I was only 13 when I asked my dad if we could rent this for the weekend back when DVD rental stores were still around so he said sure and my brother and I watched it that Friday night. It was one of the funniest movies I’d ever seen and still is today. I had no idea that that was even Tom Cruise but he was one of my favorite characters in the whole movie because he absolutely killed it.

Because he was recovering from some rocky PR when it came out. In the few years leading up to its release, he had his little trampoline moment on Oprah's couch, a video of him talking about scientology had leaked, he made himself look pretty bad in an interview with Matt Lauer, and he had some drama with a reporter that squirted a water bottle in his face. His public image was somewhat tenuous between '03-'08.

No one has ever said that Tom can't act. They've said he's bat s*** crazy, they've said that he's had mediocre films and they've even said he was too short for Jack Reacher. But no one has ever questioned his acting ability, even his performances in the mediocre films and the Jack Reacher films were praised. In conclusion, even when Tom Cruise makes a bad movie, he's often the best thing in it and reason enough to check it out...except The Mummy (no one needs to see that s***)
