Holy Hey, I just looked up the Interex and they sound awsome! I'd never even heard of them before...damn workshop, why are you so obsessed with Chaos when interesting ideas and factions like this existed? Thats the biggest problem really, that the imperium doesn't have a mirror. Chaos doesn't have any civilizations, no real internal politics, no civilians...the Tau are the closest thing the Imperium has to a rival, and they A) are really pathetic in comparison, and B) getting grimdarked to hell and back.

What about humans from beyond the astronomicon? Beyond the far reaches, far flung humans that have their own stcs, their own culture, their own gods, etc. Still having to fight chaos, etc However the problem is that it’s kinda tough to find an archetype for them. The whole range is kinda covered of things to do, to make them unique. Humans are kinda limited in what they can be, whereas new Xenos can be infinite in possibilities
@themutantgamer44947 жыл бұрын
Not true. Humanity could genetically alter itself, to be faster, and stronger without the need for becoming a space marine, a Human with sharp retractable, claws Increased reaction times taken from Animals or even dead Xeno civilizations ... Whose technology is not based on STC but innovation, exploration and the desire to Research instead of just twiddling its thumbs for 10k years The Empire could Just be in an area defended via spatial anomalies they created... hich were messed up by Magnus. Hove No psykers... but tech. Maybe even Bioforming themselves with organic armour and weaponry which outwardly looks like technology... Or even you could go one further and say they evolved to be this hyper Psyonic race who use fire against fire who's soldies understand chaos must exist so forge it, control it and beat it into submission via technolgy from the old ones.
@TheTank19007 жыл бұрын
I disagree, because I think that Warhammer 40k is missing one of the most enduring aspect of humanity: the drive to innovate. Kirioth talked about it a little bit in the machine construct race, but the current state of Warhammer presents two essentially stagnant facets of humanity. The first is the Imperium, which is afraid of innovation, afraid of change, stuck in their dogma to such a degree that only the introduction of the Deus Ex Primaris Space Marines has kept them from stagnating themselves into Qing levels of oblivion, and Chaos who's only source of innovation seems to be new and interesting ways to turn people into demons. A race of humans that, rather than stagnating, has just continued to innovate in an entirely different direction and never stopped would be extremely interesting and a fresh take, exploring the equal and opposite part of humanity than the one the Imperium manifests.

A planet cut off from the Imperium, which developed into a huge techno-barbarian empire like the long dead Terrans. Speaking of Terrans, if Cawl was to introduce traitor gene seed and create new chapters from it, how sick would it be to remake the pre-heresy legions? Luna Wolves, Dusk Raiders, etc. Chapters which defy their traitorous "brothers" and fight to regain the honor of their very DNA. The whole idea of loyalists standing true to mankind while their father and brothers sought to ravage it is great. Hell could you imagine openly loyalist Iron Warriors, standing with the Imperial Fists?

The main problem(aside from several legions being likely inevitable traitors due to gene-seed problems) would be in the perception of the legion. Remember the high lords are scared shitless of even the slightest concept of another Heresy(for understandable reasons) and then there`s the matter of the other Astartes, literally every other space marine in the Imperium would see them as inherently untrustworthy at best and heretical at worst(I wouldn`t be surprised by a chapter like the wolves or Templars being openly hostile if not straight up violent). TL;DR: It would be cool but would cause a civil war in the Imperium

I want to see more factions within the xenos races. Its always been weird that theres so many chapters of space marines and so many different chaos factions but Ork is just ork and Tyranid is just Tyranid. More along the lines of Dark Eldar would be nice, like a techy tyranid force that is Borgesque, or Necron that have fallen to a chaos god.
@Argosh7 жыл бұрын
Connor Johnston so basically like hive fleets? Different Craftworlds? There's plenty of factions, just lacking codex support badly.
@rononel80466 жыл бұрын
You'd never really see that in Tyranids since it's a Hive Mind, i.e. they all think as one. With Orks there are loads of little differences between the clans, Goths are close combat barbarians, Speed Freaks/Evil Sunz are all about bikes and trucks, Bad Moonz are very tech orientated with lots of 'eavy armor Death Skullz loot EVERYTHING, Snake Bites are again barbarian like but like riding Squigs/wild boar and finally you've got the Blood Axes which actuallu like order and organisation and have a coherent heirachy. That doesn't include Freebootaz who are basically Ork Pirates of the Caribbean...

