Personally, I am a Thai who has a good experience in Afghanistan since I went there like 3 months ago. I traveled through the Pakistan border into Afghanistan. I contacted a local guide who spoke very good English and took care of me throughout the trip, including driving, booking hotels, giving advice on local language translation and tourist documents in Kabul and Bamiyan (I am not a good English speaker). Throughout the trip, although there were some chaos, it was not serious. The Taliban police officers along the way paid me good attention, since I was an outsider and knew some local language, and the government officials did a good job. Most of the people I talked to were quite friendly. I was impressed by the scenery and saw things that I never see in the normal media. All of this is just my personal experience (maybe the reason why things went smoothly was because of the guide and my good attitude). Thank you. ❤

I would like to provide a correction at 24:40 . The Taliban are not Salfists. They are Deobandi which in a nutshell is connected to and named after the Islamic University of Deoband - Dar al-Ulum - in India and Deobandi are of the Hanafi school of thought and recognize all 4 main schools of thought (Madhabs) as legitimate and accepted. This distinction is important as 99% of all the Sunni Muslims are Hanafi an in Afghanistan being a "Wahabi" (A type of Salafi) is considered an Insult.
@afgspamz3 ай бұрын
Also they are completely against salafists and declared them to be dangerous and enemies of the religion.
@Mira-cchi3 ай бұрын
Not 99% brother. Almost the whole African muslim populations are Maliki and part of other arab countries as well. Hanafi is the biggest (especially in Asia) but Maliki is also big. And another thing is that they are the earliest madhabs as well being less than a century after the death of the prophet. So this video and media in general is wrong when they say that salafi/wahabi are "fundamentalist" when they are just modern innovations...

They are salafi 😂 In in Kabul right now and I had an argument with a Talib. And he told me that we are salafis, You can be a hanafi, Hanbali, Maliki and still be a salafi. Salafi refers to anyone trying to follow Quran and Hadith. So they themselves will always claim to be salafi. I think you’re confused about their madhab. Their madhab is mostly Hanafi but a large proportion of their followers are Hanbali (Wahhabi) as well, Mostly the ones around Nangrahar.

The bureaucracy ordeal is both hilarious and horrifying. Afghanistan had changed regimes probably as much as flags and every single one of them went: 'I don't have the time to deal with this sh*t now, just leave it be'. And the infernal bureaucratic monster just kept growing and spreading. Someone from the current ruling party probably tried to clean things up a bit at one point but then quickly realised that it would be much easier to fight and defeat (multiple) invaders all over again that to change some entry permit regulation.

@fives5555arc3 ай бұрын
24:40 I kinda have to make a correction on this. Salafism isn’t a school of thought in Islam, it’s an ideological movement. Also the definition you used saying that Salafis are those who want to return to the ways of early islam technically would register every muslim as a Salafi since, to muslims, the practices of the early muslims is the standard that should be followed. The differences between Salafis and most mainstream muslims is that Salafis have a different methodology to achieving that goal and have different interpretations that differ from the main schools of thought when it comes to practicing religion and viewing how the original muslims were like. Salafism as a movement is very broad and includes groups like Wahhabis and Quietists who are both very ideologically different.
@mueezadam84383 ай бұрын
While Wahhabism is historically and theoretically a Salafist branch, in practice the movement has co-opted/incorporated several elements which place it at odds with Salafism, namely ethno-nationalism. That’s the nature of geopolitics anyways, populism is a vehicle through which one elite faction may achieve supremacy over the other, it’s always a big tent ideology meant to grab as many supporters as possible.
@fives5555arc3 ай бұрын
@@mueezadam8438 Thanks for the correction and I couldn’t agree more. Salafism is also in an umbrella in itself. It is an extension of the Islamic Modernist Movement of the 19th century. This broader movement brought so many different ideologies that it’s insane to think that they all stemmed from the same movement. The Modern Islamic Feminist movement was one of these movements, which is really ironic to think that this movement shares an ideological origin with Salafism under the Taliban. All with the one question or topic of how the Islamic world should operate itself in the modern era.

@rapha68722 ай бұрын
So a minor mistake at 24:45 .... Talibans donot practice "Salafism" . They are basically "Hanafi's" after the name of Imam Abu Hanifa. Hanafis are basically one of four mainstream interpretations and schools of thought of Islam i.e. Hanafi, Shafi , Maliki , Hanbali ...... Salafi's means religion and interpretation according to the first three generations and represents collective consciousness of the first three generations of muslims following the Prophet i.e. Sahaba, Taabeen, Taba Taabeen. In short, salafism is mainly practiced by Saudi Arabia, ISIS, ISIL etc.
