It seems like this guy is a knife maker, artist, and a mechanical engineer all wrapped up into one person. His knives are truly amazing, some of the best that I have seen in a long time. It was truly shocking to see all of the small details that go goes into his knives.

The level of craftsmanship this man has is ungodly in the knife world. its extremely tight tolerances to make a push but hidden in the bolster like that. truly amazing!

Just amazing. I don't think I blinked an eye during the whole video, and savored every moment, but when he said there's NO CNC machine and the like, I could've jumped up & screamed "YEAH"!!! Most inspiring video I believe I've ever watched for creating anything. And I have always believed that NO machine or robot will ever come close to the Artisan's mind, eye and hand. The Human SPIRIT trumps all. Thanks so much for posting this video. Glad I stumbled on your channel !!!

@patrickjaroch50849 жыл бұрын
unbelievable craftsmanship. for those that say it isnt worth the price thats ok. a cheap knife with good steel will perform just fine . but the value here is intrinsic and i can appreciate the time and attention to detail.
@cahsahhhhhhhn9 жыл бұрын
patrick jaroch Like he said: It is a work of art. People that don't value it as art may be better served by a $200 knife, but the esteem and pride that comes along with that knife would more than make it worth the money, I'm sure

I love watching anyone with so much passion and skill put to any productive use. Stan was also quite gracious in lending his time for this fun shop tour. I've got a few years on me now too, and I have the exact same flip up magnifier that I use for all fine detail work. The young guys call it my Geezer Vision.

Really impressed with the craftsmanship(that is so rapidly dying off) this man not only possesses, but exhibits so effortlessly. All without modern CNC. Truly a master of his craft, and an inspiration to someone like myself that aspires to his level of craftsmanship one day. I'm not a knife guy either. But that hidden button release speaks for itself. All by hand? Please. Still in awe.

I have, in the past slated some of the knives you have shown.....but, this guy is on a whole different level. He takes perfection to a whole different level. I am in bewilderment at what I have just seen.....The complexity, beauty and frankly madness invoking attention to detail has to have other knife makers quaking in their boots. Nobody has created stuff like this since time of the very finest watches, carriage clocks and animatronics in the 18th century. This is a truly stunning look into a world less know, and I thank you for making this video.

Thanks again Jim, and Stan! I am appreciative that you shared your time and gave us the ability to see that knife and the insane work that goes into it! I understand the gut reaction about price, but if you can't afford a Picasso you go to a museum if you love art! some of us don't have the ability to go view the Picasso at the museum so it is nice that Jim brings the museum to us via KZbin. For all the haters you are helping inspire the next generation of craftsman.

I said previously that paying thousands of dollars for a knife was stupid and that I didn't understand how or why anyone would. After seeing this MASTER create an absolutely brilliant piece of art-I GET IT!!! Holy smokes,you can not even see a hint of that button and the precision is just breath taking. Guys that use CNC told build their knives should all experience this mans genius. CNC machines do produce some amazing knives but while programming is tedious those guys should be embarrassed. This man is a master of hand crafting a working piece of art and his work is priceless in my eyes and I could only dream of attaining such a level. Thanks for opening my eyes.

Stan Wilson's Advisor's are the sole reason I got into collecting... Please bear with me as I try to keep this quick. Woke up with terrible toothache mid 2010. Found out price of root canal treatment. Web searched "root canal" treatment images. Saw a Stan Wilson Advisor with Mammoth tooth scales in the results In agony the next day bought a George Muller Mammoth tooth folder on line from AT Barr's old website *and* a bottle of Talisker. Pain went-Knife stayed. Maybe one day I will have the pleasure of owning one of his creations! Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your Video Jim.

Just came across this and it was a treat to see such a craftsmen at work, assembling his knives that are akin to precision timepieces that go for six figures! It was also a double edged sword, as seeing the level of work here shows just how far I have to go yet with my own skills, and I could literally see a gap the size of the Grand Canyon open up separating myself and Stan Wilson!
