Actually the majority of European countries' plugs (and half of Africa's) are compatible with each other (C, E and F sockets can be used interchangeably). It doesn't truly compensate compared to how the US, Canada, Mexico and Japan share the exact same versions of their plugs, however, at least our electrical grids are all the same, and there are quite a few plugs that are less dangerous than type A and B plugs.

But plugs sold in the EU must be compatible both with the French and the German standard. So in fact you have 2 big and 2 small standards, but excluding the UK, and to some extent Denmark, those plugs are compatible.

Look at my pet anaconda. It reaches from here to yonder. Last syllable has to match phonetically, or at least the last vowel sound, if it ends on one. "Genre" is pretty good btw. Both have the same [ə] mid-central unrounded vowel at the end. But mj and iguana don't match and conda, khanda are basically a snippet of anaconda and will get you thrown out of the cypher.
