they've totally fixed in the Polestar 3). The XC40 Recharge (BEV) version does not have this issue. As for the back, this is a 4 passenger car. Even if it had a flat floor 5 passengers, 3 in the back, would not be good for longer trips.

@@fredlabonte8946 Blah blah blah. You think everyone has the same issues you have? Why not survey Polestar users and see who has problems and don't. Everything boils down to China, a very simplistic way to explain the issues with your car. Cars totally built in Sweden, Germany and the USA also have big issues as well. Tired of your whining.

So maybe stop blaming problems with your car on China as well as stop posting the same thing over and over on Volvo and Polestar products. Maybe your car is a lemon. I don't know, But there are a lot of satisfied Volvo c40, XC40 and Polestar 2 owners that don't call their cars "junk."

I am getting my Michelin Cross-climate 2 for my Tesla Model Y, I have a set mounted to my Fastwheels EV01+ wheels which was for my 2023 Ioniq 5 but Michelin CC2 are 245/R50-20 which are 1/2" too tall and they just slightly rub on the top of the front suspension cradle. The wheels work on both the Ioniq 5 & Tesla Model Y same bolt pattern, same offset but I needed adaptors for the slightly different hub size. I have a set of Michelin Cross-climate 2 235/R40-20 which practically has the same wheel diameter as the 20" just missing it by 0.3" comparing the Tesla wheels & Pro-pilot OEM tires overall diameter. Love the Cross-climate had them on my 2019 Soul EV great tires for the Pacific Northwest especially for our BC Canada high mountain passes that require 3 mount peak / snow rated tire from Oct 1st to May 1st. I love the Polestar 2 but the seat ingress and egress is too low for my 60's plus knees!

Great review - would have loved to hear about fast charging experiences and impressions on use in city or country. Is it lively and fun in urban settings? That is my concern about picking up a used eTron. Kyle waxes poetic about it being a great road tripper, but will it feel like a barge around a city? I am in the market for a used EV in the 35k range and there seem to be a lot of stark tradeoffs between models at this price point regarding being fun and being a long distance cruiser. I want both. Polestar 2 is an amazing deal used but so is the Audi, iPace and even the EV6 Wind. And, by the way, I want a pony.

Nice review! I'm waiting on a Polestar 2 (2023 - Pre owned) to be delivered this week. Similar approach to you, I've bagged all the 3-packs which is £20k + cheaper than going brand new with only 6,000 miles. Given the steep value drop for new EV's - combined that their struggle to shift stock in the current climate - going "pre-owned" is 100% the way forward. Plus I'm not a fan of the newly designed front grill, nowhere as nice compared to previous models. Polestar - best designed EV in the market. Tesla - visually not at the same level.

This is helpful perspective. I've got a deposit in on a fully optioned EX30, but strongly considering a used P2 instead. P2 has older tech, slightly too large for me, ~$6-8k cheaper, probably nicer build. The engaging drive might be enough to win me over. I fear the EX30 is going to be boring. I'd rather have fun in the corners and confidence when challenged. Fastest Volvo ever 0-60 means nothing if it can't handle in a sporty fashion. P2 speaks to that directly with tunable suspension and brakes.

Yes, it makes the pedal a little more responsive/sensitive at low speeds. Noticeable but not major. If you want quicker acceleration, especially past 45 mph, I'd say go for the upgrade! It hasn't made parking more difficult for me and I also use creep off with One-Pedal on full.

The PS2 is overpriced, so buying a pre owned with the dual packs at 20 to 30% depreciation is a deal. Once my lease is up, I might renew with a 2026 PS2 or maybe take a look what Lexus, BMW, and even the Fiskar offers in 2026. We’ll see what happens with EV development in a few years.

You don't have a 2022 electric Volvo. If you did you would definitely have said the model instead of "electric" so most likely you just made shit up to spew a bit of anti Chinese hate as that is what your post reeks of.

@@fredlabonte8946 You just repeat yourself. So what the parts are made in China? It's anti-Chinese crap that you're spewing. You don't think there are problematic cars whose parts are made elsewhere? The C40 is made in Belgium. Volvo's parts are internationally sourced.

Im no tesla fanboy and i have nothing against polestar or any other EVs. Lets be real every new EV is called Tesla killer until they are actually on the road, they try to copy tesla but no car except maybe Lucid has even come close to the efficiency, technology or reliability of Tesla. Yes it had some quality control issues but they are mostly fixed 2019+ models. Im sure tesla is not everyone’s cup of tea or they dont like the owner but nothing has come close to tesla. Polestar may be good a car for first time EV buyers but from my experience once you own a tesla you cant say polestar is good compared to tesla. Good video though.

I think the build quality in the Polestar is better than any Tesla I've driven (8 different cars), the Polestar is quieter, has great blended brakes, does the dual maps in gauge+center display better than even the Model S, and gets "real" car things better like turn indicators, steering wheel, horn location, throttle response, etc. It can also can drive like an ICE car and have different profiles saved to the key or PAK. It also has ventilated seats, which you can't get until you move up to the Model S, or wait for the refresh. Autopilot is better on the Tesla, but the Polestar is smoother at start and stops and modulating speed under adaptive cruise control. A year ago, the price of these compared to a Tesla was pretty close. Now, a new Tesla M3/MY is closer to the price of a used Polestar 2. On paper, the Tesla is a better car value, but IMO is not a better car. I'm glad both brands exist, and I hate to think where we would be without Elon and Tesla moving this forward.

@@davidditzler2704 Wow 8 different teslas, nicee!!! I’m glad both cars exist too, so people can test drive both and see the difference. 😊 throttle response really? yes i agree about indicator stock (i heard its an option now for those who wants the stock) and horn location is stupid but other things you mentioned are lets say interesting... I have been in both, polestar feels like a boat, and “also drive like an ICE car” is not a plus point for the argument. There is nothing even worth mentioning about the tech in polestar. Are you really saying “does the dual maps in gauge+display better than tesla”? If you are, it makes your whole arguments here questionable… Polestar being expensive does not make it worthy or better, lots of bad cars are as expensive or more, than reputable, reliable and excellent vehicles, that does not make them better cars. I hate to think that too but i cant close my eyes either. That statement says alot about your comparison here…

@@BA-ht8bg If your wife does not want an electric car and wants a "normal" car then it's a huge plus in my world. IMO the dual maps are done better than the Model S. In the model S the gauge map is a turn by turn and if you have a lot of turns coming up it's not that useful. The Polestar shows the route and works on it's own and is larger, so that's why I give the edge to the Polestar. The Polestar being expensive is a big negative and is not that competitive without the rebate and in its favor anymore. In Chicago we have no canyon roads and the only curves we have are avoiding potholes and crazy drivers, so I appreciate a softer suspension but not bouncy and for an EV the Polestar without the performance pack does OK. I would be happy in a dual-motor MY with aftermarket coil overs and aftermarket center display. It wouldn't seem special to me, but it would get the job done with no range anxiety and easier to drive on longer trips with autopilot. I would miss my leather ventilated seats the most and also curse their dumb implementation of fixing things that didn't need fixing like using a touch screen to change where the air is blowing and moving the horn and daily inconveniences that are common touchpoints.