It would be really cool if there was trans-human race that is more of a hard science fiction humanity than fantasy one. A humanity with Dyson Swarms and Matriosha Brains around stars, living in massive artificial habitats. Once Imperium discovers it and tries to kill it they have such an enormous industrial capabilities, extracting materials straight from the stars and building massive armadas in the matter of weeks or months that Imperium can not deal with it as if they were usual xenos.

Perhaps a human and/or robot faction from the Andromeda galaxy? It'd be interesting to see what a (potentially agnostic/atheistic) human faction that previously had no exposure to the Warp does to it. Hell, it'd make a nice contrast between what the Emperor intended the Imperium to be, and what has become of it. Or it could be the Imperium's worst nightmare returning in the form of the Men of Iron, cannibalizing entire planets to forge more machines. That one would make for a good third party between the Necrons and the AdMech. Perhaps this mechanical force is remotely controlled by centralized super-AI's akin to AM, Skynet, and SHODAN.
@MadCowCrazy7 жыл бұрын
GW has stated before that they could add new races to their games but the question most people can't answer is: How do they play differently from what is currently available? Everything you described can already be done with the current armies, IG, Admech or even Tau fits. Just use alternative models and make up your own fluff. You could easily make a Imperial army that uses Tau rules.

Here are some possible candidates for Xenos: -Hrud -Skaven (especially after Total Warhammer 2) -Exodites -Eldar Corsairs -Rak'gol -Q'Orl Some possible candidates for Human Civilizations -Independent Knight houses (there are a fair few uncharted houses beyond the Imperium's borders that are presumably there). -An Equivalent of Bretonnia, humans worshiping Eldar or Xenos deities (was touched on in the Horus Heresy novels with Vulkan's little trip to an exodite world). -Ancient human Enclaves that were never found by the Imperium. The problem with other human groups is that the Imperium's stance in the setting is made in such a way that independent human Empires aren't too possible. One potential way in which they could diversify the human aspect is to delve deeper into the countless sub empires in the Imperium. We know about Ultramar but it's far from the only "kingdom" in the greater Imperium.

Perhaps like remnants of them who retreated to a quite corner of the galaxy and have held a massive grudge against the imperium for the past 10,000 years, and have now finally decided to come back and get revenge. I like this idea because it would be cool to see some more "traditional sci-fi" looking models and weapons on the tabletop which gives a really cool contrast to all the grimdark we currently see. This video voices so many of my own desires! It's ironic to me that neither of the human factions really embody the idea of humanity at all. We're a bunch of curious thrill seekers. We're almost programmed by nature to be fascinated by the alien and strange. I think the Tau attract players more often not for their big robots, but for their lore and persona. Maybe the most jarring thing about the idea of a new human faction would be the idea that they may actually be relatable!
@Kratos75605 жыл бұрын
I love the Warhammer 40k universe, but the whole Imperium and their practices are a bit of a deterrent to me liking their faction. Sure their ways are necessary because grimdark and all, but the Interex flew in the face of this and proves not only that it is possible for a proper space faring human faction to survive, but to have a non-rogue ai and the capability to repel chaos. On the other hand I agree with the possibile addition of a dark age of technology human faction escaping the Galaxy and returning for whatever reason. A more moderate (and non xenophobic) faction that doesn't care much for chaos or the Imperium's questionable ethics (at first) that becomes more involved later on in their lore.

A human empire utilising bio-organic technology? Imagine this senario, an Imperium Inquisitor chances upon two individuals mounted on dragons and immediately accuses one of heresy, specifically of consorting with xenos. The apparent xenos then accuses the Inquisitor of being insane as the organic helmet of his symbiotic armour retracts with a hiss of gas to reveal a human head underneath. The enraged Inquisitor draws his laspistol and as combat begins, the other man transforms into a Minotaur... The first man, in the bio-organic armour, for example could be kitbashed from ældari parts (for example, a scorpion claw) along with parts from a tyranid genestealer (essentially the head to simulate the helmet and perhaps a tyranid torso modified to have two anatomically correct human-proportioned arms in the proper locations). The other could be put together from practically any of the beastmen from Age of Sigmar or 40K itself.

