Personally as a greek citizen I do not care much about the name of the country, I think most people who are annoyed solely by the name are because they are part of macedonia (greek part) and are getting confused with north macedonians. I think the real reason people are getting annoyed is because they are altering or even "stealing" historic events. Me personally I feel genuinenly bad for the younger generations of north macedonia who are fed with lies and propaganda just so the country can create patriotism. I don't mean to come out as offended or offensive or angry, in fact i am not patriotic myself, I'm just telling you the information that I know and my thoughts on this matter. We have a lot of these towers in Macedonia too. Especially in Kratovo. Twelve of the 17 towers built in the Middle Ages still rise in the city: 5 on the left bank and 7 on the right bank of the river Tabačka. All built in stone, there are still 5 of them in a good state of conservation, but only one can be visited. Rising on 3 to 4 floors, they are designed in the same way: wider and wider openings as you go up and balconies on the upper floors. The city also has 6 bridges, including 4 stone bridges dating from the Ottoman period.

There used to be lots of them in Bulgaria too but they have mostly disappeared unfortunately. Honestly it looks like a normal Balkan city. And the "Neo-classical" buildings look fake. Google Neo-classical buildings in, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy and other western countries and you can clearly see the difference in quality. The statues look good but there are too many of them and most of them depict people that have no connection with the history or culture of the prodominetly Slavic Macedonian population. The clearly tried to make Scopje more hellenic looking so it can fit more with their pseudohistoric beliefs. Such a waste of money. They should have used the money for something more practical and beautiful rather then this abomination. But what do you expect from nationalists.

What connects a people group is languge, culture, and traditions which as a matter of fact you don't share any of those with the ancient Macedonians. Even your government admits that in the Prespa Agreement. The only reason that you even have a claim to a form of the name Macedonia is that you are located in the Macedonian region. The name Macedonia in the context of your people is geographical, not ethnic.

What traditions are shared between Greek Macedonians and Ancient Macedonians? None. Because modern Greek Macedonians are Christian and not worshippers of the Olympians. So I guess by your definition they aren't related since they don't practice the exact same traditions. But of course that is irrelevant to you. You talking about ancestry over thousands of years and you compered it to a two generation relation. Second, even if you had a large amount of native Balkan DNA it wouldn't have been Macedonian. The Macedonian didn't live in the area of Modern-day North Macedonia. This area was populated by Thraco-Illirian people. Third, why do you bring Greek Macedonians into this?? Saying that Greek Macedonias are not related to Ancient Macedonia doesn't justify your claim. And yes, sense Greeks have a Hellenic language and ancient Macedonians spoke a Hellenic language they have better claims than you. And you may not care about what politicians say but you people elect them into your government so what they say is what the country says.

Cultural inheritance is the best claim a country can have for people that used to live 2000 years ago. As a guy born and living in North Macedonia THIS.IS.EPIC. two facts tho... the city is originally built to house around 500 000 people, but since Skopje is the most developed city probably roughly around 1 000 000 people live here maybe more. In fact we will know that after our census ends next month for a fact. And the Albanians arent even 25% factually because as we have moved to Germany for work they move as well nobody bothers to stay here and live so id estimate there are roughly around 10% of Albanians remaining, the difference with this is we will truly never know because if there is under 25% they lose the stipulations in the "Ohridski ramkoven dogovor" so their influence in this country will cease to be, and America will never ever let that happen.
