Beenleigh is a suburb of the city of Logan in south-east Queensland. It was founded in the mid 1860's. At first it was a centre of sugar cane production but today is a busy and growing part of Logan.
And I walked every road of it. All of them.

Great job! TimeStamp 25:39 No# 35 SunnyView Street. The house at the very top on the right side (forward facing) was the house my parents built. When we first lived there, that road was all dirt. It was the best part of Beenleigh to grow up in during those days. Kids in all the houses at the top of the hill on this corner and further down the street. We use to have wild horses and all manner of wildlife out the back because it was all bushland. Yabbing in the local creek and playing in Willow Park, which is off to the left down behind the house with the white 4x4 out front in your shot. You have made my night. Pitty things have to change and progress, but it was nice to re-visit the old Beenleigh I still have memories of.

Thanks so much for your video. What a trip down memory lane. I grew up in this town and walked every one of these streets. Your video was an awesome tribute to Beenleigh. Couple things u forgot to mention though was the little reservoir u were talking about down below McDonald's there on reservoir Rd. There used to b the old train turnstile over that water. So the train would drive down get to the turnstile and then the train would b turned around and sent back to the old St. We also used to have an African lion safari called bullens African lion safari just out on the highway. I suppose technically it prob wasn't in Beenleigh anymore, prob more yatala but all the locals knew the place. On the drive back to Beenleigh we'd always b looking for the elephants. Also where market place is now there used to b a really old train bridge leading to the bush and paddocks. That train bridge was bloody scary and high but to get to the paddocks and bush you'd have to go over it. On the other side was this really cool tree if u wagged school that's where you'd go lol. If u walked thru the paddocks there was a very old house in the middle there. If u kept walking you'd end up at tandarra caravan park. That place was famous in its own right lol. Beenleigh was halfway between Brisbane and Gold Coast and was the starting point if u were heading up Mt Tambourine. Does anyone remember Beenie's (it later became crystals night club) and the Beenie's booze bus? The bus was a party in itself often better then the night out lol. That was out at the rum distillery. We watched Rodney rude there and Skyhooks (RIP shirl) and many other famous acts. I could talk all night lol. So many stories so many memories so much history. A few celebrities came out of Beenleigh also. We grew up on crest St 2 houses down from the ph box lol. I wonder if the ph box is still there? Did u find the tracks from crest St thru to Adelaide circuit down behind the units jump over the waterway up the St and your at crazy cobs. (it's prob called something different now) It's the little shop behind the overpass. If u went the other way on crest St you'd go thru all the parks and then end up in the bush. There were creeks and pathways all thru that bush we used to play there as kids. There's a few hidden Rds in the bush down there that only the locals knew about if there's any bush left? I think it's all estates now. That's all the bush behind and to the side of Teys bros meat works. Is Teys still there? The Rd was so bumpy and washed out in spots you'd have to have a decent car just to get thru and know where u were driving lol we also used to do a lot of hooning up behind the old scout hall. Fun times there lol. Did u know they cut Lehman's hill in half cause too many cars were crashing into the houses at the bottom. Was one hell of a hill that one almost a vertical climb in some spots. I think I need to visit my town again and go for a walk. I prob wouldn't recognise it now though I don't know why u started walking and making a video but I thank you for doing it. U brought some tears to my eyes looking at all the old streets it was an absolutely crazy fun place to grow up and I'm glad I did it there u did the town proud and I thank u for that.

Met my wife at Beenies about 20 years ago..Still can't believe they pulled it down!!! Teys Bros is still there but there's housing estates going up all around it... (that smell though haha). Beenleigh has changed a lot in the 40 years I've been here (actually Mt Warren Pk) and people are finally starting to appreciate just how awesome it is..

@Cherie Currell thanks very much for your detailed and very interesting feedback. There were many things I could have mentioned along the way but I didn't want the video to become too long! There is a pathway through a park that links Crest Street with Adelaide Circuit - is that the one you are thinking of? But yes Teys is still there and Teys Road is quite a smooth journey these days. I did indeed discover that Lehamns Road is cut at its lower end, i.e the road is now in two parts. No wonder they cut off the lower half. Certainly, if you have any old photos of the town from yesteryear I'd love to see them :-)

I remember the old train bridge ... I walked over it and when I got half way across, I froze. Because of the height. My friend that was with me had to get me help cause I couldn't move. Wow - I remember the lion safari and the occasional news bulletin of a big cat getting loose. Miss the old Bennleigh show and the smell of the agricultural exhibits, fireworks and going in to the hall next to the primary school to have a look at the exhibition and prizes. I think I got a third for best colouring of a map of Australia (Pencil shaving was as big craze back then.) I think the teacher I had was either a Mr Pauly and Mrs or Miss Prim from memory... (She was a harsh lady). Mr Scott was the Principal and Mr Dodin the Vice Principal, this is at the Bennleigh Primary School. 1982 - 1987 roughly.

Nice Content. I grew up in Beenleigh in the 70's and 80's and have fond memories of Beenleigh. I often drive through on my way back to the Gold Coast from Brisbane. Beenleigh has only doubled in size since I lived there and is still recognisable too me. It hasn't changed much at all and that is what is so appealing. People from Beenleigh were a tough and honest lot and I still remember the Black snow from the sugar cane field fires. I have literally run every road in beenleigh and surrounding areas as when I was at school I use to run and train every where there :)

Very good Rob. Do you have any advice as to how The Beenleigh Brass Band (BBB) can find the RP description and maps of Centenary park / City rd for the period 1955- 1965?. The BBB built its current bandroom in 1960 on land perpetually licensed to it for 24/7 use by the Albert Shire Council, a licence honoured by the Gold City Council but now reneged upon by the Logan City Council with a very unsatisfactory alternative and no compensation. The band room is listed for destruction in March 2024 which means the end of many activities the band supports, including its probono teaching program. The Titles office seems unable to match the RP decriptions in the licence. Can you suggest search avenues please?

There used to be a vet hospital on the corner of Milne and Main street back in the 80's. I did work experience there and the vet asked me if I was squeamish as he was about to operate on a cat. I wasn't but the vet opened a bottle of ether which I got a whiff of, and I dropped like a sack of potatoes. So embarrassing and I ended up with a migraine from it. The vet apologised profusely once I came to and I got to watch quite a few operations after that incident.