What about a human faction located on the outer rim of the Milky Way?. A Republic whose currency is constantly dropping and rising, like the value of bitcoin. A republic that shoots any Imperial vessel that comes anywhere close to where they are located. The republic is in constant Siege by chaos because when their citizens turn to it they do not immediately destroy them instead they wait for them to hurt other citizens. A safe haven for freethought but not one for safety since the police are under staffed since most capable people go out to war with chaos and minor xenos races. A culture that legally allows xenos to exist inside of the republic but has trouble accepting anything that's not exactly human-looking. Like if you want more people to see this comment

One of the more interesting bits of fanfiction that I read, years ago, featured a "Dark Age of Technology" exploration ship with its crew emerging from warp travel... only to find themselves in the 41st millennium. And dealing with everything that they knew having been dead and gone for tens of thousands of years. Yet having the reason and knowledge/technology that they had back then. Whoever wrote it just kinda abandoned it just as it was getting good (they discovered a dying Space Marine or a disabled Space Marine Dreadnought and brought him back to life and were just learning about what was going on), but that had potential. Especially if met characters that *_wouldn't_* fire on them first for being heretics when they say they don't worship any God Emperor of Mankind. It would also be interesting to see some of the worlds were Eldar and Humans SUPPOSEDLY live together. There's apparently a few Exodite worlds with Eldar/Humans living together or Eldar Rangers and Humans living together in wonderful, glorious heresy.

holy crap, pure humans fighting against pure humans. no xenos, no mutants, not petty puppets of chaos, just human on human fighting. that would be great from a lore point of view.

Rougue traders get access to lots of weird exnos and heretical tech, I could see an amount of them forging their own civilisation on the down low, that would have a weird and distinct army. Their story could be looking for away to become truly independent.

If you haven't read the books: Priest of mars, Lords of mars and Gods of mars then I definitively recommend them. I won't spoil anything major for those that haven't but it involves an exploration fleet visiting the Halo stars in search of tech and you get some glimpses at old human empires that never met the Imperium, being that only a few of these planets were investigated there is plenty of scope for other human empires that have survived. With the things happening in the galaxy currently there are many reasons they might push inwards and come into conflict with other races, such as; the chaos rifts spreading are threatening them, the Tyranid fleets entering from the sides of the galaxy. As long as they introduce something with some substance rather than pulling them out of thin air I wouldn't mind human or xenos.

Perhaps a lost human civilization from one of the Milky Way’s orbiting satellite galaxies?

I honestly think it would be nice to see a human faction that is exactly what the emperor was trying to create, the irony would be great, this broken imperium trying to destroy the very thing it was supposed to be

I've got it! What about a lost bunch of human colonized planets nearer the galactic core. These planets are mineral rich, but kind of barren, and sometimes very close to their system's sun. As a result, they mostly live underground and have evolved to have better night vision then a normal human. These abhumans would also be shorter and stockier than Imperial humans. When they do travel above ground, it's in massive, armed fortresses on tracks, that make Imperial super heavy tanks look like toys. These colossal (or dare I say, cyclopean) war machines could challenge the titans of other races. Ooh, ooh, or they move about on the surface in heavily armed and armored trains. Obviously, their culture will be quite different. They would have been mining colonies originally, so they'd value hard work, and probably loyalty to their...clan? Yeah, they're society is centered around the clan. Not like the Ork clans, obviously. Oh, and their stuff is all heavily decorated, but very solidly made. Maybe throw some extremely high regard for one's ancestors in there. Now what should we call them?

Id like to see a legit undead army like nagash comes to 40k and mixes undead and cybernetics to rival both skitarii and necrons and maybe be able to raise dead from xenos races to give unique units and create more unique conversions and models

Oh hell yeah, we need a Nagash equivalent in 40k.

I always wanted them to explore the worlds beyond the light of the Astronimicon and see what is out there seems like the perfect way to have a non imperial faction and bring back some older elements of the cannon and lore.

One thing I dislike about the setting is how super large the imperium is and how it’s numbers could wipe out smaller empires if it decided too. Sure there a limitations that stop it from doing that sometimes but does it really have to be so galaxy spanning?

I believe the races we have fill the universe pretty well. No matter what you’ll always find a race that fits your tastes, unless you’re looking for a good guy. That being said if they were to add a new major race a divergent race of humans would be very cool, but they’d have to be pretty far from human so the imperium wouldn’t try to ally with them at first. (I don’t know if the imperium tries to get humans that don’t have an alignment or just murder boners all of over them)

I see people speaking about the Interex... but they were erased from existance. I think you have in mind something more like the Diasporex. They were obliterated too by the Emperor's Children, but they were just a fleet. What about making them just a scout fleet of an actual human-xenos civilization/federation of planets?

I’d like to see a human civilization that either A: split from the Imperium after the Horus Heresy or during it and it stayed true to the Imperial Truth and the Emperor’s vision for the Imperium or B: a chunk of the pre-age of strife human civilization survived and was cut off by warp-storms. Either one would be nice.
